Rat-children, chuas or mice are children or adults suffering from microcephaly, exploited as beggars situated in Gujrat City, particularly the Shrine of Saint Shah Dolah,[1] and elsewhere in Pakistan. They have sloping foreheads, narrow faces which resemble rodents and are often intellectually disabled and dependent on others.[2]
It is alleged that begging rings and gangs place iron bands around the heads of healthy children to induce cranial deformation.[2] The Shrine of Shah Dolah, home to many of the rat children, is a common pilgrimage site for women and married couples who wish to bear children. It is thought that ignoring a rat child's plea for money will bring bad luck.

HISTORY OF SHAH DAULA
The shrine of Hazrat shah daula in the land of gujrat is more famous fromaurangzaib aalamgir conferred by the present government .The name of Hazratshah daula is considered in the saint of punjab.The life time of hazrat is rangingfrom emperor jalaluddin akbar to government of akbar.Hazar shah daula born atthe time of akbar in 1581.and died in 1675.first book on his life was written bymian muhammad charaag son of shah muraad qadri and second was writtenafter the death of hazrat shah daula by munshi mushtaaq raam in 1720.The nameof hazrat shah daula is famous in punjab same like HAZRAT data ganjbaksh,khawaja moen chishti ajmairi ,baba fareed ganj shakar and hazratmujaddad alf sani .He spend his eary age as a follwer of hazrat sarmast .Hevisited gujrat according to order of hazrat saramast.PEOPLE call him daryai at thetime of his follower alive.Hazrat shah daula was so much busy in preachingislam,along this also helped the needy and poor He was a great constructor atthat time.Hindus also included in your followers .He comes from sialkot andsettled in gujrat at the time of emperor akbar .He built many places .But most of them had destroyed .The name of famous places that can seek in punjab areSHRINE Imaam ali haq sialkot,near kala shah kaku chak 44 bridge ,this is famous inthe name of shah daula till today.fort sialkot,bridge naala aak billshahdaula,kunwaan syed sarmast,bridge inside kabl e gate,bridge garrhi shahdaula,mosque mulla gujrati,mosque shahi qilladar sarai city gujrati,bridge naaladaak,sarai ameer khan,talaab maulvi abdullah mandi meer ganj gujrat,shrine peersabz ghazi,do mehmaan sarai pul shah daula and many bridges and gardens. Hespeak punjabi to talk to his followers.but its GOOD gifted that hazrat canunderstand the request of his followers in their own language and reply themsame.Even he talk to anmilas and birds .He wear simply dress.and cap on hishead.feel not good in confertable carpet.and always lay down on the floor.Hisface was beautiful .clean coloured and eyes.Hazrat shah daula married withHazrat bibi hanifa and she gave birth to one son .After the death of hazrat shahdaula his son continued the social and cultural traditions of his father. This is right information.
I have also studied this that in history around 2 to 300 years ago there were not much education about kids of such mental disability and people used to avoid or hate them. People used to consider these children as kind of alliens and they were thrown out of the cities at river side or outside the city walls. HAZRAT SHAH Dola r.a was the first noble person who decided to take care of these special children and took their custody.He used to arrange shelter and good food for these special children just like of His own children.
Upon his good act, rather being encouraged the illiterate people of that time used to taunt Him or make fun of him in such hateful words" Shah Dole k Chohe" since the different apparent look of these special children.
Later when the time passed and after the death of Hazrat Shah Dola, a mafia came who used these children for begging and earning money and British and other govt. of that took strict action against that mafia.
Still this mafia exist in our society. Despite of discouraging them we still are used such hateful words "Shah Dole k Chohe" in our society which is v shameful.
