BEST video on disassembly/reassembly I have seen. Some videos are saying to rotate (load) the spring 3 full turns yet Ruger states 1 and 1/4 turns or 8 flats. You confirmed that here thank you, some people making videos should probably confirm what they are telling people before posting them. You made this look easy, loved the reassembly process, I saw others struggling with it. I'm not scared to do this anymore thanks to this :)
Thanks. I used your instructions to get an old 10/22 magazine running again. I did have to use a jeweler file to smooth out some rough spots on the spindle grooves where the first couple of rounds were getting hung up.
Love the video, have 3 mags that are so old they have slotted screws instead of allen screws ( previously owned rifle from my youth ). What I did was squirt some ballistol in the feed ramps, let them soak for a day and then dissambled. After scrubbing up I soaked the parts in dawn to remove oily residue ( soap and water ) for an hour after agitation, rinsed them and put them on a towel to dry. Oil free and clean. Hope that helps.
Marking the rotation spot witha sharpie is brilliant. Can't miss 8. First time I assembled one I only had 7 but thought it was 8. Had many feeding problems toward end of the magazine. The sharpie marks make it very easy to not miss the rotation amount. Finally cleaned my magazine on the 40 year old Ruger. Yes, it was filthy.
By mistake I bought a 5 round magazine. Found this video in disassembly, open up the mag and cut off the plastic stop prohibiting the magazine from holding 10 rounds.
Lovely video! My 10/22 has been struggling to feed the last 3 rounds almost everytime now, but was a bit cautious about taking it apart in fear of loosing springs etc. Runs smooth as butter now!! Thanks!!
Very helpful, thanks. My magazine decided it was going to stop feeding rounds through at the range today, and a good clean appears to have sorted it out.
An incredible amount of crud will build up internally, and externally on the 10/22 mags. Eventually they will not work properly. Most would be to intimidated to give a go at disassembly, but it's not all that bad, as this video shows. Regaining propper spring tension is the tricky part of the whole affair. But cleaning and maintenance are more warranted than with most any other magazine. Give it a try if your mag is not functioning correctly. What do you have to loose ? Good job.
Anybody still watching these magazine take apart, get small zip tie, go around the mag slip it below the nut and screw, , loosen the screw enough push it so the nut release from the mag, then take it out, slip zip tie off the top, put back together, put zip tie back on, mark the nut put the screw in so starts on the nut, then use a small box end 11mm wrench, craftsman, then just turn it 8 flats or 1 and 1/4 turns, push it in the mag, tighten the screw, all done, easy easy, slip the zip tie off the top,
I got 3 supposedly brand new official Ruger mags and they don't really function at all....Bullets are hard to get in & then they don't move out, they get stuck in the mag....I spent hours taking them apart & adjusting tension, etc....What a waste of time, they're nothing like the mag that came w/my rifle.
I would like to bring something to everyone's attention ...I have a original . "old" , version 1 ? ...10/22 rotary mag. It has the small Allen head screw that is 5/64th's !!! not 9/64th's which seems to a later ( current? ) design . I also have the newer mags with the 9 /64ths Allen head disassembly screw.
Things you should have included: 1. Orientation of the rotator 2. Orientation of the spring inside the rotor 3. Camera angle that shows the actions you’re talking about. Couldn’t see a damn thing
It's not "cop" it's "CLP", you can see the black can behind the green one. It's a gentile solvent. As long as you use something that does not react too harshly with plastic you will be fine.

Best video on the reassembly I have seen yet

On point, no BS, great work - thanks!
Perfect. Just what I needed to know. Thank you.
Thanks for watching

Great video. I've been having malfunctions with mine and have been kinda nervous about tackling this. Back up and running now. Thank you!
You're a legend! I never saw that diple on the nut got it back together in 2 minutes after struggling for 20
Thank you! Great video. Perfect simple instructions. Just did mine, piece of cake after watching your video.

I had never heart about hoppes being a "panty dropper"
That's hysterical 🤣 😂 😆
I think can i think can I think can 😊
Thank you for your time.
Excellent video. Good job.

I have always used the side plastic plate to turn the spring.
"They might not have any teeth!" Classic!!
Good lesson but I use parallel jaw pliers versus needle nose pliers.
Perfectly explained! Thank You!
Thanks, desperately needed to know how many turns on the nut
AWESOME video, Thank You ! ! !
Awesome thanks man

I think this video is great. Thanks for not making it a music video.

Why do you need to clean the magazine how often
Because 22 is a dirty round and after awhile crap gets built up on the feed lips.
Mrbill approves!
Smokedy?

Just had 3 out of the box that felt too loose
The hoppes smell makes me lightheaded I always clean in a well ventilated area
Things you should have included:
1. Orientation of the rotator
2. Orientation of the spring inside the rotor
3. Camera angle that shows the actions you’re talking about. Couldn’t see a damn thing
Hoppes worked much better when it still had benzene in it.
AND IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH WOMEN WITH NO TEETH? 😂😂😂
I prefer no teeth!
Could be bad, scent will probably attract more men than women!
Thanks for sharing. ✌️🤠
Can you tell me what “COP” is that you use to clean the parts with? Is a “gun scrubber” aerosol ok to use in this application? Thanks
It's not "cop" it's "CLP", you can see the black can behind the green one. It's a gentile solvent. As long as you use something that does not react too harshly with plastic you will be fine.
@@ZeroJoJoZero Thank you. I noticed it after I sent my question. Thanks for the video!
