I've always made my dirt cake and put it into a bucket type container, and layered the cookies and cream cheese/pudding mixture, with the cookies on top. I even put one into a flower pot once, and put a fake flower in it for my FIL's birthday. I wrapped the flower stem in foil so the stem wouldn't contaminate the cake, and the flower pot was ceramic glazed. It was a hit. I've also made it at Halloween, and broken little cookies in half to use as gravestones. It was a big hit at my previous job. I haven't made it in years. I think I will make it again soon. Thank you for sharing this recipe. 😊
I have only ever had this made with chocolate pudding. Seeing it made with vanilla is blowing my mind. (Though one time I did make it with vanilla. But we also used vanilla cookies because we were trying to make a beach themed dessert. That's a sand cake, not a dirt cake.)
