Yes! i would also add big tip for begginers - if you already have any plastic bags, bottles, containers - use them until they are totally broke. There is no point of throwing away anything that we're already purchased.
A faster alt for gettin labels off, just soak in COLD water. Ice water is best. You should be able to peel/roll/flick it right on off. I worked at a juice bar where we reused our glass jars and it made re-labeling 1000000x faster
wouldn’t budge with that method. the adhesive was 💪🏽. i find various products and the adhesive they use always differ in how easy and/or difficult they are to remove 😆
abetweene acetone is best. I do the whole cold and even baking soda methods. Even elbow grease or boiling the whole thing and using a rubber spatula to take it off lol. Wish I knew about acetone’s use earlier.
this is probably one of the very few sustainable lifestyle videos i've seen that didn't have that condescending militant elitist & classist undertone to it & i absolutely love that you showed that people can still care about the environment while having things like i'm not a monster for not wanting to give up my toothbrush so thank you...xx
🌱 I love how attainable you make low waste and veganism seem, because it is. I also spread the message with calm and kindness, because there are enough loud/obnoxious/militant people in this movement, who make it seem like you have to be perfect.
Wow, the like bots are coming in hot. We're supposed to believe that people suddenly stopped hating TH-cam. Right. 😂 No offense to the creator, of course.
In this world where we are bombarded with "buy this" and "you must have the best of that," it is refreshing to see that you, too, have holes in your paper towel replacements. I, however, also have stains, as apparently I spill coffee, curry, and elderberry syrup pretty often, and I have yet to discover how to remove any of these from cloth. Any tips? I also love that you showed up how you store them! Going green with cloth towels and cloth napkins instead of paper is one thing, but having a good storage system that you'll actually stick to is another! While your method is beautiful, I have found that smaller towels (like wash cloths) work better for us bc they're easier for my kids to fold and put away, and they're easier on the washer for small spills vs bigger flour sac towels. Love your channel!!
I just made a similar video with some practical tips for sustainable switches I've made. I'd love for you to check it out and even give some feedback! Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/4A07jXNKMiA/w-d-xo.html
You're so inspirational! I'm 17 and when I leave this toxic household of mine, I plan to be as environmentally conscious, healthy, educated, innovative, and talented as you! You're my favorite youtuber & you're just amazing!! Thank you for making these videos! I'm so happy I found your channel!
Instead of soaking off labels, you can use a blow dryer. Heat it up for a few minutes and then the label peels right off including most of the adhesive. Much quicker and cleaner.
Just remember to not use blow dryers on plastic, because it can change it's shape from the heat (wanted to do this once to reuse the packaging... big mistake). Also sometimes better than blow dryer is just hot water (don't use on plastic too). And as mentioned oil seems to help (never used it but I saw people using it). As for myself I discover that some random make-up remover that I found in the house removes the glue so you can also try that (I guess it's because it also contains oil).
This video was so good, I feel like it had tips that were ACTUALLY applicable to most people's lives, like driving home the fact that if there isn't a benefit to something you just won't do it.
Of all minimal / zero waste videos I watched, I felt especially your first step is the best! I like how gentle your approach is towards zero waste ☺️ lifestyle, and actually useful (because it is so doable, even for the community I am living in). Please do more of these videos!
I appreciate the acknowledgement that a lot of people will struggle with this and not to push it too far, usually when I watch these videos I feel like I’m being lectured and yes we all need to do better but without companies and bigger policies around sustainability it’s difficult! Thankyou for the cool ideas!
I so appreciate your emphasis on making sure the changes we make in our life are sustainable for us! And affordable too. And also that if we have something like an electric toothbrush, there’s no need to feel bad about not using bamboo brushes
🌱 I’m trying my best to be environmentally friendly. I have a lot to clean up and change. I am inspired by what you do. Thank you for making this video and getting me motivated! 🤍
Already on the 'Kind to the environment' journey, I still have a long way to go but slowly making permanent changes to my lifestyle. Great and encouraging video, I look forward to many more tips 🥰😊👌👍
Can you imagine my small shriek of excitement when I clicked on this video while eating my sweetened mango slices from the bulk packaged section (which I need to cut down on cause plastic) and realized what grocery store you were shopping at (especially when I saw the recycling center at the beginning!!!) I’m so glad I found your channel. Thank you for the content!
