I miss my Springfield 1911A1 Mil-Spec model, which came stock with a match grade barrel and was highly accurate right out of the box. After about an 800 round break-in period, a had a gunsmith essentially turn it into a Kimber target model (the Kimber becoming available on the mark one month after I bought the Springfield), with a tuned speed trigger, high beavertail, extended thumb safety and Bo-Mar adjustable target sights. I fine pistol that I retired and sold after over 14,000 rounds, mostly reloaded by me with a single stage reloading press.
@@beardedslavbrew615Not unless it has a super desirable specific provenance, or maybe if it was actually new in box. Cmp 1911s were a little under a grand not long ago but their market is kind of ballooning right now, and is thusly pretty wacky.
Nice. I've got a 1921 commercial Colt government model my grandfather brought back from Belgium/WW2 He had won it from a captain (i believe) in the French underground one evening in a poker game....he took it to a scissor maker in Belgium who polished and blued it, IIRC. He obviously did a fantastic job because it almost appears to have an overall slight "dehorn" or "melt" job and still a very deep, rich, blue job! Interestingly, after the war he stored it in his dresser drawer where he also had placed a fully loaded mag...had been loaded since 1945 wirh 1945 dated .45acp ammo. We took it out shooting every so often when i was growing up.... After 20yrs or so, I just HAD to find out about that particular mag tho', so I ran that particular mag thru' it and it ran perfectly. Ha! I eventually inherited the Colt when my grandfather passed. However, my FIRST pistol was a series 80 Colt Combat Commander I received for my 21st birthday. Sadly, I no longer own that one....unfortunately it fell victim to the inexperience of an ignorant kid who decided he just HAD to carry a Glock instead. 😮 Don't get me wrong, I actually still carry/compete with a Glock....I was simply too naive to realize Glocks would always exist a dime a dozen but the nice Colts would eventually dry up and go away. Stupid fkn kids... smh

Ruger 1911 daily carry here too. It’s a 5 inch government model. I’m only 32, but I love the classics and all steel pistols the best.
