I was working in Japan as a Tour guard for a private company to make a bit of money. The most requested place to go is actually Aokigahara. We would always take the same trail. The forest was always beautiful and I can tell you how to get from one place to another just by looking at a Rock. In my experience the tents you in the forest are actually temporary houses before they commit suicide. Around the forest there are signs that say thing like "Think of your relatives" or "There is always success. Failure is just a road block". The forest is beautiful on the trail but if you go off trail for a couple of meters. Every couple steps you'll see tents or ropes or anything revolving around suicide. The place is a must visit. Take my advice. Don't go off the trail

Nice, that would certainly be a clever way to dispose of a body, but obviously you would still have to take precautions not to leave any fingerprints just to be safe. I sometimes think of things like this, but I guess the thought hadn't crossed my mind this time - possibly due to my nerves being on alert. A good example would be bomb threats. My school received one last year and everyone was evacuated to the large field at the back of the school, but if the person really wanted to commit murder then they should have gained information and hidden the bomb(s) in the evacuation area prior to making the threat. Or better yet, simply detonate the bombs if they wanted to kill anyone.
I hope the souls of the people who took their lives at The Suicide Forest rest in peace, a couple times I did have suicidal thoughts, I still do sometimes, mainly when I'm upset. But I am getting help and the thoughts are getting fewer, please, I hope no one else ever thinks of harming themselves, everyone's lives are precious.

Me and my bf accidentally went here (we just followed recommendations of the tourist guide). We hiked for ten minutes and then decided to go back because it felt really eerie and uncomfortable. Mind you, we had no idea that this was the famous suicide forest. Looking back I find it kind of strange that no one in the tourist information center warned us.
I saw this video by NasDaily and he made a video and he said something like “The stereotype that Asians are smart can make them feel under a lot of pressure so some go to the Suicide Forest to escape from it.” “Some people use a string to remember the entrance but dont come out.” So this can be one of the reasons people commit suicide in Japan
i wouldnt care about the law if i found a tent in that forest, i'd turn off my camera and go check to see if someone is there. For their sake not my own.
@-All y'all idiots If someone is camping there/has a tent set up they are likely contemplating suicide still. Volunteers are often sent out to retrieve bodies and if they see a tent they talk to the people inside.
You know my dad wanted to see this place just for the purpose of wanting to see if he can pick up anything spiritual. But we weren’t able to go to the Japan tour due to some issues but hopefully we can go one day

Whenever my parents for some reason decide to go to Japan with us I'd just drag everyone to the forest and walk there all normal with them and tell them afterwards that that's the Suicide Forest. And before you're gonna ask, there's no chance they would know. They know nothing about any other country than the one we live in and the one we came from.
They'd probably react like this: "You good-for-nothing! Are you insane?! What were you thinking? Dragging us into a forest of the dead! With your little brothers even! You really don't have any shame, do you?" And then they'd take my tablet away for a week or so and forbid anime for a month.

I never really thought about it that way but now that you mention it, that's really true. It's depressing, but it's also peaceful. I dont fully grasp the concept of this being scary but I think this is a very good idea for a school trip. Education in japan is hell. Many students end their lives because of how stressful it is. And mental illness and mental healthis rarely talked about and it is stigmatized. I think even an inkling of educating the students about how suicide is never the answer (especially considering the suicide rates) is a good thing

As a hiker mainly covering mountains, forests, and remote areas (I live in Australia so there is a lot of remote areas), I can definitely say there is something seriously wrong with that forest. I have walked through the most dense oceans of trees, ferns, moss and rocks, but nothing felt like that. Just the vibe from the video alone makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Normally looking at a forest you would feel tranquillity, peace, and quite harmony. Something is very wrong in that forest. Just looking at it is unsettling, and I love forests. Honestly, I would never be able to take one step into that place.

Me and my bf accidentally went here (we just followed recommendations of the tourist guide). We hiked for ten minutes and then decided to go back because it felt really eerie and uncomfortable. Mind you, we had no idea that this was the famous suicide forest. Looking back I find it kind of strange that no one in the tourist information center warned us.

If someone is camping there/has a tent set up they are likely contemplating suicide still. Volunteers are often sent out to retrieve bodies and if they see a tent they talk to the people inside.

One of them was really scared of deer and I remember we kept trying to get her to pat one of the deer, which was following her around. He didn’t pat it, but named it “Chase”. Any death by suicide is a tragedy obviously, but let's not pretend like doing so in the middle of a quiet, calm forest is 'the worst' environment and atmosphere to do so. It's sad regardless, but some suicidal people actually think that way and take their lives in this exact forest for that reason.
I never really thought about it that way but now that you mention it, that's really true. It's depressing, but it's also peaceful. I wish the background sounds for this video could be taken off just to show how peaceful and quiet the forest really is. If anything, it's more like a cemetary it's depressing but it's also peaceful.

I dont fully grasp the concept of this being scary but I think this is a very good idea for a school trip. Education in japan is hell. Many students end their lives because of how stressful it is. And mental illness and mental healthis rarely talked about and it is stigmatized. I think even an inkling of educating the students about how suicide is never the answer (especially considering the suicide rates) is a good thing

As a hiker mainly covering mountains, forests, and remote areas (I live in Australia so there is a lot of remote areas), I can definitely say there is something seriously wrong with that forest. I have walked through the most dense oceans of trees, ferns, moss and rocks, but nothing felt like that. Just the vibe from the video alone makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Normally looking at a forest you would feel tranquillity, peace, and quite harmony. Something is very wrong in that forest. Just looking at it is unsettling, and I love forests. Honestly, I would never be able to take one step into that place.