This is the best video I've seen about low waste living & transitions. This is the first video I left not feeling guilty about my waste consumption. I'm not 100% plastic-free, I've been transitioning to low/zero waste for almost 3 years (still many products to use and discard of properly before I can go full). Thank you for this, your advice is so so helpful!!!
Good vid! I’m in the process of becoming more sustainable. A couple things that has helped me thus far: 1. Don’t fall into the zero waste aesthetic trap. There are many DIY projects that can be used at home and may reduce the need to buy products to become more sustainable. 2. community gardens and farmer’s markets can help. I’ve got a tiny garden plot (3x4), doesn’t produce much but it’s so satisfying to grow your own food. Looking forward to more videos!
Can I just tell you how much I appreciate the tone of the video. Not judgemental. Not "I'm better than". Not the "no excuse" shaming those in different positions or unaware/trying to learn & do better. Just factual helpful information. Thank you.
I like the fact that you stated during the pandemic do your best. A lot of eco-shamers aren't getting that our supply chains are broken and we can only do what we can do and we can only get what we can get. Great video and stay safe.
yes, very broken. i saw video of a farmer dumping thousands of onions because he couldnt offload them to closed businesses (restaurants) and markets. 🤦🏽♀️
abetweene I would love to buy skincare or even sugar wax if you could find a way to ship it okay! I just love everything you do and want to try it for myself but i dont have the supplies or time to make it 😂
I'm new at your channel, but I just love your vibe. It's such a nice refresher to have someone not aggressively push zero waste on you. Thanks for the great tips!
I was about to sleep & i saw a pop-up notification of your video so I came here as it is always worth watching your videos so I'm sacrificing my sleep 🌺🌺 I'm your bigggggg fan from far far awayyyyyy 🌎
As someone with disabilities I struggle to make meals to feed myself so like you’ve decided the electric toothbrush is necessary, I’ve had to decide that premade meals is just something I have to live with bc I don’t have the energy to prepare and cook a meal. I’ve started replacing other things as I need them tho. I appreciatethat you mentioned some things that you choose to use bc you think it’s worth the waste so thanks
I live in developing country, and I think people in developed country like America, South Korea, and Japan, they look like they’re having a lot of waste. For example, Americans drink water in a plastic bottle even at their home? I even don’t buy plastic beverages while I’m out. I refill my cup. I hope people understand that we’re living in a world with limited resources. 😢 And I appreciate that you’re sharing sustainable living
Really appreciating the subtitles. It's very easy to feel guilty for our perceived shortcomings during the covid crisis and it's lovely to see reminders that we are all doing our best!
This was a really good video miss. The editing on point. The tone of your voice. The content. The way you laid it out. Good stuff ty. It’s almost becoming a war within me to switch over to a much more sustainable lifestyle. I can’t in good conscious keep living this way. And I am feeling enriched by wanting to make these changes. I would also like to homestead in a very rural area someday so I will need to live sustainably.
Agreed! Her videos are so informative. I definitely hope to reach as many people as she does through my channel🌿Information about the environment is just so important, and we can reflect that in our lives!✨
I loved this! Beautiful video and message. Also, like you show with the glass jars: one of the most environmentally friendly thing we can do is use what we already have (instead of replacing items that work with new, trendy objects)! There is no need, for example, to buy a new 'zero-waste' cutlery set for eating out, when we can use the good ol' knife and fork we already have at home, just wrapped in a towel. It's ok to keep using the plastic Tupperware for storage, unless it's really damaged. As you say, the point is to purchase less. :)
I'm reducing my waste, especially because our new living arrangements do not have definite recycling. Lugging recyclables to my grand's just isn't easy lol 🌱🌱🌱♊♊
This was such a lovely video! I really liked that you suggested actual hacks that could be applied to anyone, not just bombarding viewers with a bunch of ‘eco’ products and tools they should buy. Can you please talk more about that water flossing device you showed?? I’m very interested in how it works 😲 xx
🌱 I've watched this video a couple of times, I really like the way you explain it, in a non-pressured way. I'd definitely watch any new videos you make about sustainability. They're very informative & set out in a really genuine & accessible way. Thanks for creating this series!
