That's why we so rarely see Black women featured as soloists and queens of Samba even though they created it. What happened to Nyara was criminal. she was stripped of her Globaleza for being Black even though she was the best. It happens in all forms of arts and entertainment so I am glad Egili is able to travel and be successful outside of there. If you look at 90% of samba teaching videos, shows and carnivals, the chosen women are light skinned but the male dancers and musicians reflect the population more accurately with different skin tones. The women are subject to worse racism. I am happy for Egili.

Yes, I have seen it for myself and the Blacks talk about it openly. White and Mulata women are preferred regardless of their skills. That's why so many of us are happily surprised to see this Black beauty representing her culture and doing the dance properly.
