      @@Rich.Aardvark Hi. Here from the future to tell you that you missed an opportunity --
      'He is the *_'regent'_* of relish'. The world has never really recovered from this verbal misstep on your part. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was brought about as a direct result of your word-choice. Had you made the correct choice, we'd be colonizing Mars right now, but you just had to go and be different. You, sir, should be ashamed. For my part, I have broken all laws of internet propriety, decency, reverence for the dead, and causality, to travel back in time, raise this comment from the dead, and inform you of your misstep.

      *~"do not fear the man who tries 10.000 condiments on his fries once, do fear the man that tries 10.000 condiments on his fries at the same time..."~*
      _- Bruce Lee, sometime, somewhere_
      That man? Was me, and the sauces included: Mayo, Ketchup, Curry (gewurz), Garlic, Cocktail/Whiskey, BBQ sauce Dutch style: 'Zigeunersaus', finely chopped onions, warm peanutsauce (Sateh), Picalilly and the Dutch/Belgian specialty 'Stoofvlees' amongst others, i'm sure i forgot one!
      I was around 14, had my first job as rose picker (which sounds romantic but sure as hell wasnt) and together with my buddy, we used to snack at the local cafetaria: usually only me, him and the cool chick behind the counter (small town charms) so in a moment of indecisiveness about which sauce to pick for that day, i joked: 'just put 'm all on!'
      Which first invoked mild laughs, then weirdly but quickly turned into a challenge of sorts... So of course i got it served, ate it, and to my honest surprise it was the best damn fries i ever tasted! I ordered it for as long as i worked there, so not the healthiest period of my life :D
      They even put it on the menu for a while, and it did sell! Maybe someone remembers: Cafetaria Moos, Frietje Wereldoorlog, Bemmel, The Netherlands
      I Challenge you @Atomic Shrimp! You need to eat it to believe it!

    This is not exactly the most recent video, but for anyone who is interested:
    Brown sauce's closest equivalent in the U.S. is steak sauce.
    It seems like English mustard is equivalent to yellow mustard in the U.S.
    As an American I can't say I've ever seen a mustard as dark brown as the French mustard.
    You don't get mint sauce packets in America, so I was very surprised when I saw the color, very green.
    And if Atomic Shrimp reads this: I love these kinds of videos. Very Entertaining.

    • @subjunctivitis
      @subjunctivitis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      English mustard is not much like American yellow mustard, except for the colour. American yellow mustard (which you can buy in the UK, usually French's brand) is tangy and slightly sweet - perfect for hot dogs. English mustard is less sweet and can be incredibly hot - some brands will blow your head off with an effect a bit like wasabi.

    I wanted fish and chips after you ended on malt vinegar but I'm in NEW England so we don't have it available at 8:30pm (20:30.) Thankfully my open bag of Salt & Vinegar chips temporarily satisfied the craving. Still several weeks away from the good roadside fried seafood places opening for the season but I know what my next eat out meal will be! Do you get Clam Cakes in the UK? They are deep fried dough fritters with chopped clams in them (as opposed to a patty shaped, loosely packed, crab cake.) Also eaten with salt & vinegar and, optionally, some ketchup. A favorite, often with thick chowder.

    American here, Heinz usually wins out here too! I think they do their research or at least eat their own products, so tastes better. Walmart sells mayochup, which is a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup. I recommend adding garlic powder, if you like spicy add hot sauce. Not sure if it comes in single servings yet. The lemon sachet I would make a salad dressing with a touch of oil and sea salt, you could also, add to cooked spinach instead of vinegar. I would add malt vinegar to some shredded cabbage and carrots, and use as a side dish. Pickle would be great on a hot dog/ veggie dog, or hamburger. Some might add it to mayo and ketchup to make a thousand Islands dressing for salad.

    my husband worked at a manufacturer that made sauces for a number of years…. they made the sauce for many outlets but each had their own recipe… eg, they made the sauce for Aldi, Marks and Spencer’s and McDonalds,,,, but each of them designed their own sauce specific to their own ingredients. So each of those sauces you’re trying, someone has designed especially for each brand.

    Not sure if it's been done in another video, but brown sauce could do with it's own vid, give HP some competition!
    And mustard needs a battle with Colman's; and horseradish with... Errr... I've forgotten the big brand for that 😕 (and maybe some Hellman'+vegan mayos, too)

    When it comes to vinegar, only Saraons will do, these days some of the cheaper stuff is a non brewed condiment which has caramel as colouring and an unhealthy range of E numbers in the ingredients.

    Hi... good vid ... I know I'm late getting to this one ... but after having watched your basic grocery shop comparison along with your spread sheet statistics... kinda think I'd find a spreadsheet for this sauce comparison quite interesting... guess I'm a bit weird lol 😁 surprised that there wasn't a Sarsons malt vinegar sachet to compare the Heinz with ... if they even have that anywhere ... also I prefer mint jelly which I like with roast chicken, not a fan of mint sauce but then again I don't like lamb ... 🤔 ... wonder if you've considered comparing things like baked beans etc ... liking the way you do the food vids 👍🏻

      @@AtomicShrimp Yush! Lamb and mint sauce is delicious! Lamb typically has a stronger flavor, what some people might incorrectly call gamey, than beef and venizon for example. The flavor of lamb is quite delicious by itself; but paired with the sweetness and the cooling kick of mint sauce it offsets this flavor and compliments well made lamb VERY well. As I understand it, it apparently works with goat meat as well. :-)

    In the Netherlands the way to eat fries is with mayo. We only use ketchup with 'war fries' i.e. fries with chopped raw onions mayo and ketchup or curry and sometimes satehsauce or peanutsauce (the latter 2 are the same).

    Latecomer to this channel. Uproarious content. I seriously miss Europe, if for no other reason than the array of fast food condiments available. Even American chain restaurants provide better condiments in Europe. From HP Sauce, Malt vinegar sachets, Mint Sauce (for lamb), French/Dijon Mustard to Chili Sauce, Europe has the best selections. There are also the various pickles, as well. When I lived in Europe (West Berlin), I was able to satisfy many of my condiment fixes with purchases from the NAAFI, as well as cheese butties, Cream Horns and Milk Tea. Alas...

      'Tangy' = pleasantly or refreshingly acidic
      'Runny' = thin and liquid in consistency
      'Mild' = not especially flavourful
      'Zingy' = Tangy