Such good advice, I know people trying to be more eco conscious but they are trying to buy their way out of the problem. I had lots of Tupperware containers and I am not just going to throw them out to buy new metal or glass ones if they are still usable. Old t-shirts are also great to cut up and use as paper towels or I have seen sewing tutorials to turn them into the facial rounds, can't sew so I also just bought the bamboo ones you have. Love the content 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 would love to see more of these and also maybe more what I eat in a day, or recipe videos.
One thing I absolutely recommend is buying a clean paint roller tray (the ones with a ramp/slope) and fill it with cold water and put it on top of a shed roof of somewhere high they can reach, they LOVE bathing in it when it's hot, i always see a small family of birds coming to it, make sure to clean and refill the tray, though!
Tip for getting labels off. Lemon essential oil dissolves glue really well. As someone looking to reduce waste I clean out old jars to repurpose all the time this has saved me a tonne of effort, plus it smells good :)
This is a great video! You make it so assuring throughout touching upon guilt and our pandemic situation. You provided content that feels like this is actually doable and not impossible. Thank you!
This is an amazing video! I used to support Package Free Shop but I would love if anyone knows of a minority owned low waste shop/resource I can support moving forward.
@@she2hadthedramathick I finally found a Latina owned low waste shop based in Rhode Island, it is greentenderfoot.com. The prices are really reasonable and it is very down to earth. There isn't a ton of stuff but definitely all the essentials and free shipping $30+
going into my 2nd year but first year on campus. i come from a hispanic home which isn’t particularly concerned about sustainability in all aspects but like many ppl i’ve come to realize the sustainable things we’ve always done on accident. that being said- preparing to be independent and make these bug choices as a consumer like cleaning products and groceries is super overwhelming. watching videos online helps and im proud of myself for being conscious but ik that there are many swaps i am just not ready for financially and frankly out of convenience so i really appreciate your framing throughout this video it really calmed my anxiety and if anything made me excited for the journey ahead and everything left to learn! so happy i found your channel
Love this video! I would also add meal prep as a tip, especially if you’re going out (not to eat) otherwise you’ll probably end up eating out do to lack of preparation - saves you money, avoids single use plastics, and it can be healthier too!
Seriously you are me, I am you except I have 3 kids who wont let me keep my home aesthetically pleasing like yours. OmG thank you for creating valuable content. I wish you nothing but blessings!!!!
This video was EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you for the book referral and for all the amazing tips!!!! I hope that you will be able to provide more content like this in the near future. 😊 #ABETWEENE #essentialism #sustainable #living
I have a tiny dog and she uses wee pads as I am at work all day. I have tried reusable pads but I don’t have a washing machine in my apartment and putting it in a container still smelled. It still smelled after washing it. I don’t know a better option as I feel guilty using the disposable pads. Love your message and how you are not judgmental and that changing is a process
omg, just discovered your channel, starting with pedicure moments and then realized you are vegan and low waste person as I am! Thank you for your beautiful videos and take hugs from Russia!
First time I'm watching one of your videos because I'm trying live a more sustainable life, and I just gotta say... your voice is sooo nice to listen to!
I love this! I tried going all in a couple of years ago, and that much change was overwhelming, so I gave up. Now, I am making one plastic free change per month so I can ease into it.
Thank you for this video! I love that your tips are actually useful and you present them in such a non-judgmental manner :) I feel way more encouraged to try these!
