His voice is so iconic. Really as good as Presley. He was just fantastic its such a shame he was taken so soon.
You can go so fan on Darren`s beautiful voice.. But it should also be stated that he wrote such authentic and immersive music to showcase that talent. When the room hears that opening "Mama..." heralding "Please, Mama, Please... it was just a race to the dance-floor. Eternal gratitude..
Terrific hearing this unforgettable song again. Always one of my favorites. He was a wonderful person, too.
Rest In Paradise Darren Spears. So sad that the rockabilly scene was deprived of such a beautiful, irreplaceable voice so early on in the band's career. One of a kind and there will never be another like him.

Every some on this album is gold! I saw the band when they reunited at Viva Las Vegas a few years back. The band sounded great as always, but words cannot describe the open void of Darren not being there.
Not only his voice but his fun personality can not be replaced.

i got into this album due to a chick i was chatting with on "aol hometown" about 15 years ago, and damn she was right! this track is one of my favorite examples of 50's style melancholia, and the rest of the record really bops!

I'm sorry if you don't believe me but my uncle went to high school with Darren its a shame he left us so soon I mean I'm only 31 but I could listen to him sing all day evey day nonstop
Eugene you may not believe this....I was privileged and honored to be Darren's first sister in law. His oldest brother Dennis and I never missed a local gig. We have been together 41 years and the heart ache of losing Darren is the same today as it was the day God took him home.

R.I.P Darren "Lucky Lee" Spears, The GREATEST Rockabilly, most authentic sound EVER, since Sun Records, although they had the privledge to record their album there
We have the taping of them at Sun records. Darren was all over the floor wanting to make sure he walked in every one of Elvis' footsteps.

Elvis was ok, bit too commercialised for me, ended up a soul boy in a laughable white allin one clown suit. Only if he would have followed the footsteps of the Original Pioneer, Singer, Songwriter, Composer, Guitarist, Musical genius Buddy Holly, whom wrote more songs and influenced more musicians than any other recording artist in known history, the first man to dub music and arrange music himself by ear, even still in todays standards whilst others were just driving trucks which he should have have carried on doing. Buddy Holly MADE Rock N Roll, Elvis was just a hanger on then went soulboy
Darren was killed while hunting by a few youths that wanted his gun. I saw him perform many times RIP my friend
Well said. I attended a benefit concert for him at Tornado Alley. It was well attended.It was to help pay his final expenses.
