      You’re welcome Carly! Always happy to introduce a favorite plant to fellow gardeners! 😀 Especially when it’s easy-care!

    I so appreciate how your videos don't just zoom in on details (leaf, bloom, etc.), but also back up and show its habit, size, and context in your garden. It's so helpful! I planted Legend of the Fall last year as a foundation plant (I'm in the south so it's only bare for a couple of months), right behind a small hedge of Little Lime panicle hydrangeas. The fall color, even on a young plant (it was I think a 3gal), was just lovely. I'm ordering the dwarf version this year!

      Thanks for your helpful feedback Jill! I like to show how plants look the same way I want to see them when I watch other videos - so I know exactly what you mean. 👍 And oh how I love the idea of Legend of the Fall behind those Little Limes! That's such a great idea...as I look out my window and wish there was more room behind my newer-planted Little Limes! ❤️

      I'm so glad you did! You will love this shrub, especially when you see those pretty bottlebrush flowers for the first time in Spring. Enjoy!

    I had the Dwarf Fothergilla and I lost it 2 years ago during our bad winter storm. I miss it so much. I replaced it with a Dwarf Mugo Pine & on the other side I planted a Blue Star Juniper because I loved the ones you have. I love your garden so much. Can not wait to see it in bloom this year again.

      Oh Linda, I can totally imagine you missing the fothergilla, but I like your replacement choices, especially the nice green of the Mugo and the blue-green-grey in Winter of the Blue Star. And each is easy-care too, which is always a plus! ❤️

    hi Laura! Couldn't agree more! I have Mt. Airy too and absolutely adore mine and sing it's praises.. in all seasons! Even in winter I love it's gentle twiggy appearance. I didn't know about the rabbit attraction, mine has been left alone but I will definitely take note!

      Isn't it the best? 😍 I don't think enough gardeners embrace the bare twigs and stems in Winter, so I'm glad you also appreciate the Winter twigs! I didn't know about the rabbits either, but at least I outsmarted them...this time! 😂

      Ooooooh the Blue Shadow variety is pretty! 💙 I’m so glad I bought the dwarf ones, and will enjoy seeing them fill in over time. You’ll love Mt. Airy!

      My pleasure Linda! That's what I love in particular about the dwarf size that I have (Legend of the Small) because it can fit just about anywhere! I'm a plant enabler, so I encourage you to consider it. 🤗 Keep me posted!

    Fothergilla is my favorite shrub. I have had it for years, but I do not have the two newer varieties.

      I'm always happy to hear from a gardener who shares my love of Fothergilla! ❤️ When we first moved here back in 2007, it was on my plant list well before we even decided what we wanted to do with our landscaping - just because every photo I had ever seen was so beautiful! I ended up not planting the Mt. Airy until 2014, but it was well worth the patience! 😃

      It's one of my favorites! It's not very common, but I think that might be changing as more gardeners are looking to plant native shrubs and perennials. 🤞

    Nice! Never seen one in a local nursery. Do you have any viburnum? I planted a Chinese snowball bush last spring and its green leaves are still hanging on. They don’t even look ratty.

      Thanks Will! I have yet to see one in a nursery either, and hope that will change. I order online from GreatGardenPlants.com and am impressed with the quality of their plants. I haven’t planted any viburnum but there are so many pretty varieties to choose from. Great to know that the leaves still look decent in January! ❄️💦💨

    what is the tree or bush you have in the middle of the fothergilla, with the multi stems?

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Lori, that is a Muskogee Crepe Myrtle Tree. You can see what it looks like in bloom, in this video here: th-cam.com/video/vpst0UL3d8Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=b48yWjGoTCc82AZq Enjoy! 😊

    Can you recommend any plants that are safe around ducks and horses?

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not having either ducks or horses, I can’t. Your best bet is to find one of the many homesteading TH-cam channels that have these animals and ask them for advice. 👍

      Hi! If you rewatch the section on "Highlights and Growing Information" (the links to each video section are in the description area above these comments) you'll learn what they prefer in terms of sun, moisture, water, soil, and where they grow naturally. I hope it helps!

    Many nurseries are out of stock or outrageously priced for legend of the fall. I have four legend of the small, and they are really small. Don't hold out much hope for them

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm guessing that the stock will hopefully improve (and the price will come down) as more of these are available at retail. My own Legend of the Small are also small (no pun intended) and I just moved them to see if that helps. I had them in mostly full sun, and now moved them into more shade. I noticed mine also needed more water than I originally thought they would. I'm hoping I'll see better results next year. (Most of these shrubs take about 3 years to begin looking like the photos that are shown on the plant tags, and being patient is not easy for us gardeners, am I right?)
