Dog beaches are a haven for dogs and provide them with an opportunity to be social, active, and have a great time. Whether they are meeting new friends or playing frisbee with their human, dogs enjoy every moment they spend at the beach.
LOCATION: DOG BEACH DEL MAR
Dog Beach in Del Mar, California is a popular off-leash beach where dogs are allowed to run and play without a leash. It is located in North County San Diego and stretches from 29th Street to the north end of Solana Beach. The beach is open to dogs all year round, but during the summer season, lifeguards are present and dogs must be leashed. The beach is known for its cleanliness, friendly atmosphere and beautiful coastal views. Street parking north of the bridge requires payment and is very strictly enforcement, but parking south of bridge is free. There are portable restrooms and permanent volleyball courts on the beach.

Aww 🥰 love to see the doggies. The beach gives an added touch and ambiance. I know it defeats the purpose of the beach, but what about doing a doggie park edition?😃

I initially intended to do do some dog parks and tried one but it didn't work for several reasons:
- Grass is generally cut too tall to run the car much faster than a walk, so it doesn't look as good.
- Dirt parks in SoCal are full of a very fine dust. Sand is coarser, so it mostly bounces off the car and cameras, or is wiped off easily. Fine dust does not. Dust also jams the motors.
- People are not as accepting of doing this in a confined area like a dog park as they are a large open beach, especially when they don't know the purpose.
- Most dog parks are fenced with corners. Dogs don't react well if they happen to run into a corner.
