- Welcome my new renovated apartment in Moscow!
It used to be the old-style soviet kind of apartment, but now it has completely changed. We made a studio from the one-bedroom apartment by destroying the wall. In this apartment tour I show you the design, how everything looks now and tell you the process of the renovation: what necessary steps we had taken in order to make everything legally.

WOW what a difference from the apartment that you moved into, especially the bathroom. We have exactly the same in the UK - its called Planning permission, it is there to ensure that people do not go crazy and knock down load bearing walls, and take out lintels that are supporting the building. Most important in a high rise building. Imagine if someone on a lower floor decided to make their whole apartment open plan and took out all the walls, nothing above would be secure! I love the apartment and the balcony could be made into a tiny bedroom if you needed another room. Much nicer now that you have taken all the stickers off the windows, and that immersion heater is gone from the bathroom. My Grandmother had one of those in the 60's. Does you electric cost a lot to run??? We now have systems that run on gas - yes gas, it heats the water and it is only the water that is flowing through the building. The gas/generator is outside of the building so no gas is actually being pumped into the building (for safety reasons). The local councils, have this system going 24 hours a day for every home in the high rise, and there is a standard fee. A heating cost. It means you can have hot water and heating 24 hours a day every day, for a set price. it is a much better way of heating the building at a lower cost. The buildings are so hot, you feel the heat in the emergency stairs, where there is no heating. Excellent for the winter.

I think the high wall outlet would be for a room air conditioner.
You could mount a wall mounted oscillating fan on the higher outlet.
Yes! The one which is on the wall with window is for the air conditioner, and the other one was designed to plug in TV :)

This became a charming beautiful apartment from the rather plain old worn looking place. I love it all but I think the. Sliding closet door is so cute. And your balcony offers a place in the summer to relax. Just a lovely spot. And the place you imagined is quite pretty.
Anna you are so beautiful and precious. Iam from the United States I live in the South. Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Your renovations came out so good. I love it. I live in a house so apartment living was never even considered between me and my husband. I can just let you know we renovated our home and we didn’t have to have any type of permits / documentations from our city or government. It really depends on where you live to what that city might require. We are lucky where I live I suppose. Anyways, I look forward to following you. Thank you so much! :) I think generally if you renovate the house (in Russia too) you don't need any permits, but as for the apartment you need them, because the building might be old, or constructed the way you can't do some works you want.

Incredible. I had just finished your before video and then watched your renovation. You have a great eye for detail and design. Anna, your apartment is beautiful. When you were showing the balcony area and mentioning the cold I thought that how handy it is in cold weather countries to have another refrigerator and freezer just outside - like here in Canada as well. (I use my balcony as more fridge space in winter.) Anyway, I do love what you have done with the apartment space. The kitchen and bathroom are spectacular

To help keep your apartment warmer
You can use a roll of see through plastic and duck tape to cover the windows in your apartment and the balcony
Also use weather strips to put around front door and back door and windows before you duck tap plastic over the windows in apartment and back porch sitting area
Saves money on heating your apartment
Why are you not allowed to heat the Enclosed back porch
I have an 80cm TV with some HDMI ports that I use for my computer. It is big enough for me. I am nearly 74 years old and am just getting over Covid-19. Since I am isolating I have time to explore TH-cam more. I like Train Ride videos, boat ride, walking in towns and such. I play with electronic circuits also. I am retired.

When we remodeled our 2 complete bathrooms we had to also get permission from our city. They make sure that the companies we hire are doing the work according to legal and safe conditions

The socket is for a kitchen clock. Very popular in the fifty's when the building was built.

Looks really nice and big difference compared to how it was originally. Must be so nice to live in Moscow and very lucky to get a city centre apartment.
The sockets are for picture lamps. You hang the frame/picture then, the picture lamp gets connected to the socket. Picture lamps can be attached to the frame or to the wall (follow manufacturers instructions). Art get display this way; take a look in art galleries or museums. Great feature!!
Forgot to mention, the suckers normally are hidden behind the picture; you have one very high up on the wall, will need some creative hanging. ☺️

In the USA such high wall outlets were installed for electric clocks, especially in kitchens.
I'm late to the party, but for those extra sockets- use the high one on the ceiling for RGB lighting, and use the one the on the lower deco wall for a smart mirror. Just some suggestions, I love your videos by the way!

Try this: move the shelves in sleeping area to where the desk is now, move the wardrobe to where the shelves were in sleeping area, then build a desk where the wardrobe was?

Love the renovation! You totally have enough room for a countertop dishwasher. You could get a white one and put it next to your sink to drain right away, or somewhere else if think of something creative. If you plumb a dedicated water line to it you don't even need to tie up your sink. You can plumb the drain too, but it seems easy enough to let it drain in the sink when it is running

Very nice renovation, congratulations. For the dishwasher, I have had one for 30+years and I have maybe used it twice. It takes up too much precious space imo. The balcony adds a lovely extra space. Well done.
