Just a small bump in the road for the Pioneers as they travelled west to claim their own 650 acre piece of land, hopefully in the Willamette Valley. It would be interesting if the OCTA is able to produce a video showing how many Pioneers of the Oregon Trail did receive their gift of land due to the Homestead Act. Where they ended up settling also. Beautiful Video OCTA.
I was raised in Oregon City, 6 house from Holcomb Rd, which is Oregon trail last cliff side to last round up to celebrate completing Oregon Trail. City allowed a McDonald's to be built there. So now if you travel Oregon Trail you can have McD at it's end!
Round up was at the mouth of Clackamas River where it dumps into Willamette River in Oregon City. So they combined names of both rivers for park name, as in, Clackamette Park. Round corner was Kelly field baseball field were we watched semi pro baseball. Now big buildings are built there in shape of covered wagons filled with museum pieces from Oregon Trail. When wagon train did reenactment of wagon trail traveling, we walked 6 houses down to Holcomb Rd. Which is Oregon trail, telling them, this was the last hillside down to Roundup! Having everyone cheering the end of the journey!
@@dstevens7614 on other side of Willamette River is a running park with blacktop running trails along river. While putting on my running shoes, black rig stops guy wants to know if he can run with me. I tell him all about the history I just told you. About names of salmon fishing holes below the falls. I tell him about all major city deeds are filed in Oregon City courthouse, even San Francisco deed. An I moved all those deeds from upstairs to down stairs. When we got back to our rigs he asked me if I wanted to listen to some of his music. You bet! Born in the USA, I was born in the USA, etc.. I really appreciated you treating me like a brother an not a Rock Star!
What became of the thousands of possessions that was tossed overboard to lighten the wagons ? Am pretty sure today they are all gone. Have you seen any of it displayed in the local museums ? Or in the possession of collectors ?

Great to hear you are doing well!
Excellent story telling and quality footage! The drone captures are beautiful, too.
Thanks Gina!
Those trails are awesome! It’s amazing to me that wagon wheel ruts in the trail still exist, wow.!!!
It really is!
