Barry's arc in the Injustice universe stems from how he's the kind of person who went along with Superman's regime because he believed that it was for the greater good. Superman's doing all of this crazy shit, but to Barry and even to Clark initially, it was out of wanting to better the world, regardless of what it took. Like you said, Barry's role in Superman's story in this universe was to be the angel on his shoulder, while Clark's guilt and Diana were the devils on the other shoulder. When Clark killed Billy, that was the breaking point where Barry no longer saw Superman's actions are justifiable. Unlike most Injustice characters, Barry's one of the few that has an actual coherent character arc that isn't undermined by any status quo (for this universe), and learning about the Australian boy in the Injustice comics only adds to Barry's character. He stood by Superman because he thought Superman was doing things for the better, but because of personal bias and a mix of guilt and shame, Barry didn't see the writing on the wall. Barry may have not been evil or malicious, but his complicitness in Superman and the League's actions speak louder than words can. I'm glad he's one of the few bright spots in this universe, because Injustice is pretty bleak otherwise.
I’ll be honest the Flash wasn’t one of my favorite DC heroes growing up. Justice League and these videos have substantially elevated my opinion of him.
Barry was the one person in the Regime I could forgive because he was the only one who saw something so horrific that he could no longer deny reality and turned sides. And he turned himself in to boot. He's the fastest man alive and could have avoided capture, but the content of his character was such that he couldn't bring himself to do it. He had to face justice, and he knew it.
Before Billy, everyone Clark killed was an enemy. The only exception was Alfred, but that was covered up. Billy was with him this whole time, and he still got the laser lobotomy. That’s what made him realize Clark was gone by that point. It’s just a Kryptonian at that point.
His reaction to meeting Green Arrow was my favorite scene. He was so excited for the chance to see a friend that had died. It's a wonderful juxtaposition to Superman: in both Injustice and Justice Lord forms
5:54 "What if what happened to Lois happened to Iris?" This is such a good line, because Barry DOES KILL THAWNE for what he did to Iris and could do next
@n2 Actually..... Thawne kills Iris and then he tried to kill Barry's new Fiancé in the exact same way, but then Barry snaps his neck and says "never again"
Flash is essentially the character the audience resonate with the most . It's what makes the animated movie soo dissapointing that they disrespected him like that
My most favorite Flash moment in Injustice is the scene where Barry and Hal are sitting on top of some bridge, and Barry asks basically 'Are we the good guys?" And the conversation basically ends with pointing out two questions. Did Superman kill (i think it was Alfred at the time), and if he did, as Hal puts it "Do you think you can stop him?(superman)" And i think that really boils down just how many different angles there were throughout the entire series, but regardless of the angles, when the big question came up, it was either "Is superman wrong" or "Who can even stop him?"
There were a lot of people capable of stopping him, the problem is that no one wanted to stand up to him until it was too late. Even Shazam, his most ardent defender and someone who literally saved his soul from being sucked out, was discarded at a moments notice.
I wish we got more Super family in injustice, more Steel, More Kara. I wish we could see Superman finally *meet* someone like him in Kara, and how he realizes that she is a person he still wants to be. I wish we saw Steel and Superman fight, Steel staying true to Superman's original vision.
There was a line from the injustice comic series that always stuck with me. It was during a conversation between Green Lantern and the flash. Hal Jordan is giving his thoughts on Superman's regime. Then near the end, Barry tells Hal "Unless your planning on doing something. You should probably stop asking yourself those questions". That one line from the series run always stood with me.
I know next to nothing about the Flash but something about his arc ending with him walking across Australia and helping someone learn to walk again is wonderfully personal and poetic
He didn’t just help someone random walk again. He helped the kid who tried to stand up to Superman and Wonder Woman and had he back broken over 5 years ago in the story.
I will say I like how even in the comics and games Barry first decides to fully question Superman over a child being harmed by Supermans hands. You could even say that Barry sees Superman doing what Joker did to him and Metropolis all that time ago.
Though the injustice flash had a character arc and had to answer for the crimes he had committed with injustice superman while also attempting to redeem himself. Remember that the main world flash is just chilling in the main universe while everyone else was fighting the regime, i wonder what his reaction was once superman was summoned to the injustice universe, was probably mad confused being in the watch tower alone while everyone is just gone.
