Thanks for the shoutout Rachel. My trekking poles have saved me many times. The rocky and complicated trails don't give me trouble its the easy ones. I never hike with my hands in my pockets. I'm glad you found a solution to cold hands. 👍
@@NickandRachel that's guite an goal 10,000 Subscribers. Good luck. It seem my friends a d myself seem to be stuck at 4000+. Can't seem to break through to 5000.
Wow that's an amazing looking hike some really good scrambling. That's a good observation about the hands in the pocket by senior hiker. He's so sweet. What a pay off when you made it up there. You guys did great 👍.
Hands Free Hiking! Definitely don't want to fall with your hands in your pockets because that is a great way to loose some teeth! Grandfather Mountain was one of my favorite videos you guys did! This trail still looks pretty difficult! Beautiful view! Save your knees for the future cause you will definitely need them! Great video!
Yeah he definitely made us think about the hands in the pockets! Grandfather Mountain was definitely one of our favorites as well! Along with Mount LeConte. Hopefully we're going to do rainbow Falls trail to Mount LaConte this week. Thanks for checking it out!
Hi, Rachel, I have a tip that you may find useful for cold hands. If you haven't already, try mittens, they are much warmer than gloves due to the fact your fingers are mostly bone and tendon. There is almost no muscle in fingers to generate heat so keeping them all together in mittens rather than separating them in gloves keeps them from losing heat.
Hilarious! Don't use your face for stopping... it hurts! Ya i had to practically carry rugged mountain momma once cause she twisted her ankle real bad on a trail! RMSister would love those rock scrambles! That looked like a fun hike... except for the cold! Great job y'all!!
Yeah I would imagine that don't feel too good 😂 it's never fun getting an injury like that while you're out hiking but unfortunately it does happen sometimes we just got to be extra careful! Oh yeah I'm pretty sure they would love it! Thanks 👍
Oh yeah it was a good one! If you're ever in North Carolina do grandfather Mountain it was way better lots of ropes and ladders to get to the top! The video on that one as well Hope you get the chance to check it out one day 🙂
You really have created a cool look and format for your channel. I wonder how many total steps you guys have gotten while filming TH-cam videos. This is not a beginner trail. But the view on the hike is so good. LOL, hand in the pocket videos, I noticed. Didn’t realize it was for safety. Cool you filmed the tough part. Totally worth the view!
Thanks! That would definitely be interesting to know. It was a really cool trail. Sometimes we use the all trails app when we remember but sometimes we don't even have service we can't track them all. Hiking on the Ridgeline was pretty fun! Send us an email so we can send you out that sticker!
Wow Rachel thanks for the shout out. I wasn't being critical but might be my age. A fall without breaking it with my hands would be devastating. I didn't want you to get hurt. 👌👍
I did a slick one one time in Georgia and it was really scary almost slid into the river below! It was called sliding Rock trail at Tallulah gorge State Park and you got to have a permit to do that trail. The Rock scrambles are really fun though!
Bearfence is definitely a different animal when it's not snow and ice covered! My recent hike up it was very slow going since I had to be mindful of pretty much every step. It was challenging, but the views from top were gorgeous. It's a definite must do hike. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah you definitely got to be careful in those kind of elements! Really starting to enjoy these Rock scramble trails! Hopefully we can get back up there and do Old rag soon!
I was thinking the same thing when we were on the trail. I guess maybe it's a liability issue when it comes to dangerous trails like that. I can't get really foggy up there.
It was a beautiful hike can't wait to go back one day and experience it in a different season! It's nearly 10 hours away from where we live. We have some beautiful areas in Georgia but no national parks. So I feel ya lol
That looks like a great hike! Will definitely have to check that out next time we pass through the area! Haven't done any true rock scrambling like that for quite a while. Challenging but epic. :) Thanks for sharing guys! - Shane
Yeah this trail was really fun! Just wear some good shoes and watch your step! If you're looking for even more challenging Rock scrambling hike check out grandfather Mountain! We made a video there a while back and it was our favorite hikes of last year! Thanks for watching!
It awesome that both of you enjoy this and time together i miss hiking my better half hates heights so i guess I'll live a little vicariously with yall thanks for taking us along and taking time out to edit out video
Oh yeah we enjoy every minute we get out there! Maybe try a Facebook hiking group and see if you can find someone to hike with on the weekends? Well I'm glad you can live through our videos and you enjoy them!
Always good to know your skill level so you don't overdo it for sure. There's mountains I want to hike but I know I just can't right now need to work my way up to them! Glad you enjoyed this episode 😊 Really did have a great view at the top!
I actually did this hike with my brother on a cold, windy, rainy, and foggy day last october. Its nice to actually see some of the views this time lol. I thought the hike was pretty intense personally especially considering the weather we had. It starts off not to bad, but definitely has some steep drop offs and one or two technical sections. Great video guys, appreciate you!
Yeah that would have been pretty intense doing it with slippery rocks! The views were incredible up there! We did grandfather Mountain and really high winds we were getting blown around up there lol. Now that was a really fun hike! Thanks for watching 😀

That's a great tip! Thank you! I definitely should switch over. I basically use my gloves as mittens anyway cause I curl my fingers down inside.
That is a really rocky trail!
Yeah you definitely need some good hiking shoes for this one!

Seems like a great workout and a fantastic view at the top.
It definitely gets the blood pumping lol
Bearfence: well that's appropriately named!
Yeah it was! It was a really fun hike though 😁
Yeah don’t twist your ankle. I’ve done that before. That hike looked a bit tough but pretty cool.
Haven't twisted an ankle on a hike before but really tweaked my knee before! That wasn't fun it was on a snowy Mountain. This was a really fun hike!

Definitely will check that out next time I’m in Shenandoah! Have you tried Old Rag yet?
You'll like it it's really fun! No we planned on doing Old rag while we were there but we ran out of time. Definitely going to check it out next time!
Wow Rachel thanks for the shout out. I wasn't being critical but might be my age. A fall without breaking it with my hands would be devastating. I didn't want you to get hurt. 👌👍
No problem! Oh yeah we know 🙂 we appreciate the pointers never really thought about it before you said something.

Love rock scrambles like those, but imagine they would be quite difficult even just a little slick!

Did they really have to go and paint every 24 inches like damn!
I was thinking the same thing when we were on the trail. I guess maybe it's a liability issue when it comes to dangerous trails like that. I can't get really foggy up there.
That looks like it was a beautiful hike, I wish I had parks near me that looked like that… and those rock features were crazy!
