@iorilamia Jesus, supposition is certainly a thing. Computers have literally been taking jobs since 1822 when the first actual "computer" was invented. But they've mostly* been used as a tool to help people do jobs and it's been over a long period of time.
Many of the proposed tasks AI is talked about taking over would be quick and widespread.
And I never said we should go back to before the internet, you absolute goose.

that digital greenscreen, backdrop, w/e it's called is such a nice production feature. Doing it via software with an actual greenscreen always gives off a cheesy vibe unless done really well which is hard over a long podcast.

We are the smartest species and we are the only species that demonstrates advanced levels of compassion for one another. A human can and typically does care about a stranger or animals much more than any animal is capable of caring for another being. So to me that points to benevolence being a trait of advanced intelligence. So would a super AI that became sentient, be a more advanced being, and thus, ultra compassionate? Also the fact that compassion and intelligence are linked brings up a whole different conversation about whether we have a creator or not. Humanity seems to strive towards positivity. If evil and good were relative of eachother to a human, we wouldn't care one way or another what happens to us. The fact we lean one way, to me, points to some sort of intention that went into creating us, simulating us, or however we were created, if we were created. The universe seems to want goodness.
I imagine other advanced lifeforms in the universe end up the same way as humans, striving for peace and prosperity... happiness. I assume so since we're governed by the same physical laws. We'd have the same needs and wants that this universe can provide. Now that brings up a conversation about whether we live in a predetermined reality or not - If life is one inevitable chain reaction governed by strict laws, laws that determined every future event from the moment the big bang happened. If one molecule reacts in a predictable way to the one next to it, maybe we don't have free will at all. Maybe we are just a part of a massive, predictable chemical reaction. Maybe the big bang is some sort of way to create random physical dynamics like an AI trying to learn by simply creating as many random scenarios as possible to see what works, or what might spawn from each big bang. Maybe I drank too much.

42:45 I don't know if we will have that? All AI now still work with the binary function in which they function by answering a series of yes or no questions. So i don't think sentience is feasible at least with the current technology.