"Shame isn't just something you get when you get post nut clarity..." That caught me so off guard. This is a great storyline, because it really highlights the whole "Good people are capable of evil even if they think they're not" and also, that just because someone does bad things doesn't make them a bad person. Considering the situation they're in is important, yes there are people who's morals never steer them right, but in this case, Barry did his time for what he did, he accepted the consequences of his actions, or more of his inactions, and he tries to atone for what he did. He's not a bad person, just a person in a bad situation, he didn't know what else to do and his moral compass was being seriously skewed.
You know, I just realized that this is basically the same thing that happened to Deadpool during Secret Empire, only he didn't get a redemption because he's a Marvel character that looks like Spiderman and by proxy he must suffer
Alternate comment: If I had nickle for everytime a blonde jokester in red joined up with an evil regime because their leader was someone they trusted and looked up to, I would two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
Hey, I just wanted to say that although I've always loved super heroes, Ive kinda got the super hero movie fatigue. Watching your content has revived my love for super heroes. Flash's journey in the injustice universe was pretty insane went from going along losing iris and most of the people, heroes and villains he knew trust and trying to be superman's emotional compass till he killed lex and Billy. After he had enough he defected from superman turned himself in. In injustice 2 he was pardon by batman but he struggled to gain the trust of the people and heroes again. He did thanks to the professor, Bruce and hal who went through hell to get his ring back and now barry has a friend who just like him are working hard to gain the people's trust after what they did.
Barry Allen, is truly the worlds greatest hero, the only one who can resonate with friends and enemies alike, this is a fictional story obviously and fictional characters, but I hope I can be as compassionate and good as he is.

I'm still baffled that the creators of the Injustice movie decidad to kill Flash at the beginning and only "acknowledging" his death with Batman saying "Flash, come in Flash!" when his comms cut off. After that, Flash is never even mentioned.
Meanwhile, the animated movie just killed him off stupidly, none of the other characters bothers to even acknowledge him, except for REVERSE FLASH who we see drinking at a bar, possibly mourning.

as contrived a story injustice can be, i really love characters like flash and super girl, super girl because she gets fed their idolysation of superman and hatred of batman as a blank slate and see what they genuinly believe with all the details of what they done to achieve their utopia would make them seem worse than the evil they stopped, yes even the joker cause while he done unspeakable things, his evil was anarchistic. he was evil for evils sake meanwhile superman his evil was for the sake of subjegation, and also he did directly decide to destroy metropolis and gothem himself so yeah at the end of his descent he was literally just as evil. but while karas story fits more at the end of the journey, flash works along that journey, not having such a black and white view on things, cause the biggest flaw with injustice is focusing so much on batman not killing joker, like at a certain point someone should really say "it's been a decade clark you've killed more than the joker ever had" and flash is the one regieme member to not use jokers existance to justify the regiemes existance, more thinking killing villains is where the line is drawn and gets uncomfortable at the protests and the government toppling, only sticking by cause crime has been reduced so it's net good. billys murder being the tipping point is definitely fitting cause the other killings had motive or were against a faceless crowd, but that killing was entirely personal and against a child who not long before saved his life. flash's arc is the best in the series and it makes sense that his patience would require one big event to break the idealised image, seemingly just like an abuse victim.
That was one thing that I didn't understand about Injustice in terms of the 'no kill rule' regarding the Justice League; were Darkseid's Putties...I mean Parademons considered lives to be spared? I don't think I can recall ANY version of them that were not destroyed during throwdowns with the heroes on earth. Here we had a worldwide invasion where MILLIONS could've been killed, but I believe 10000s of people were because Darkseid threw almost everything he had on the planet. So, Superman going into space before blitzing them all into dust was a heroic act IMO. Woman Woman comforted him while Bruce was talking about how many lives he took. Bro...seriously?! I'm not saying Superman didn't go too far, but at the same time there are situations where there is no choice!
