I do find it interesting that despite being referred to as a dogfish in this movie like in the original book the dogfish is actually more of a prehistoric sea monster than an actual dogfish
At least Spazzatura wasn't that fast. Despite all of his efforts to help carry Geppetto across the ocean, he still couldn't keep him away from the wrath of the Dogfish for he was tiring at that point and his tail was paining. In Disney's remake, Pinocchio was faster than a speedboat it absolutely dispels that sense of fear, but in the original Disney classic, the chase was absolutely perfect. No motors needed, just a family rowing and fleeing for their lives.
love how it looks like how whales were drawn on old maps, with two elephant trunk-esc blowholes, a head like a boar, and back like a island grafted onto the body of a fat bass.
I absolutely adore the Dogfish's physical and sound design completely and I'd take this version over Disney's latest attempt. It's not some overgrown whale or shark, but an actual fictional living breathing sea monster!
What you really mean is you hate the fact that Disney turned the monster that swallows Pinocchio into an almagemation of various sea creatures. Can't say I blame you.
2:21-2:32- I was thinking that the 1940 hand-drawn version of Pinocchio himself who defeated and killed Monstro the Whale with the bomb in order to save Geppetto and the others.
@@Wxyver_n Also one Guillermo del Toro’s favorite movies. The Terrible Dogfish’s death in this movie was likely an homage to the Shark’s death in Jaws.
How is it that they went down the esophagus into the stomach to get sneezed out through the nose and another thing it the dogfish has a waterfall in its mouth that would conclude that his body is curve a lot more than it looked on the outside

Its weird that both 2022 Pinocchio movies have a scene where a main character becomes a motor to swim faster
Haha that's true
GDT's Pinocchio: Spazzatura turns into a motor
Disney's version: Pinocchio turns into another motor

@@LazyOldFusspot_3428 Exactly
It's very important to the lore.
Honestly I found it funny

If anything else, I'd take this design over Disney's mosa-grouper cephalopod in the remake anyday.
It'd called a Sharktopus
@@frostiestcaptain5620 Disney's 2022 monstro basically

I didn't recognize him at first. Thanks, I already edited it
Even so, as Cole from Gears of War 3 would likely say, “That is one, big, UGLY motherfucker!”

A naval mine was a really over the top death for the terrible dogfish
