Wondering why 'Yoga Vasistham or Vasistha Rama Sam Vadam' was skipped. There must be very valid and substantial reason. I think the secrets contained in Yoga Vasistham will be great boon to humanity if you can do a series at your opportune time. I remember reading lot of stories in Yoga Vasistham in Chanda Mama and Bala Mitra while growing up

A brief discussion of Dharma with the whole Vishwamitra episode.
a) He is minding his own business doing Yagna with full focus and devotion
b) His Yagna was disturbed by the Rakshasas
Defenition of Rakshasa : the one who tries to interfere with others business instead of minding thier own.
c) Ravana was in stealth mode and sending the Rakshasas to disturb others work (atlease he is not sending other rakshasas to encourage and manipulate Viswamitra to keep starting new Yagnas so that the Rakshasas can be sent to disturb his Yagnas further).
Viswamithra knows clearly that even if he change the venue and do the Yagna again and again, the Rakshasas sent by Ravana will be there to disturb it as it is the very nature of Rakshasas.
Instead he knows clearly that he first needs to kill the raakshasas and so gets Rama and Lakshmana to protect the Yagna and kill the Rakshasas if they interfere, so that he can peroform the Yagana with full devotion and without disturbance as that is how it should be done and not with keeping up with the stupidity of Rakshasas.
The issue and discussion on this is now considered settled for good and won't be re-explained again and again. Period.

No. he is hesitant to send Rama because he is young, and says he and his army will come, but asks who is the mastermind who is commanding these rakshasas, to which viswamitra says ravana. dasaratha says, forget Rama, even he and his army won't be able to handle the forces of ravana. there is no way this was possible. viswamitra reminds him of his word. and vasista interferes and convinces the king to send Rama. dont change it up. so it happened means so it happened. be it good, bad, boring, amazing. SO IT HAPPENED. the Katha yuk tam part only refers to the smooth flow of the the ithihasa like a story, not additions and ommitions, and subversions in the actual content of the ithihasa.
