    You are a Viking Ambassador? Well done, Viking. Finally, someone I can relate to, who considers cost, who watches what other people do on TH-cam, who learns and shares, and gives credit when an idea is not original, but very useful, and thank you for that. I hope you do lots more videos. I subscribed.

      @@TheBennyShow-n1uI really appreciate the feedback! If you have a local Husqvarna Viking dealer near you, they may have the USB or maybe even a newer one. When I visited my local Michael’s, the Singer shop in there had some USB drives so hopefully you can find one at your local store.

    I purchased the New Brothread 63 spool kit from Amazon that you recommended. I can't believe how nice it is. and I love the card with the colors and the complimentary nets to keep my spools neat. Such a reasonable price for so much thread.

    Just a little advice. On the Husqvarna machine, there should be a "FIX" button, which allows you to affix the fabric to the tearaway. This ensures that the material does not shift position whilst being embroidered. Once you've found the center of where you want to place the design, push the FIX button and start.

    If you embroider on fabric that has a nap, like towels or fleece, use a topper stabilizer that is "wash away". You will still use a stabilizer on the bottom of the fabric, but the wash away stabilizer on top will prevent the nap of the fabric from sticking up through your design and "distorting" the image. Once your stitching is done, simply wash the fabric or run it under water in the sink and it will simply disappear, leaving your embroidery design looking great. To "float" stabilizer on top of fabric (which means you don't hoop the stabilizer, you just lay it on top of your fabric) I've seen people use sewing pins at the corners and pin the stabilizer down to the fabric. Obviously, you would place those pins well out of the way of your stitching area. I've been told the best designs on knit t-shirts are less densely stitched designs. Those embroidery designs are ones that are similar to your elephant design, as it had areas that aren't filled with the satin stitching, like the flamingos. The flamingos are of a more densely stitched design, which is more suitable for woven fabrics. That's not to say you can't use a dense design on a t-shirt, you just have to have the right amount of stabilizer to support that design on stretchy fabric. Stabilizer is a key component in machine embroidery in order to have a design stitch out properly and not become distorted. You're off to a fantastic start!!

  • @MsHighpeaks

    Love the elephant. Always check you have the right embroidery needle as you would with sewing. Your fabric needs to be “drum” tight when you frame it. Sometimes it helps to attach your fabric to the interfacing with a little 505 spray. What a fantastic machine. I have a brother and Janome, both a few years old now but still going strong,

    • @helenparker1870
      @helenparker1870 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would advise against pulling the fabric too tight, this was advice I was given when I first started to embroider, but it can leave the design looking puckered when you release the tension on the fabric when you take it out of the hoop. The stabiliser can be drum tight as it is non stretch, but the fabric needs to be smooth but not too tight. You appear to be using a jersey fabric, I would suggest using a cut away stabiliser rather than a tear away to stop the design stretching out of shape and threads popping as you wear the garment. An iron on stabiliser might be best. Make sure to enable the trim command, or manually trim the jump stitches in between colours, you appear to be stitching over the jump threads which will be very difficult to remove at the end of the stitch out. I love Embroidery Library designs but they can be very dense, verging on ‘bullet proof’ for some of their older designs. I always open them up in software and check the density before attempting to stitch them out. It is easy to reduce the density, in the Premier Plus embroidery software.

  • @janielewis1475
    @janielewis1475 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Corey Fisher is correct with her suggestion of trimming the jump threads. It's easy to do between color changes. The egg carton idea is something I wish I knew about years ago when I was doing more embroidery. I found that some of the FSL designs have so many stitches they need to have the density decreased. Get in touch with Embroidery Library, they may have some helpful suggestions. Something I did when I purchased new designs is stitch them out on muslin. I then put the finished product in plastic sleeves in a notebook. That way I knew exactly what it really looks like, what size it was and could preview it on a garment.

    Excellent tutorial. I have been there, done that where I had stitched four Safari animals on a canvas like fabric to make a tote bag for my friend living in Africa. All looked great and the last animal, the elephant, came out in a similar situation to your unicorn horn. The trunk was not lined properly and I realized the arm had hit against something or was jarred which threw off the calibration. My remedy when this happens, first always hit the button that saves your stitch number if the machine should happen to stop during a stitch out. Turn the machine off immediately when the arm has been hit or jarred if you are there and saw it happen.😢. Remove the hoop. Remove the out of place stitches. Turn machine back on as it will calibrate. Machine will take you back to where you left off, go backwards to where you were to go over reinforcing the last correct stitches and it should finish from there.

