As this car was released I had the Very first one in Britain the next day ( was in the Army in Germany at the time ) It was a superb car in its day , friends Still bring it up even today , and I loved it.
Quand j'avais 15 ans j'étais à la plage d'Algarrobo au Chili, dans son front de mer, une renault fuego s'est garée devant le banc où j'étais assis face à la mer, la magie était telle que j'ai commencé à l'admirer et en ai fait le tour complet... mais comme toujours quelqu'un pense que tu veux la voler et a appelé la police..... ...quand les carabiniers sont arrivés...en des temps difficiles...ils m'ont demandé une pièce d'identité...quelle pièce d'identité je leur ai dit...si je me promène avec un maillot de bain, une polaire et des chemises...et rien d'autre !!! ils nous ont dit que tu tournais autour......évidemment je leur ai dit, regarde ce bijou...un jour quand je serai professionnel j'espère qu'il existe encore et je veux l'acheter !!!! ...et si vous voulez me prendre en suspicion pour lui ça vaut le coup...le paco m'a regardé en secouant la tête et m'a dit va-t-en garçon et va à la plage mieux, circule, circule.... Si quelqu'un sait comment et où je peux l'acheter, j'en serai heureux. A los 15 años estando en la Playa de Algarrobo en Chile , en su costanera , se estacionó un renault fuego frente a la banca en la que estaba sentado con vista al mar, tal fue la magia que comence a admirarlo y di una vuelta completa alrededor de él... pero como siempre alguien piensa que lo quieres robar y llamaron a la policia .... cuando llegaron los carabineros ...en tiempos duros... me pidieron identificación...que identificación les dije ...si ando con traje de baño polera y chalas ...y nada más!!! nos llamaron que estas rondándolo......obvio les dije , mire esta joya ...algún día cuando sea profesional espero que aún exista y quiero comprarlo!!! ...y si quieren llevenme por sospecha por él vale la pena...el paco me miro movio la cabeza y me dijo ya vete niño y andate a la playa mejor, circula , circula.... Si alguien sabe como y donde lo puedo comprar , sería feliz
Saw my first Fuego in July '80 somewhere between Geneva and Valence! It was outside a Renault dealership in a pretty little mountain village. Stunning - ousing cool in the heat of a French summer afternoon! Still looks as good today as it did 30 odd years ago!
I'm surprised they didn't mention that this was the the first car with a remote key fob. It wasn't available from the beginning but it is the cars most historic feature despite its unique design. It was also rebadged AMC Fuego stateside.
True! Called the ‘Plip’ named after the engineer who developed it. And it was a first Turbo Diesel Coupé, which was the fastest diesel driven production car back then.
My uncle had one of these cars used to lend it to me all the time it drove really well and handled excellent however it broke down a lot my uncle was a mechanic so it was not a big deal for him he used to tell me he liked this car because it was so futuristic for its time I enjoy driving it I did find it a little under power but overall a good experience
La R18 était plus une familiale dans les versions standard. La fuego n a pas spécialement marché à cause de ses moteurs pas assez puissants (par rapport à sa ligne). N oubliez pas que dans les r18, il y a eu la 4x4, et la turbo en plusieurs versions. Voiture qui a rencontré un très fort succès surtout en Amérique du Sud du fait de sa solidité.
Mein Fuego war ein 2 ltr TX . Ich fuhr ihn von 1984 bis 1989 . Leider war Rost ein Problem bei diesem Pseudo Sportler. Versah ihn mit Alpinblau und einigen , damals erhältlichen Anbauteilen von Elia Sport. Spoiler, Schweller und Kotflügelverbreitung. Er war kein schlechtes Auto!
Gotta love the quirky Fuego. By any sane reckoning, not a very good car, but appealing in a perverse way. Go frogs! I feel like putting some french dressing on my french fries for some reason.
It s a poor an s sport coupe,without the handling. More important is the factories in rhis day of age, when we still had men like miterand Bernard tapie etc. Several cars like dacia nova volvo 440 we re not cheap new per se, but would depriciate so scnd hand. And weren t perfect in design , but ok enough, and had low production numbers. What os low, when the car has no predecessor (well the volvo did) (but 340 was more a national car hollnd as-in lada 1200 or beetle). So it is figuring out if the let s say simca business model would work, knowing factories , in EU many, had way too much staff. Somewhat less, later in life cheap to buy scnd hand. Citroen ax bus model if you will.Apperently we all want expensive cars a hyundai i-20 hybrid look at pricetag, but quality is very high but you cant get good trade in price nowadays for any car.

I own an 84 GTX in Bronze.. Such a fun little car to drive.. Shame I dont drive it as much anymore..
