A few years ago we were getting rid of a lot of old maps at work. I saved a bunch and used them to wrap Christmas gifts. Everyone really enjoyed unwrapping their gifts and seeing which country or state their gift was wrapped with.

Every so often when we travel the roadside rest stations will still have Ohio Maps free not much anymore since everyone uses GPS but they are cool. Anna In Ohio

If you have some left over wall paper from your last home improvement, most of them make really nice and sturdy, fancy gift bags. And the ones that are to flimsy work well as simple wrapping paper.
You can also upcycle old t-shirts, scarfs and stuff into drawstring bags, if you have a sewing mashine or are down for some very simple handsewing. I made some drawstring bags a while ago out of left over fabric with a fun animal print. They have been passed around in my family a lot since my mum figured out how to bake bread. We despretly need more. So I am going to make some and get them into circulation starting as gift wrapping. If you want the packaging to be food safe later on, make sure to use something like cotton, that can be washed at high temperatures.
This is also a great beginner project if you want to learn how to sew.

I didnt have any Christmas wrap, but I had some big sheet of 100% paper that I got for free for my grandkids to draw on. I pulled it out wrapped all my gifts and used ribbon that I had saved from years before. They really came out good. I'm finding it fun to find ways to re-use stuff.

You can also make bows similar to the plastic ones out of paper! Super easy and cute!

Such good tips! I use almost all of these and haven't bought wrapping stuff (besides tape) in years.

Great tips! We just reuse giftbags that we've been gifted. For ribbon we also reuse what we can save from other gifts, or just use some twine. I even save gift wrap so that I can reuse it or make crafts out of it 😂

I have a box full of newspaper, brown paper, small boxes, ribbons, small strings, tissue paper, paper bags, small plastic bags (from party favors), and so on. My friends know I collect so they pass along some of theirs. When I open gifts I always am careful not to rip anything, and I fold all the paper for later. I also don’t use tape to wrap, I just use ribbons and strings to tie them in place, which makes it easier to reuse the wrapping paper later. On the rare occasion I do use tape, I use paper tape.
Also, cookie/chocolate/wine boxes make great gift containers, especially if you are several related gifts and want to help them have a cute container to keep it all together. For instance, I’m regifting a camera and photo album to my sister, so I’m using a nice chocolate box to give it to her and I even have space left over for lots of stickers and a couple small picture frames.
Another tip, i keep the small strings as loops from clothing tags and stuff I purchase and I tie them together to use as a large ribbon. Not always as pretty as ribbon, but it does the job.
    Great video!

Thank You for the great video! I wrap gifts in paper cut from paper bags, the ugly side inward. And I also use the little "ribbons" that are in clothes to be used for hanging like bows...

On the bows, I bought some many years ago before thinking about recycling we use the same bows year after year. I was at my sisters a few years ago and she had these really pretty bows and as they unwrapped gifts I ask for the bows and I have those in my collection we will never have to buy bows again in life. I do use a piece of plastic tape to reattach to the next years packaging. I loved Wrappily as I mentioned in a earlier post after seeing their Promotion on the national news but the price is too high 3 sheets $10.00 plus shipping. Its going to have to be more cost effective but they are definitely going in the right direction. Anna In Ohio

Think reusable. Fabric Christmas bags you can sew yourself and reuse every year
