It surprise me to know that many people still don't know that going to the end of the video then replaying will enable you to watch without ads or just a afew. I did it and only god one ad afterwards, the documentary is great ppl, enjoy without ads lol
Relatively few soldiers on either side in the US Civil War were armed with Henry repeating rifles. One Union outfit of apparently higher income soldiers had to buy their own. Despite being proven effective on the battlefield they never became the standard issue infantry rifle of the Union Army and the post war US Army.
i wonder why the scorpio they used has inverted arms, in stead of a configuration like a crossbow shown in different footage within the video and if it makes a difference
Excellent content,👍 without all the hyperbole and grandiose rubbish you get in many documentaries about ancient weapons and warfare on TH-cam. From certain countries that is. 😊
Hi, we are really glad you like this documentary. What did you like most about this documentary? And feel free to keep checking our channel, we have other exciting documentaries that you might like.
What is this hogwash😂, the part about the swords was soo simplistic and rather incorrect when it came to the guy saying you just swing and that sword and shield was somehow inferior to the longsword. I didn’t mind the Scorpio bit though
You find special own docus to the Ulfila longsword. They are worth watching. I never knew there were such swords, before seing it. And they seemed to be superior to any kind of swords.
Actually, i've done a bit of Kenjutsu training and the comments in the video about the katana are spot on. All the "parrying" you see in samurai movies is NOT taught. Your opponent strikes, you deflect or evade, and simultaneously make your own strike. That said, in a real sword fight, I'd want a sheild!
I would say the Medival super weapon has always been the spear. It's easy to get used to it, cheap to make and deadly on the field. And if we wanna be technical then we should pick horse riding as most deadly invention.
Untrue. The katana is simply a remake of the tachi, which had a slightly different curve more towards the hilt. And was worn edge downward to be more effective on horseback. But even then the tachi was predominantly used against armored opponents as was the katana. The katana was simply more user friendly for warriors on foot. And while the longsword was used primarily against armored opponents just like the katana, it wasn't designed to fight against armor. Quite the opposite. Armor was designed to stop the longsword. So....
Very simplistic and you contradict your own points, like at the end- superior weapon makes you feel superior? You indeed wasted ammo like the american generals of old predicted and the muzzle loader won...or longsword vs catana was so simplified that even i who believe in the superiority of the longsword felt bad
good show not going to deny it, but there are a few things of concern, the main one here is the scorpion, the first and biggest concern is the design of it it's wrong that in not even close to an historical scorpion, it's a modern interpretation, the arms should be outward no inward, like a crossbow, this is one of the reasons for it's aparent under power, because the arms swning inward and not outward, the string flaxes considerably this is energy that is not transfered to the bolt, whit the arms swinging outward the string remains streached and more energy is transfered to the bolt, to the bolt itself it is a bit short, the bolt head is also to small, the fedders for stability in the back are to small they will have no efect, the other is the chain in the crank system that pulls the arms, the romans or greeks didn't use chains but strong ropes for that, aesy to amintain and repair the trigher mecanism is also incorect that is a modern interpertation, they used a slide pull not a leaver pull like we see here,
This was fascinating. One could argue that strife and conflict is in humanity's DNA . It might be that without war which forced new inventions to be used , we might still not have evolved much further than the wheel. Which is the reason that the military ,even in "democracies" calls the shots. Prime example the USA ( still the world's main empire),where the two allowed political parties both dance to the pipes of the Pentagon . In essence it doesn't make very much difference which of the two alternately occupy the White House. , after a four year billion dollar "election" circus. The U.S. does it much smarter than other one party states by pretending to be a democracy. It's high time China calls its system other than "communist" and adopt the socalled "democratic'' designation which won't change much for the ruling party and acquire a semblance of "legality" in the process... Just allow two political parties who must swear allegiance to the military , stepping out of line like the Kennedys (who were foolish enough to believe they could upset the applecart )will be followed by severe repercussions .
@@carminegalante4925 Sorry ,I don't get your point. The Ukraïne conflict was cooked up by the CIA . A new European conflict was long overdue ( according to the Washington state department) . Had everything always been relatively peaceful in Europe , the U.S. (itself a creation of mainly fleeing Europeans) wouldn't be more powerful than for example Brazil. Some wouldn't want to change the last century's bloody history , even if they could.
wow usually the people presenting stuff are speaking english and getting a german voiceover, but here 2/3 are german and being translated into english. that feels wrong :D
Thoes guns are revolutionary tho 🤔🤔 quick reload make them very dangerous no way u can fight them like Napoleonic wars u must duck and hit for cover 😐💥
I’m a sword man, I absolutely love them and have a fair sized collection of swords from you medieval long sword & Claymore to 18th century French/British rapiers & sabres, Middle Eastern swords, Chinese swords (Chinese War sword) and the 2 full Samurai sets from Katana down to the Tanto. In fact I’m just waiting on delivery of a new Katana (Katana only) which has been hand made to order (took just over a month to do). It is 1095 carbon steel, full tang, 10 times folded, black steel blade which has been sharpened by a Japanese whetstone and uses shark skin on the handle
The B-36 and its nuclear payload was operated by SAC and was one of the most powerful weapons ever fielded. It never fired a shot, and was successful at its stated task - "Peace is our profession."
It surprise me to know that many people still don't know that going to the end of the video then replaying will enable you to watch without ads or just a afew. I did it and only god one ad afterwards, the documentary is great ppl, enjoy without ads lol
I suggest not saying this on utube...it will cause utube to change it's policy to prevent it
@P. Tiesti Agreed
Yo, this does not work, just tried it. Uppercut yourself

