I had the same experience with my machine as Vicki Bott. I brought it home and went to change the foot the little black plastic piece broke. I contacted my seller and was told the ankle is on back order. She took one off her machine and am using that one until a new one comes in.
I love my new Epic 2 that I bought four days ago with two little exceptions. A tiny, black piece broke off the the bottom of the shaft when I tried to change the foot. I can't find a replacement anywhere. Also, IMHO, it's pretty heavy. Since my shaft broke, I can't use it to offer any other judgments.
The same thing happened to me! And I knew how to change the feet because I've been using a Viking machine for years with the same mechanism. I found a replacement at a Viking dealer inside a Joanns store in Matthews, NC for $12.95. I was also able to locate one for $18.95 at an on line sewing site which I think was www.sewingonline.com
Here's a clarification of my previous comment. The Epic 2 shaft is not identical to the Epic original shaft. I ordered an Epic original shaft and am crossing my fingers that it will work on the Epic 2.
Love mine!
The light is so bright you can't see her demonstration.