  • @jimsmith3535
    @jimsmith3535 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hey Brittany:
    There can be several reasons why the unicorn design did that-firstly-I would do another test stitch. If the horn, etc...still does that, contact the digitizer-sometimes things are not digitized correctly.
    Another reason is that the fabric wasn't straight and taut in the hoop.
    Another reason can be your choice of stabilizer's.
    Sometimes I have had problems with the stitch outs because of the thread.
    Those are the first four that I would check.
    I have bought designs from reliable digitizer's-and occasionally there is a problem.
    If you think that is the problem after a second stitch out- contact them and give them all the info of: fabric, thread, stabilizer, etc...that was used-and send them photos of the stitch outs. They are more than happy to help you! :+)
    I hope this helps.
    I have been embroidering for 20 years, and also own a Viking.

    I love Urban Threads. I'll have to purchase that elephant. It's beautiful. One suggesstion. When choosing your stabilizer use a cutaway stabilizer for clothing. It helps the stitches stand up better to laundering. Tear away eventually will fall apart causing the stitching in the design to collapse. For knit fabrics there is polymesh stabilizer.

    • @brittanyjjonestv
      @brittanyjjonestv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have thousands of designs and lots of Urban Thread designs! My favorite! I own the Baby Lock Spirit. Please, feel free to ask any questions. For this elephant, try slowing down your stitching. I agree, I use Pellon tear-away for vinyl, burlap, denim, etc. I use Pellon cutaway for most things! Be sure your stabilizer and fabric is tight! Have fun!

      I think you are inquiring about doing your own digitizing. Am I right? While I am not all that familiar with the Epic, when I purchased my Designer I, my recall is that it came with a digitizing program. After a few years though, it become obsolete and I purchased an more current digitizing program. If you are an artist and can draw beautiful designs, with the programs, you can digitize them yourself. However, there are so many sites online which sell various designs at very reasonable prices, that I decided it was not worth my time to try to digitize my own designs. I found it to be very time consuming.

    Brittany, congrats for your new embroidery machine. I tell you what happened to your little pony design. The embroidery arm was hit by accident while the machine was embroidering. Also make sure the machine is far enough from the wall, if you are using larger hoops, and embroidering on the bottom of the hoop the top of the hoop will hit the wall, decalibrating the embroidery arm, and messing up the design. Ask me how do I know? I have a Viking Diamond Royal, I learned the lesson on my own.

    I have a Designer Ruby Royale and love it. So glad you are branching out with new things. Suggestion would be to get a thread stand. I had problems with thread getting caught and then ruining the design or breaking a needle. With the thread stand I have not had a problem since. I got the 20 thread stand and it helps to organize like your egg carton. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UQTHUTO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Another saying is "If you wear it, don't tear it" Use cutaway for clothing. For some dense designs I layer tear way then a layer of cutaway no show mesh. For doing designs directly on t-shirts I float rather than stretch in the hoop. Make sure to use a ball point needle for t-shirts or anything that is knit such as baby onesie.

    Sometimes you need to use cut away as your stabilizer. Use the lite weight first to test.

    Hey, thanks for the video. I'm having trouble with the MySewMonitor app - I'm getting phone notifications, but the app itself is not showing the progress or alerting me within the app. Any suggestions?

    Love my Epic, bought it when it first came out but haven't used it much as there is no support where I live. I'm not interested in upgrading to the Epic 2 but do you know, being an Ambassador for Husqvarna, will we be able to purchase the ribbon unit attachment to fit onto our Epic 1's?

    Girl you’re going to make me pull out my embroidery machine that I’ve been sitting on. What pattern is your shirt? Is the fabric cotton?

      Pull it out! I'm having so much fun learning embroidery and finding new ways to create! You'll love it! The pattern I used was McCalls 7630 View B and yes the fabric was 100% cotton.

    If you use stretchy fabric then float so not to stretch...if you test a design to make sure how it sews then use cotton..so it dosent stretch...floating you will find on you tube

    I find that some embroidery designs I download off of various sites might be too dense or even have a glitch or two. Usually if there is a problem it’s I haven’t picked heavy enough fabric for the design cause it is so dense. Some embroidery software will allow you to change density. But for those dollar or two designs why bother.
