Over 30 years ago, Dinesh Sood and his brother Deepak Sood, originally from Ludhiana, set up a tiny four-table eatery in the old market area of Balepet, Bengaluru to serve North Indian khaana to traders and travellers who would visit the area. Gaining popularity over time, Punjabi Pure Veg moved to a slightly larger first floor nook eventually, where it still stands 28 years on. The ambience, service and the decor is rather basic, but it is the rustic flavours of the food dished out by second generation owner, Aman Sood and his motley retinue of cooks that seems to hold sway over regular patrons. Also, the fact that the fare is delightfully cheap further adds to its draw. Hope you enjoy this one, visit here only for the food, nothing else.

It's been quite a while I've been going to this restaurant with my family and friends.
A perfect Punjabi restaurant this is. . Mr.aman Sood. The owner of this place is gem of a person!
Their service is superb.
Language they speak is English, hindi, Punjabi, kannada. I'm glad the workers here speak all the languages.
Highly recommend this place to one and all!

i had been to this place on recommendation of unbox Karnataka....The food here is very tasty love the Thalis here ....onli negative thing is too much rush....bht now i regularly order by calling them....The owner Aman is very friendly and suggest u the right choice of food ..Happy eating🙂

These old eateries are truly the best, simply because they have withstood the test of time. And people continue to visit such places for the tasty food that is served. Other things like ambience can be ignored 🙂.
From the kind of words like stretchy and the masala papad being described and your expressions while explaining the food we can make out this joint didn't serve the food of your choice and expectation but it was ur graciousness to cover the drawbacks of this joint. Hats off sir

Visited this place today. Food is ok and nothing to complain. Pocket friendly. Neat and clean place. The Owner did not budge from his seat to assist rest of his staff to make the experience better for his customers.

@@sonalisood3523 Surely, none can say Punjabi food is bad except Non-Punjabi larper restaurants who put Punjab name.. In Delhi & other places u do hey substandard Punjabi food.
In Bengaluru Kapoor's Cafe is bit authentic Punjabi for veg & for non-veg it's Pind Baluchi.
As a Kannadiga I found these as authentic one but will try this Sood restaurant too.

As you say, the breadth of Indian cuisine is immense and you barely get to touch the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the immense range of cuisines especially regional cuisines. I have recently discovered the delights of Maharashtrian cuisine, another relatively unsung and unknown cuisine that is rich, tasty and even simple to make. But sadly, it is not as widespread or well known outside India like Punjabi or South Indian cuisine - there is sadly no Saravana Bhavan to pupularise Marathi cuisine. Indeed, I had the iconic vada pav for the first time in Dubai a few years ago. I discovered Kothambir vadi whilst on a chance visit to Bombay 4-5 years ago. I plan on a culinary tour of Maharashtra and Gujarat next year and hope to sample more delights.
French cuisine is excellent too and you should try it sometime.
