    *Special note:
    1) Older machines may not have a coupler that has a grub screw. Disregard this grub screw step if your coupler does not have a grub screw to tighten to the flat part of the motor shaft.
    2) All blue dip switches (white number switches under the motor cover) should be set to on, as described here: forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/onefinity-elite-masso-motor-specs-faq/18787

    Two noted differences while doing my install for others working on their upgrades:
    The coupler did not have a set screw, just the 2.5mm hex nut to tighten.. slight variance in model maybe?
    The other.. before putting the plastic cover back on at the end, verify all 6 dip switches are “on”. That will save you 30 minutes of trouble shooting when your z doesn’t have full functionality.
    Good luck!

      Thanks for adding this note. I was just installing my motor and this was an issue for me.

      Just made a pinned comment of this. Older couplers don't have a grub screw.

    Awesome upgrade, Stone!

    Question. Does this upgrade mean that I will now have a spare NEMA-23 motor for any of my X and Y motors, should they fail down the road? That is a good selling point to mention if that is the case.

      Yes, you will have a spare motor after you remove the original z motor and can use it as a backup.

    @onefinity just a heads up the early motors do not have removable connectors for the signal wires on the motor. The connectors are soldered to the board wires have to be taken off each pin with small screwdriver.

      yes, the first batch of machines the motors are a bit different, but still an easy install!

      Agreed just wanted to mention it so hopefully someone doesn’t try to reef the connector off the old motor with pliers.

    So my elite foreman just arrived, is this a updated z stepper motor from what I just received?

    • @OnefinityCNC

      Yes, this motor has an integrated brake, this is an optional add on

    • @OnefinityCNC

      No, it's an add on that won't be live until december 4th. you can place an order for it when it goes live separately.

    Will the new motor brake be standard on new Elite 4x4 Table purchases?

    • @OnefinityCNC

      At this time, no. It’s a separate add on item. It may be standard on 80mm z20s in the future when we have more stock but the cost of the mount will go up to offset the larger cost of the motor.

    It's been a while since this video was originally posted.
    Is the Braking Stepper included with the purchase of the Elite 4x4 if 80mm spindle mount is selected at the time of purchase?
    I ordered one a little over 4 weeks ago and need to know if I still need to purchase the braking stepper separately?
    Google search sais,
    Yes the Elite Z-20 comes with Braking Stepper Motor.
    Is Google correct?

    • @OnefinityCNC

      its only sold seperatly

    • @KZ-1155

      Ok thanks for the heads up.
      Will be ordering the updated motor.
      You guys should add the option to add the Braking Stepper at time of Machine purchase.
      Everyone thatt is getting the 80mm Mount is going to be putting a heavy motor on the machine.
      Having a spare motor isn't a bad idea.
      But the Z-Slider dropping seems like a safety concern.

      @@KZ-1155 We're the only hobby cnc company that has a brake available. :)

      @@OnefinityCNC It's all good.
      I just meant I wish when ordering there was a check box option to add the additional brake motor.
      Kinda like the Stiffy add on option.
      Even after many months of research of a million videos and articals read, I never ran across the power off Z-drop thing.
      Maybe its a known thing by most people, but when your a first timer diving into the world of cnc routers, your head feels like it is going to explode from information overload. lol
      It wasn't until about 4 weeks after placing my order that I stumbled onto this information.
      Luckily I caught it just in time to add the brake stepper to my order which will arrive with the original order on the 21st.
      Having a spare non braking stepper is a good idea. Just in case.
      Thanks for all you guys do for the hobby industry!

    Does the z20 stepper motor come standard when you order the elite foreman or do you have to order it separately

    • @OnefinityCNC

      The BRAKE motor is an separate, optional add on.
