The problem is that Karate is being taught with competition in mind and (hot take here) most kumite is not realistic since you have to play by rules. Karate IS effective, but for the sake of keeping alumni by not scaring them or "tradition" we don't train realistic Kumite until VERY advanced ranks. I believe we should train everyone on a somewhat realistic fashion sometimes with progressive difficulties each time instead of point kumite all the time.

Technique is basis Waza.
Kata Heian yodan is the fourth kata in Shotokan karate-Do. SHOTOKAN KARATE-DO
