    Amazing interview - and resonates so much with me. Especially the part with keep on doing things instead of resting when there is some energy there. I really have to remind myself to do this 'mistake' not over and over again

    Oh my goodness, the point about authenticity and not people pleasing was exactly who I used to be. (Drilled into me from my mum) had M.E over 17 years now and am lots better & no longer in a wheelchair for past two years but I just had a relapse. I can see how I pushed myself before and on a family wedding. The nervous system has so much to do with it. Thankyou so much for this video chat. Xx

    Omg this is now one of my favorite recovery videos!! The part where u walk around the block and then do something extra but crash the next day and you feel guilt and cry was sooo real. That’s where I’m at now, and not many ppl talk about that. I feel like many recovery videos are unrelatable or like there’s a veil and I can’t quite see the other side of recovery… it feels like the person does something magical and they’re better… and I’m left wondering what that magic was!?! But this video just showed the struggles of recovery, not only physically but emotionally and how changing our mindset and being aware of our values can help us. It was so clear in this video that it just clicked for me. Thank you so much for putting this videos out there for free bc it give me hope that I can recover, and I’m sorry that others in social media don’t see it that way.
    Anyways, y’all are really helping the collective to believe in themselves and their bodies ability to heal and I thank you so much ❤

  • @andylopez6411
    @andylopez6411 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Wow! I love this interview because it shows how much of self discovery you do on your recovery journey and how this change in mindset can significantly reduce bad stress responses to our bodies.
    Also, I know three women who have CFS/ME in my family & circle of friends, and 1/3 has recovered from it, so even though recovery can seem so improbable, it’s really not. (For the people that get mad at someone for believing in recovery!)
    What I’m worried about is not being able to fully dive into this whole recovery process because of college, I don’t know if that’s gonna be too much of a nervous stimulant for me or not, but somehow I know I’ll get there! 🤍

    • @HealwithLiz
      @HealwithLiz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words, and I agree with your conclusion about reducing the stress response! Yeah, I would expect it's not easy to have a calm nightly routine, for instance, if you're in college and there are parties. But I'm sure your liver and health will thank you for it!! And I know there's coursework pressure, too, but I hope you can figure out a good balance, go easy on yourself, factor in down time, find what you're passionate about, and just have confidence you're doing your best. Sending you my support and encouragement!

    Great interview and a great story that shows newly diagnosed people that recovery is possible straight out of the gate and in a very short amount of time, altho its a very very brief experience of ME/CFS it still shows that healing is possible and what areas are important to consider and work on!
    Lauren, Considering your healing occurred though mind/body work, cognitive and mindset work, nervous system polyvagal theory work and lifestyle factors, (as most peoples do) curious what CFS research you are going to support with the income from your book, as we know medical research into ME/CFS doesn’t/won’t even consider these factors and methods and are only looking for a biological cause to the illness that will lead to a resulting drug treatment as part of the “medical model”.
    You can’t even mention anything to do with healing and recovery or neuroplasticity and brain retraining as part of the BioPsychoSocial model without being abused, harrassed and having comments deleted in most groups sadly, so just wondering if you had a plan for where, what research that donation will go to?
    All the best with your future ventures and book~

      Thanks for your kind words about our interview!! 🙏 Lauren is a great example of early intervention (she did so many things early on that took me years to put together) isn't she. Though I believe it's never too late for anyone. Re: medical model - To me, the nervous system which Lauren talks about is a key part of our biology. And more scientific research continues to come out about the importance of lifestyle factors for supporting our sleep, microbiome, and more. I support any type of research myself, and I get the sense Lauren does, too, though I get what you're saying!

    Thank you so much both of you! I would like to know if was the only treatment you did for Lyme ? Did you decide to not worry about Lyme and work out others things ? I have Lyme too and don’t know which is what cfs or lyme or if I don’t treat lyme if I can improve cfs or the other way around !!

      Hi Clarisse, you're welcome - appreciate your kind words! I remember when I first shared my story getting lots of specific medical questions. Lauren and I are just regular people, and can't actually give you medical advice. Lauren does share how she consulted and expert ND and functional medical doctor, how she improved her diet, how she supported her bodies ability to heal, and the shift she had about her main focus. There is no one-sized-fit-all protocol for either thing you mention. But I hope this gave you some food for thought! Sending you and anyone reading this my support!

      @@HealwithLiz thank you for replying Liz ! I totally understand! I don’t want medical advice, maybe I didn’t expresse myself correctly. It’s more how Laura decided that her symptoms were not caused by the bacteria but cfs instead. Cause some people when find that they have Lyme they choose to look for treatments , so I’m curious how Laura decided that was not the way to go and be with peace with it . Sorry if I didn’t make myself clear , cause i live in this duality!

      @@clarissericardo2313 Yes, get what you mean Clarisse! I just put up the written transcript on my site, including for that part -- though I suspect her book might go into even more. Or if she sees this, and wants to respond. :-) There are definitely recovery stories for both approaches (or a combination), and we each all have to chose what's right for us - there is no wrong answer.♥️♥️♥️

      @@clarissericardo2313 Hi Clarisse, I had another thought. You may want to check out Lindsay Mitchell who herself had your diagnosis. She is @ myvitalside on Instagram. Not medical advice, but worth checking out, as one potential option, knowing that healing can often involve different strategies and methods both medically and mind-body nervous system work wise. You might be familiar with her already. ♥️

    Pls I am 8 months on a very bad situation I need to ask you.. what is your progress now? did you healed 100% , like can you work 10 hours on your feet and after go to gym maybe?
    I am 29 years old guy and that's how I lived before that and I wish one day things come back as it was.

    • @HealwithLiz
      @HealwithLiz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Recovery is possible, and living and even better life is possible. Lauren has a full and active life working full hours and working out, but she also has self-care and is more in tune with her nervous system. She shares it all in her book, which contains many helpful tips, insights, strategies, mantras and more. The first step for many people it seems is surrender and acceptance of where you are now. While trusting in your ability to heal. One thing I'll say though, is if your profession is not your passion or relationships are stressful, this may need to be rethought. The little decisions for your health and calmness add up. The turtles win the race. Sending you my support!