We can reuse the twist ties, though. If you have a local farmers market, some farms will take any twist ties, rubber bands, or bread clips you have leftover. Same with egg cartons. My mother in law takes all those things to our local farm and they give her a minor discount and reuse her items to bind less desirable food for the discount bin and reuse the egg cartons. My local farm also makes their own pickles, sauces, salsa, jelly, and honey. So they’ll take our used glass jars and reuse them, and they’ll take plastic honey bears to wash and reuse. (EDIT)
So happy I stumbled upon your video! I've been wanting to incorporate low waste living into my life and your video told me to get it togetherrr. Loved your tips! 🌱❤️
this!!!! is!!!! amazing!!! content!!!! i first discovered your channel because your sugaring videos were so quality and well made. i got absolutely sucked in thanks to your satisfying visuals, beautiful calming voice, and extensive and clearly communicated knowledge. and now to discover to see that you are covering so many topics that i'm passionate about/interested in i feel like i discovered a secret treasure. from a vegan, zero waste aspiring, beauty enthusiant, i just want to say i love what i'm seeing and i just want to tell u how insanely inspiring and pleasant ur content is. continue doing what you're doing because it is a beautiful thing and u are easily one of the best youtubers. u are a gift.
Bruh your life is so cute, it looks so scientific 💖💖 can you talk about things you use like the tooth brush, skin care, drawer organizer, organization. I like the way you do things lol
tbh watching your videos makes me want to completely change my lifestyle to a zero-waste / vegan / eco-friendly lifestyle lol I really love your channel
*I care a lot about this, thank you for making this beautiful video. Please do more in future, your videos are a clear indication of your eco friendly lifestyle and I’m here for it* 🌱 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
I use reusable bags all the time. But now grocery stores have requested that we do away with them. So out of respect, I keep them in the car. Once, I get to my car, I transfer the food items into my bags and take all the plastic bags back to the recycle bin at the store. Those bags even rip before I make it to the car. That’s the one thing this pandemic is making us do......creating more waste. So, I have to get creative as well as safe at the same time. Thanks for your tips. Keep them coming 😉
Start a small planting area and grow vegetables. We can use the balcony and terrace as well. Use the kitchen waste to recycle as organic plant food. It is easy to make. This helps us to avoid kitchen waste. Also, we can use organic vegetables and fruits for a healthy life. The above idea is widely spread at Kerala State in India.
I've been less-waste for a year now, but I'm running into issues with hair care or hair products for colored hair >.< I really love your whole aesthetic and channel!
So helpful about how to start thinking about it and getting started. Thank you. I appreciate how you call it sustainable and encouraging to make it fit to your lifestyle. A little adds up to a lot. Also your video is beautiful.
I love how you say "low waste". It's alot more gentle and easier to start with for people interested in sustainability! 🌱🌱🌱
I like to call it "minimum waste"

A faster alt for gettin labels off, just soak in COLD water. Ice water is best. You should be able to peel/roll/flick it right on off. I worked at a juice bar where we reused our glass jars and it made re-labeling 1000000x faster
wouldn’t budge with that method. the adhesive was 💪🏽. i find various products and the adhesive they use always differ in how easy and/or difficult they are to remove 😆
A really good way is to sprinkle baking soda over top and scrub under hot water
I will have to try that ice water one but Ive been using the baking soda method. It's the pesky gum/adhesive that is really annoying to get off.
olive oil can help get them off too!
abetweene acetone is best. I do the whole cold and even baking soda methods. Even elbow grease or boiling the whole thing and using a rubber spatula to take it off lol. Wish I knew about acetone’s use earlier.

Instead of soaking off labels, you can use a blow dryer. Heat it up for a few minutes and then the label peels right off including most of the adhesive. Much quicker and cleaner.