One of the most frustrating things in life is to find yourself in everything you observe. For me I'm Barry in that I have ideals that differ so differently from those around me that I just stand there and do nothing to fix it. At the same time I'm the injured kid at the end except I don't have flash to help me. I don't have someone to convince me that moving forward is important. That there is a point in the effort itself.
as an australian people leave kangaroos because they hit cars so much people dont rly go after them they just hop onto the road, can you imaginge late at night having to look out for a speeding human sized bundle of sinew, it's a nightmare idk if I'd stop especially at midnight either
that's why i consider injustice a failed run superman just does a 180 the good hearted boy from smallvile just decides it's time to be a tyrant and that's what they roll with the way i'd see it he would kill joker and collapse to his knees "what have i done" a war between "he deserved it" and "i shouldn't be like him" with instant look for support at batman who superman knocekd out in anger and entire metropolis crying in fear they need superman now more than ever and he's crying on his knees instead of being another batman vs superman story this should've been an exploration of why neither batman nor superman should kill
Honestly, they did my guy Hal Jordan dirty in the comics, and the game. Man became a yellow lantern, and knew that Superman felt no fear, and was aware of how destructive that could be, but just decided to go along with it, and only changed when the guardians forced him to.
What an amazing video, but in all truth, what an amazing essay! Using a (if not the most next to infinity war) widely known superhero storyline whilst explaining the difference between Shame and guilt was a great idea. And very well written to boot
I love how this comic runs all your favorites through the wringer. It’s what makes it so interesting. Like, I cried twice during this run. Once during the issue with Barry dealing with his guilt over letting Superman kill Mitchell and then when Hal Jordan killed Guy Gardner. Not in continuity? Don’t care. These were still the characters I love and it was heartbreaking to see their downfall.
he also didnt learn from that btw because after that kid got paralyzed super man would then go on to kill shazam and flash didnt do anything to stop him
"One step at a time. One foot in front of the other,. Ignore the pain." - Barry Allen, The Flash 3 Videos back to back. I think I'm in love with your channel. Marvellous 👏
Watching Barry's Injustice Arc is so interesting due to the fact that he genuinely believed Superman's cause at first. He believed that Superman was doing what was required to make the world a better place and to prevent the world from being destroyed, and over time, he begins to realize just how far from grace he has fallen. The Chess Game, the fighting of fellow heroes and the turn to killing, Hal getting the Yellow Lantern Ring, everything that the Regime does slowly breaks Barry down until finally, the murder of Captain Marvel gets to him. Billy Batson just spoke out against Superman and was killed for it, what's gonna stop Superman from killing anybody else who disagrees with him?
2:35 This is one part of contention in the comics I never really fully agreed with, earth is being invaded by Darkseid and parademons, parademons are simply mindless creatures created by Darkseid, killing them doesnt feel like much a sin, you cant just knock them out and they will retreat, they were made to fight
This explains why the fastest man alive didn't stop all the tragity so perfectly, the fastest man alive can also be the one who decides to stop the fastest
1:12 also i think it important to mention..injustice's superman..like batman is haunted and mentally ill with control Obsesivo Compulsivo...Classic Clark kent/Superman die with metropolis. but unlike Bruce who is limited by his human condition and limitations.. clark found himself in a worst position ..people expect him to act like classic clark like you mention but something about him has change in a fundametal level.. and there is a logic to what he tell flash. he even sound resonable cause he takes barry's criticism during the conversation.. superman in the process of falling into a spiral of self destruction and its not clear in the moment.
This is why killing him in the animated movie was the stupidest decision ever. Flash has the most important and interesting arc in the Injustice universe. I hope we get an animated medium of Injustice that is a true adaptation of the full story.
Would love to see you analyse how Lego Games present adapted characters … given that they are often parodical versions that still go through the same arcs and emotional events . Would be rlly interesting !
Barry was really insufferable in Injustice. Just sat back and watched Superman turn a fan of his into a paraplegic pretty much. All he does is stand there with a dumbfounded look on his face when the regime starts on their rule. Maybe that was the point of his characterization in Injustice but it just left a bad taste in my mouth...
One thing I despise is the whole "killing is bad and will only make you a murderer" batman take that honestly just gets justified whenever an alternative story of that rule being ignored happens. but I digress. My fav universe of so called "evil superman" is justice lords from the animated series. No killings after the trigger and or stupidity, just extreme control and lobotomy.
