  • Hey guys this week I wanted to show you how to make your own kombucha at home. For the longest time I wanted to start making kombucha but I never really found the time. In this weeks video I show you the scoby I bought from Amazon and the step by step on how to make some delicious tasting kombucha!

Good video on making kombucha from a starter, very simple. Some people manage to over complicate this process for some reason.

    Hi there.
How many times can we use the scoby for? Do we have to reuse the scoby straight away or can I keep it in fridge or room temperature to use it for next use?
Upon completion of brewing in 6 days, and ready to drink, do we store the brewed tea in fridge or room temperature?
    Thank you for your video
    Love from England

Great questions. The scoby can be reused over and over and will generate new scobies. Copied "Your kombucha culture or SCOBY is shelf-stable, so it doesn't require refrigeration. If you just bought a SCOBY, It's best to keep it at room temperature until you are ready to brew. If you are in-between brews, just store it in a jar with a cloth cover much the same as your primary fermentation." For longer pauses I place mine in the fridge along with some brew in a container for up to 3 months but it looks like the preferred method would be scoby hotel.
All the best from Canada 😊

Hey Cornel, I just used regular white sugar as I had to "borrow" some from my mom. I think it's recommended to use organic cane sugar 🙂

I tried to order the Scoby that You ordered from Amazon but it said that it does not ship to my area is there another Scoby on your list that will suffice or will any scoby do? Thanks

Hi Howard, are you located in Canada? I ordered it off Amazon.ca and I'm not certain they sell this brand on Amazon.com (USA). Looking into the product a little further it is a Vancouver based company and it looks like their prices are just as good as amazon but they're sold out of many products. brewyourbucha.com/ I think if you're buying one online just look for lots of good reviews...otherwise maybe ask around in your local area. Someone is bound to be brewing some and may have an extra scoby 😊

West Coast DIY Mama thank you for responding so quickly. I live in Houston Texas and that’s probably why I can’t order that pacific brand they probably only sell it in Canada. I am like you I’ve been wanting to make kombucha for two years now but never got around to doing it. Could you please tell me what does kombucha taste like and what is the purpose of it is it a health drink.

@@howardbellamy6301 I'm really happy I gave it a go. I already have another scoby from the mother so it's very easy to propagate and have more than you need. Kombucha is a fermented drink. The Scooby eats the sugar and in return makes the drink bubbly leaving little sugar remaining. It's got some good probiotics and acetic acid which is good for gut health. Not certain about the cons but perhaps to much could be hard on your teeth... Also keeping a clean batch is important for health and safety.

Any scoby will do. If you can't get one buy some organic kombucha and mix it with tea and sugar. Put it in a jar and leave out at room temperature and a scoby will eventually form.
