Don't forget to mention sometimes there is a dot between the 8s on the queen side on the tall ships.

I bought a proof coin of the bicentennial 50, it's just a nice looking coin!
What's your view on Proof coins? I've been looking at them for the years no coins were made for circulation mostly, I figure the options are limited if you want to fill those gaps in the collection. What's your thoughts on it?

      Proof coins are cool.
They are a different type of coin as they are higher quality with the frosted and mirror finish sections as you would know.
If I was looking to fill gaps in sets I would personally lean towards using just the standard Mint Set coins because they are struck the same way as the circulating coins. But people can collect in any way they want. As long as they are happy that’s all that matters. 👍🏼

@@coincollectinganddetecting Thanks, I just thought it'd be good to get your insight on the matter. I am looking at coins from mint sets too, it's just that I seem to be striking more proof coins atm. Initially, I'm looking to make sets of coins to leave for the grand kids, so I don't mind putting some money into filling the gaps, but of course later I'll be looking at the retail value of duplicates. Proof coins interest me personally though, but as yet, I haven't actually seen one in the flesh, the post is slow around here!
