A learning process for me. Love how you went about creating this painting, being loose, but confident with your strokes. And, please laugh! You have a beautiful laugh! Made me smile!
What I enjoy most, I think, is how you make the viewer feel like we are in your studio with you. Like friends invited to watch and chat with you, if that makes sense.
So enjoyed both Part 1 and Part 2! I learned a lot from these. I always come away with any of your tutorials having learned something. Cheers my friend!XOX❤️❤️❤️
Love this painting, you're work is so soothing. Your laugh is just fine by the way ! Thankx for showing us all your artistic abilities!!!! Great work!!
Oh, Diane, how lovely this turned out! I love how the burnt umber/Payne’s gray bleed made those centres pop. I absolutely love using the Arches cold press block(s) but as many have expressed, I tend to be too precious about it. Thank you for this wonderful 2-part series ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your comment Didi, and I hope that it will help to encourage people to use their Arches paper to know that if it goes badly "wrong" you can wash off the paint with water, let it dry and start again!
I really enjoyed watching your thought processes and how free and easy it turned out. Like a breath a fresh air! I often use Arches, it’s a good one! Thank you so much. 😊.
A lovely field of flowers ❣️ I love Arches blocks. A dear friend who’s a very talented watercolorist advised me to use it. And often I use Etchr postcards, which are also 100% cotton. I can manage only one painting per week and so the cards and blocks lasts a long time.
Lovely -- nicely loose and breezy ! Actually makes me happy -- will try --and thank you so much ❤-- I use Arches most of the time and like it-- i like the blocks.
So glad you enjoyed it Linda, and yellow does make people happy (usually!!!) but it's hard to paint with, for me anyway. These weren't too bad - all things considered!
What a varied style you have. After watching part one of this painting yesterday, I tried it. I am told that my first layer is lovely and I’m anxious to try the second layer like you did in this video. Thanks so much for keeping us inspired!💙🌵
I am eternally grateful to you Diane! Thank you so much. I do feel as if part of my problem is our dry weather, but I also admit I have a far way to go. Someone on one of the channels said you need about 10 years to get really good and confident with watercolor painting! Well, I do't have 10 years (well, let's pray...) But today is overcast and I am ready to hop in and give it a try to see. I'll check in with you soon. xoxoxoxo D
Denise, I'm eternally grateful to you too! Don't blame yourself, or your weather, or anything else in fact! Quite a few people have remarked that Arches isn't what it used to be, and that the pads are worse than the sheets. But I found this pad quite reasonable, once you get to grips with it. I've just done a pair of cardinals, not wet in wet at all, and they worked quite nicely. Maybe you'll try that one when it goes up later in the week?
It came out great! I love the tip of using the stencil brush for texture on the flower centers. I'm pretty sure I have some of those. Not sure, however, if I have a filbert brush! I'm going to dig around and see if I have one. I was out shopping today. A friend of mine told me that Job Lots (kind of discount store) has art supplies and specifically watercolor paper. I found Strathmore 400 series and a Strathmore Visual Journal that's 100% cotton, for mixed media. I got one of each to test out. If I like them I'm going back to buy them all LOL
I can't wait to try this! I'm not a very loose painter, so this will be a challenge. I have some Arches paper squirreled away might as well use it.right?lol
Hi Diane, I was born in and lived in a little village, called Ticehurst 10 miles south of Tunbridge Wells. I wonder if we went to the high school together? I went to 6th form there in TW.
Since arches sold, their paper isn’t as good. Some sheets in pads or blocks may be ok, and others are not at all. However, in the sheets its fine. I switched to Hanhnemule Collection. Love the painting!
Thanks so much, and I appreciate the input about Arches. I'm going to get some new sheeets to compare and I'm going to buy Hahnemuhle and Fabriano which I know I like, when I have to stock up. Meanwhile for practice work I don't think you can go wrong with Clairefontaine Etival (also a Canson product) and Bockingford from the UK.
May I ask where you purchased the small cups (dish) you have your watercolor in? I love how you are able to mix enough color and keep colors from blending. I live US....
You're right, of course that's what I should do! I'm too busy worrying about the camera keeping things in shot, I ought to cut myself some slack! Thanks Judy!
This is such a pretty composition, Diane! I think it would make a wonderful gift. Love how you used the colors, and a Filbert brush. I’ve only used a Filbert a few times, but think they are great for petals. What type of paper did you use for lifting paint out. I could hear the crinkle, but didn’t recognize the paper. It seemed to work so well. Hope you’re had a lovely weekend!
Hi Constance thanks so much, really appreciate your feedback! I just used kitchen towel for the lifting out, nothing special at all. I think toilet paper would have worked, or kleenex. Anything. The paper gives the paint up very readily. Quite odd!
A learning process for me. Love how you went about creating this painting, being loose, but confident with your strokes. And, please laugh! You have a beautiful laugh! Made me smile!
Thank you so much! Much appreciate your thoughts, Thanks for commenting xxx

Dianne - thank you! No glass of wine in my hand today but enjoyed this nonetheless!
Excellent Deanna, so happy!
I am going to paint this tomorrow and hoping I can frame it🌻💐🥀
Lovely,always like these flowers
Wonderful. I love watching layer by layer making the painting come alive. I also decided I had to have a filbert brush and ordered 2 sizes.
Wonderful! You won't regret the brushes I'm sure, well done!!!
Thank you Diane..as always a beautiful painting..
I have a nice supply of Arches but occasionally I do the precious treatment with it. These black-eyed Susan's look like fun to paint.
They were!
As always a great presentation inspirational and relaxing video Diane. I give Arches a thumbs up too
Thank you so much! Yes, it is different but in a good way!

Thank you. I enjoyed this tutorial so much. Can't wait to try this on my own.
Have fun! So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, Diane for the tutorial. Once again, learnt a lot of technics!
You are so welcome! So glad you enjoyed it Ina!
Love the painting~! Thank you! To me, Arches is good, but expensive..... : )
I totally agree!

Fantastic - I'm sure Strathmore will be fine for most things. Good find! So glad you are enjoying the videos!
Nice art work ..
Thank you so much 😀

You can do it! And I think that Arches paper needs to be used. And possibly ABused!
Hi Diane, I was born in and lived in a little village, called Ticehurst 10 miles south of Tunbridge Wells. I wonder if we went to the high school together? I went to 6th form there in TW.
Out of chaos (mine) sometimes comes unexpected beauty.
I like that philosophy!

From Amazon, something like this: amzn.to/41d6cra
I love it. I know what you mean about going too far but I don't think so here.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it!
Tire upside down for the left side, lol.🌹🇨🇦

@@DianeAntoneStudio Yes, Diane, I was amazed at how well the color lifted! I thought maybe the kitchen towel that you used made the difference.