I never followed DC. I never knew much apart from Batman. Then Injustice happened. The chess match between Superman and Barry was so intense, for me, that it made Flash my favourite DC character. Then the TV show happened and it was a mess XD

Meanwhile, in the movie adaptation, Barry dies before Lois does.
that's why i consider injustice a failed run
superman just does a 180
the good hearted boy from smallvile just decides it's time to be a tyrant and that's what they roll with
the way i'd see it he would kill joker and collapse to his knees "what have i done"
a war between "he deserved it" and "i shouldn't be like him"
with instant look for support at batman who superman knocekd out in anger
and entire metropolis crying in fear
they need superman now more than ever
and he's crying on his knees
instead of being another batman vs superman story this should've been an exploration of why neither batman nor superman should kill
The Injustice video essays are coming just in time for Jon Kent to fight the Injustice version of his dad in his Superman series.
It's the intro, that what makes me come back here
I’ve always said in terms of character and not aesthetic flash is the Spider-Man of DC.
he also didnt learn from that btw because after that kid got paralyzed super man would then go on to kill shazam and flash didnt do anything to stop him
"One step at a time. One foot in front of the other,. Ignore the pain." - Barry Allen, The Flash
3 Videos back to back. I think I'm in love with your channel. Marvellous 👏
The injustice comics were not the best but they had some really good explorations of characters during certain plots
Dude, thank you.
You are not talking about comics or movies, you are sharing hope and wisdom, one step at the time.
2:35 This is one part of contention in the comics I never really fully agreed with, earth is being invaded by Darkseid and parademons, parademons are simply mindless creatures created by Darkseid, killing them doesnt feel like much a sin, you cant just knock them out and they will retreat, they were made to fight
Your intro and outro songs keep living rent free in my head
This explains why the fastest man alive didn't stop all the tragity so perfectly, the fastest man alive can also be the one who decides to stop the fastest
Ill be waiting for a video on wonder woman. More specifically why shes just an out-right villain.
"Flash. Fastest Man Alive. But not fast enough to outrun his own mistakes."
I seriously look forward to every one of these videos. Good job man on the absolutely astounding quality 👍👍
one of the most fleshed out characters in the og story only to get merced off screen in the first 30 seconds of the movie.
And then the Injustice movie just kills him off at the beginning.
They did flash in the Injustice movie DIRTY
I love the obligatory music tributes at the end
Your channel is perfect for those nights by the fire; if that makes sense. Love your work keep it up!!
This is why killing him in the animated movie was the stupidest decision ever. Flash has the most important and interesting arc in the Injustice universe. I hope we get an animated medium of Injustice that is a true adaptation of the full story.
Implicitly is one of the few TH-camrs to use “poopoohead” in such a serious tone that makes me nod my head like something profound was said
I was not expecting to cry over a sociological deconstruction of injustice flash tonight yet here we are
Would love to see you analyse how Lego Games present adapted characters … given that they are often parodical versions that still go through the same arcs and emotional events . Would be rlly interesting !
Guilt is hating what you did,
Shame is hating what you are.
I love your Superman videos!! Really any DC character but the Superman ones are the best for me
One thing I despise is the whole "killing is bad and will only make you a murderer" batman take that honestly just gets justified whenever an alternative story of that rule being ignored happens.
but I digress. My fav universe of so called "evil superman" is justice lords from the animated series.
No killings after the trigger and or stupidity, just extreme control and lobotomy.
This could’ve all been prevented if Batman just let joker die instead of always saving him or if he paralyzed him from the neck down permanently
There are few things where we all agree on: MCU > DCU, depth comics DC > Marvel, DC animation > Marvel animation
The music choices were PERFECT.
its a shame that we dont get to see any of this in the cartoon movie since he just up and dies at the start
I never followed DC. I never knew much apart from Batman. Then Injustice happened. The chess match between Superman and Barry was so intense, for me, that it made Flash my favourite DC character. Then the TV show happened and it was a mess XD
Lore of Injustice Flash momentum 100
We don’t talk about Animated Injustice Flash
My man you're videos are amazing and your music taste is impeccable
