In this lecture one numerical problem is solved in which the design capacity of the RCC column is determined and checked with the upcoming demand on that column, that whether the column can take this load or not. Instead of assuming number of steel bars, can we also use the computed load to compute the area of steel?

See if i got this correctly.
Say, if total load (dead, life, snow, rain loads) is 1200 Kips for a simple building.
So using the same design parameters (as in the video), i need to have 4 such RCC columns so each can support 300 Kips and still maintain the safety factor of 1.6 for overall design.
