- This is a 28mm wargame AAR using the Spectre Operations rule set. The LSW Kota Bharu, a Malaysian cargo ship is captured. The Marines of the Maritime Raid Force attempt to retake the ship before she is scuttled. The 9ft. ship in this game is entirely scratch-built. Outstanding ship terrain! The overall structure is great, and the internal levels allow for some challenging room-to-room clearing, but those little details like the Pepsi machine and the unrolled map are even more immersive

I love the, I assume, "de-milled" Bren gun as it makes for a very striking conversation piece! I saw a similar one for sale at an antique store years ago and was instantly anamored with it.
Definitely love the game set-up and play as well. Pre-Covid, did something similar with a deralict off shore oil-rig in a Post-apocalyptic type of fashion. Sort of a Waterworld meets Road Warrior scenario to emerge as Water Warrior!😆
The guys loved my set-up, but, to be quite honest to game mechanics sucked and found the attacking boats to be very problematic.

@@kickassmailorder9095 Unfortunately I didn't really think about capturing the build process. But it is almost exclusively MDF construction. The interior spaces are 1/4 inch MDF and the Hull is 3/4 inch. A six month passion project!

I've always viewed Spectre as a more solitaire style game, but seeing two people play like this, maybe I misjudged.
I'm also ecstatic to see people playing with minis that aren't painted to an ungodly high quality (please don't take that as a jab, it isn't meant to be) but rather painted by someone who wants to play, and know what each figure is loaded out as, and represents. It is doing wonders for my own shyness at my painting.
William thanks for the watch! There is no need for shyness in this hobby! Build, paint, create, play, share! Give Spectre a try if modern warfare is your thing. We usually play WW2 in 15mm but had a blast with something new.
Always remember, any paint on a figure is better than no paint at all. Try things out - you won't break your minis with a bad paint job. And at the end of the day, you can always soak in Totally Awesome and start again.
@Tontis as someone that plays warhammer I much prefer a new players completely painted army even if it looks bad up close to an army with 1 and a half well painted units!

That ship is fantastic. Funny watching this playout my Son was on the LHA4 Nassau carrying out a fair share of VBSS near and around the horn of Africa. Great ship design and layout and excellent narration for AAR. Thank you for an entertaining vid gentlemen. Are either of you Marsoc or have you been? In over 50 years of gaming have never seen this layout or play of this nature before today. Very very cool setup. The details are stunning and exemplify a very serious builder and gamer who loves his hobby and it certainly shows. Bravo Zulu !

Do It! I used mostly 3/4 and 1/4 inch MDF. What is yous built out of?
@@LongShotWargaming @Long Shot Wargaming Mostly MDF as well. I used some 1 x 1's as "ribs" I only have the basic hull done. Haven't started on the superstructure yet...

Question, how easy would it be to adapt to rules to WW2 scenarios? I was a fan and player of a old computer game Commandos Behind the lines. Where you played a squad of British Commandos. Doing daring small unit raids on axis targets. Like taking out a communications tower in Norway. Or attacking a radar site to collect intelligence.
Thanks for the view Jonathan. These rules could be adapted very easily to that period. Really all that you would need to do is develop weapons data for second world war weapons. But other than that Spectre operations would be fantastic for the scenarios you're describing. There are alertness, detection and hidden troops rules. In fact you've got my mind racing on all the possibilities. I think a french resistance game involving sabotage would be awesome!
It you are looking at a French Resistance style game. Check out S.O.E., O.S.S. or Jedburghs. Any one of these agencies or projects would be great for a WW2 behind the lines operation. Jedburghs were allied personnel. Specially trained to work behind the lines in WW2. Each Jedburgh team was three people. A Demolition/Engineer, A Weapons expert ( who was familiar with both allied and axis Weapons), and a Communications expert. Then those three people would be cross trained in one other field. So even if the team lost one person. The team could still function. The Jedburgh teams were made to specifically to help resistance groups in occupied territory. Each member would be able to speak 3 languages. For example English, French, and German. For a team headed to France. Jedburgh teams worked in all theaters of WW2. With the exception of the island hopping campaign. Gen. Douglas MacArthur forbid the Jedburgh teams working in his area of operations. However Jedburgh teams did work in the China, India, Burma theater, and did work in British area of operations in the pacific.

Unfortunately i didn't keep good record of the build process. But the hull was made of 1/2, and 3/4in MDF, and the superstructure is made of 1/4in MDF.
Seems like it wouldn't be much fun to be the terrorists
Admittedly it wasn't, we made the force attributes to far out of balance.
