This guy is underrated... forreal. He's like da SRV of today...n vocally he's better den da older blues players to. He got da old school feel. I like it
This guy was born to play the Strat. First saw him playing the solo for As My Guitar Gently Weeps with Jeff Healey on here, some years ago. Was immediately knocked out by his mastery.
@@philfrank9226 yah thats kinda of true...but he's just doing what he loves. Its like a service job really--the whole Strat warrior thing has been done to death, but for some people its still cool.
@@dmgjgamm4743 can you do it? And no there isn’t a bunch of players that have this level of speed. I can do srv stuff all day but not with this type of speed for that long. The guys that are out there that base there sound off of 83-85 Stevie don’t do it this well
This guy is insane for real. Blues Guitar playing is perfect for real. Thought KWS was the best at stevies style, but this guys playing is crazy. The anger without the rage is there. Playing extremely fast but with feel is there aswell. He is also doing so many things at once, the harmonics, octaves, striking the strings before the fret, experimenting with bends, he even managed to pull out some dirty pool too. i can go on and on.. arghhh.. ;... Why isnt he mainstream :(
@@Nitsua_Atayha Incredible huh ......he's widely regarded....he played with Healy and for years was Mellisa Etheridge's guitar player ......what is "mainstream" these days ? ......As far as I'm concerned he is .......we are commenting on him ....no ? .......I honestly cant remember the last time I turned on the radio to listen to music .....and when I do it's the same 5 songs anyway. ....Mainstream has changed these days .......and the ones that appreciate good music ....like us ....know when we hear it. Some of the best players I've ever seen were at a local bar. Go out and see them ....support them 👍
Mainstream today are some badly programmed drums with a kid that spits out words with a spelling that his english teacher wont recognize as a part of any language at all. There's no room for guitar in todays music at all. Sad, but true.
Natasha....thank you again. You continue to showcase the blues and these great players with your videos 👏...Philip is one of my favorites. As you were there......how come I'm not seeing any late night jam with Joe...Eric ...Philip...Bernie...or any others for that matter ......I was hoping to see atleast Philip...Joe...and Eric jam together.....little disappointing. 🤷♂️
On this cruise they don't have the late night jams. Joe did have Eric, Bernie, Robert Randolph and Larkin Poe sit in with him during his sets. But not Philip. I would have loved to have seen them jam together as well. Eric had Larkin Poe and Joe join him each on a song on his sets and Toronzo Cannon had Philip sit in on a song on his, but unfortunately I wasn't at that one.
I watched Eric and Larkin Poe .....it was great 👍......That's a shame ....I figured this was the first time Philip....Eric ...Joe and KWS as well right ? were together ......kind of hard to get away from each other on a boat haha.....anyway I would have loved to have seen that. Thanks again.
Probably the lesser known greats discovered here. Hopefully we will hear lots of Sayce for decades ahead. He may need to be kinder to the instrument. It's capabilities seem to be exhausted.
Such a great Strat player! That vibrato! Malmsteen and Sayce have the best vibrato of any living guitarists for sure. But . . . They both share the same problem, they both overplay all the time. You need to build up to the fast and furious stuff, especially in a slow blues. Here Sayce is going wild even before the first verse. It's a shame he can't seem to pace himself, because apart from that he is my favourite player right now.
Well, you are partially right but...actually, i love his playing, among other things, because of that wild attitude. His passion drives him, he is not "calculated" player, for sure. He can go insane before the first verse, and then calm down much, much, later... Don't know, passion is the most important thing in playing, imho. His solo "stories" are not systematic, rational... they are chaotic, like life it self, lol!
@@karlsmith3281 he lives up the street from me. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned to him that he overplays before but he’s said that’s what people pay to see. People do the same thing with Bonamassa. Also why do you think you some how would know what Albert King would hypothetically think of someone, kind of a dumb thing to bring up considering everyone knows He already had a prodigy playing in his shadow
Was that strat once sunburst?? There’s a chunk of what appears to be sunburst finish next to the arm carve. I always thought it was originally Olympic white?

Srv has come back to life damn man you are really good
Wow, this guy got his own vibe. Simply love it. His chops is so RAD
Yeah one of my favorites, certainly for ripping ass blues and chunky funky rock.

He’s got everything nailed down, that’s what it is
Great, great, great. Without your videos I wouldn't know this artist at all, Natasha, thank you very much. From Germany, Hugo
My favorite song that he does. What an amazing guitarist and performer.
one of the most look like SRV good performer around the world! great palyer but nothing new
Ryan---if you get a chance look up Otis Rush's version of this tune...its stellar
Boring pentatonic noodle.

That is a very good question that you asked there at the end why isn't he mainstream?

Kinder to a Stratocaster? If you wanna rock like SRV or Hendrix you don't go easy on those things.
Fuck ! I’m still trying to process these bends !! Philip you’re a killer player 👏🏼👏🏼
Great Guitar player!

yeah this cat can play the hell out of that guitar but I think Albert would've pulled the plug, I'd still applaud though.

albert would give him shit about the wankey noodling because its the same thing albert king & albert collins did to gary moore
You play one badass STRAT
thanks!
Nice!
Philip is the heir to the SRV (and others) throne!🔥
stevie had songs of his own that were actually good and every solo he took didnt sound like the same endless barrage of notes
Круто..просто круто . будущее за ВАМИ
organic!
Woaaaa
Sounds like it’s really loud in there, from the amp!
💜

I didn't know Danny devito plays the drummers
Ke'Von Gordon Yeah ever since Taxi got taken off the air I’ve had to find a way to survive. Don’t tell anyone.
3:11 🔥🔥
Judging by his playing, she left him 'cos he came after 50 seconds.
one of the most mistreated guitar ever
capo
Immer die selben Fingerübungen. Entäuschend ... !
Unreal#!!
Gary Moore does an awesome version of this
thanks!