Love the content 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 would love to see more of these and also maybe more what I eat in a day, or recipe videos.
ty! definitely more to come
🌱 yes please! This is a great primer for newbies ☺
Yes!! We need more accessible sustainability in the world. Definitely strive for a similar message on my channel✨🌿
Thank you for showing how small things can be changed based on what fits your lifestyle.
my pleasure
You have a little sister that lives in jersey city. I am that little sister 😂😂😂
Miss Nadia L hhahaha Wooww
One thing I absolutely recommend is buying a clean paint roller tray (the ones with a ramp/slope) and fill it with cold water and put it on top of a shed roof of somewhere high they can reach, they LOVE bathing in it when it's hot, i always see a small family of birds coming to it, make sure to clean and refill the tray, though!
“Because I’m a Gemini. I do that.” I actually laughed out loud because it’s so true 🤣
Tip for getting labels off. Lemon essential oil dissolves glue really well. As someone looking to reduce waste I clean out old jars to repurpose all the time this has saved me a tonne of effort, plus it smells good :)
You’re so dope boo! Great content.🌱💚✨
Interested in this also!
please do share ♥️
@@she2hadthedramathick I finally found a Latina owned low waste shop based in Rhode Island, it is greentenderfoot.com. The prices are really reasonable and it is very down to earth. There isn't a ton of stuff but definitely all the essentials and free shipping $30+
going into my 2nd year but first year on campus. i come from a hispanic home which isn’t particularly concerned about sustainability in all aspects but like many ppl i’ve come to realize the sustainable things we’ve always done on accident.
that being said- preparing to be independent and make these bug choices as a consumer like cleaning products and groceries is super overwhelming. watching videos online helps and im proud of myself for being conscious but ik that there are many swaps i am just not ready for financially and frankly out of convenience so i really appreciate your framing throughout this video it really calmed my anxiety and if anything made me excited for the journey ahead and everything left to learn! so happy i found your channel
congrats! I’m proud of you too 💕way to do your research before you embark on this new chapter 👍🏽
i'm asian and we use bidet sprays instead of toilet paper growing up
I just wet my toilet paper since i still need to wipe dry with something.
🌱
Love this video! I would also add meal prep as a tip, especially if you’re going out (not to eat) otherwise you’ll probably end up eating out do to lack of preparation - saves you money, avoids single use plastics, and it can be healthier too!
Seriously you are me, I am you except I have 3 kids who wont let me keep my home aesthetically pleasing like yours. OmG thank you for creating valuable content. I wish you nothing but blessings!!!!
"Don't just tell them, show them "
That's why I like this video
This video was EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you for the book referral and for all the amazing tips!!!! I hope that you will be able to provide more content like this in the near future. 😊 #ABETWEENE #essentialism #sustainable #living

I’m genuinely so happy I found your channel! I’m about to watch literally every video.
Same! Haha it's so good, can't believe I just discovered it even though I also have a sustainable YT channel🌿
Soaking anything in straight vinegar for awhile can help remove labels!! I do this all the time with pickle jars!
First time I'm watching one of your videos because I'm trying live a more sustainable life, and I just gotta say... your voice is sooo nice to listen to!
thank you!
I love this! I tried going all in a couple of years ago, and that much change was overwhelming, so I gave up. Now, I am making one plastic free change per month so I can ease into it.
Thank you for this video! I love that your tips are actually useful and you present them in such a non-judgmental manner :) I feel way more encouraged to try these!
my pleasure. happy to hear that it helps 😄
You are literally one of the better vegans out here! I love your soft spoken tone and variety of your page ❤️ 🌱🌱
I’m SO UPSET that I JUST now stumbled across your channel!!!!!!! This is the kind of content I’ve needed for so long 😍😍😍😍
We can reuse the twist ties, though.
They are so helpful!!
Being a mother this helps me a lot. I think this just might be my favorite video on YT. Thanks for the tips 🌱

We can
use the balcony and terrace as well. Use
the kitchen waste to recycle as organic plant food. It is easy to make. This
helps us to avoid kitchen waste. Also, we can use organic vegetables and fruits
for a healthy life. The above idea is widely spread at Kerala State in
India.