Pretty underpowered scorpion...
Another advantage of the longsword is that when you turn it around you can use it as a hammer. 28:46 and 29:45.
Thank you very much for the great videos I would appreciate it if you would allow the channel settings to add and create non-English subtitles
i wonder why the scorpio they used has inverted arms, in stead of a configuration like a crossbow shown in different footage within the video and if it makes a difference
Narrator: why did gernanic warriors fear fear the scorpio
Me: probably has something to do with the fact theyll probably die if theyre hit 😂😂😂

thanks a lot.

How many ad's????!!!!!!
Those tests are absolutely ridiculous

Spears have taken more earth than swords or guns ever will.
Correct. Mounted versus unmounted, is not even remotely in the same universe.
20:38 isn't that narsil from Lord of the rings?
"The programs will have been written by a human.." Ohh the naivety
Silke 26:21
Are these guys real hema or tijutsu practitioners cause those cuts look so rough
41:18 Pointless. Determine what is faster, man or an automobile? Is wood or reinforced concrete stronger?.
Deadly inventions for deadly intentions.
Katana were developed to kill unarmored opponents, longswords were developed for martial opponents wearing armour.
Untrue. The katana is simply a remake of the tachi, which had a slightly different curve more towards the hilt. And was worn edge downward to be more effective on horseback. was ruiened when comparing the katana and a long sword
I think fletchings used for arrow in scorpion are very small.
Really good
Too much bloody ads
16:23 - Long Sword
Isn't that a Ballista??
Bitte mehr Werbung. Es ist noch nicht nervig genug.
Stanley Kubrick invented weapons 😆

Yeah, katana was a weapon of precision. Not meant to be used like the European Longsword .
@@benedictjajo Draw-cut mainly, against unarmoured opponents. More like a sabre than a sword.
Sigh , now compare Longsword to it's actual opposite number - nodachi , and wipe egg off your face .
They didn't really have steel plate on adv.... Lol
I mean a g in the front and n, also in front
why so many adverts grrrr
Skip to the end and click replay, you'll be able to watch the whole video without ads

@@PAULLONDEN alot of “if” in your statement. I deal in facts.
Weapons is a part of the human nature but, we did go to far to moment we invented weapons of mass distraction. There is no going back now.
Weapons development ensures greater human suffering and loss!

Overrated weapon. I thought it'd pierce through shield like butter.
That narrator puts a h in years. 😂😂😂 #yearhasss
Shoot all week
Weapons to keep the peace huh????😏😏😏🤧🤧🤧! BULL CRAP

Interesting programme but some of those pseudoscientific experiments are a bit of nonsense and poorly thought out really. Good bit of fun though.
