John Waters is an iconic American filmmaker, actor, director, screen writer, standup comedian, writer, and visual artist best known for his cult films, including Hairspray, Pink Flamingos, and Cecil B. DeMented. He is also the author of a memoir, Role Models. His latest book is Carsick: John Waters Hitchhikes his Way Across America (Farrar, Straus and Giroux; $26.00). Waters is putting his life on the line.

Hitch hiked 8 times across the US once across Australia during my honeymoon once across Canada 30 times from San Diego to San Francisco. Spiritually on the On Ramp. Excellent training for profiling. Did singing telegrams to catch a ride across the Nullabor it goes on and on. I only wished I did not buy a Santa Claus outfit.
