I'M SOOO GLAD THAT YOU ARE MAKING THIS CONTENT!! I have spent the past 2 years researching, and designing and saving-- but haven't found the right printers, etc... I love that you provide SOLID content and immediate value without all of the unnecessary TH-camy gimmicky content! I'm so excited to start investing in equipment and getting my home studio going!
I appreciate how you two distill the information to what is relevant and useful! That sends a very clear message that you value the time of your viewers more than you try to win a popularity contest. Thank you!
I print my greeting cards on a Canon Pro and I’m really happy with it. While I love Epsons for the color, I find the Canon to have a really robust loading mechanism, and it seems less prone to clogging. But the best part is that I use a refillable cartridge system from a company called Precision Colors, which saves loads on ink. I get card stock already cut and folded, which is probably more costly than doing it myself, but the glossy stock from Red River paper makes the art look phenomenal. My business will be smaller than yours, I’m sure, so this works for now. One thing though, that Epson has going for it, it’s archival/pigment ink. I have a Canon Pro 10 roe art prints, which heed to be archival. In retrospect, I would have just purchased the Canon 10. Thanks for your fantastic videos, they are the best!
Thanks for the long comment . I think it will help a lot of other ppl. Good hack of getting paper already creased and folded. I used refillable cartridges on our old epson that has since died. It def saved money. I will probably mess around with it again after we demote our current printer. But for now i dont want to risk potentially clogging it with non oem cartridges because it is our only printer. Be well and thank u for the support. Lmk what ur ig is so i can follow.
I wanted to tell y'all that in complete honesty I haven't found anyone else like y'all being so helpful. When I had my business of 11 yrs until the pandemic I was the exact same way with it in my other business as y'all are for art. And I cannot explain how u have made me feel like I can do this. I just wanted to say thank u ❤️
Thank you for the flowers and kind words Selena. We need to read this again to process and internalize. This motivates us to continue to connect, share and help. Bless you and have a good week!
I love this video and your dry sense of humor which always has me chuckling. I want to say that since I couldn't afford Photoshop, I took your advice from another video you made and substituted Affinity Photo. I LOVE love love it! I could afford PS and there are so many tutorials for Affinity Photo on TH-cam for just about everything I want to do with it. So, if anyone else out there cannot afford ONE more monthly subscription, I can say that Affinity Photo has been a great alternative for me. Maybe later, I can afford Photoshop but just like in my Voice Over Business where Adobe Audition is a favorite, I chose to use Twisted Wave on my mac for a one time price of $79, and have not been sorry I did. So far, I haven't run into anything Affinity photo cant do with my cards and paintings.
Thank you Joni! I’m so glad AP worked out well for you. Adobe just raised their price on Photoshop subscription too so I expect more people will be switching. It’s a force of habit for many creators who have used Photoshop for years so there is resistance but the cost is becoming increasingly prohibitive. Thanks for watching!
Wow this is such a helpful video. I had one of those Epson all-in - one printers. I used to print a lot of our photos at home when I used to do scrapbooking. I am drooling over that electric creaser. I used to work in a print shop and we used a manual one lol... Anyway maybe I will invest in an electric creaser when I start getting more sales. Thank you for this video.
Hi there! I just found y'all two days ago and I've already watched so many! I can't tell you how helpful and clear (and funny) your videos are- so first off- THANK YOU. You're providing information and specifics that's really hard to find elsewhere for people starting out or just looking to digitize their art they're already been selling. Second-do you have any suggestions for a scanner that's a little lower in price? The biggest I can imagine needing is 9x12 (but more like 8X10), and I see several in the $70ish range, and then this great one you've suggested at $230. I definitely want to get something that will capture my art, but I just invested in a printer and would love to keep this cost down if that's possible. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Epson v39. I did a scan of the comments and people have used it to scan art with success. Here is the Amazon Link: amzn.to/2OzSnTR . If you look on Craig's List or Offer Up, you can get it used for below your price range. Try to buy it from a seller with good ratings and I think you should be good. Good luck!
One thing you didn't cover was the computer. My current one is old and creaky and was not bought for doing any graphic work. Seems most artists like the iMac - I am thinking of the midrange 27in one and boosting the 8gb to 16 myself if needed. But it is £1999 here as I have not found a refurbished one locally! Is this computer what you would recommend?
Cathy uses a 2015 mac book pro and i use a 2012 macbook bro. Def not the mewest machines but more than what we need for photoshop which is our most intensive app. The computer you get should have 16gb ram at a minimum but 32 gigs of ram memory to be future proof. I recommend a 512 gb ssd hard drive at a minumum and 1 tb ssd hd to be future proof. I would not get the current imac because they will be replaced later this year with newer much faster imacs. They have not been redesigned for 10 yrs or so. If i had to get a computer now i would look into the new mac mini with the new apple m1 cpu processors. If u want a laptop then then mac book pro 13 inch with the m1 cpu processor. There are currently sales on them and they are really good value for performance. Hope this helps.
@@EasySundayClub I've been a lifelong (67 yo) pc user and now find myself needing to purchase a new computer. I'm a little nervous at the thought of getting an Apple computer and making that transition of learning new methods and terminology. Do you feel in my circumstances it would be that much more beneficial to make the switch? Thank you!
Just received a product that I ordered from your site. What paper type did you use for your thank you card insert? I think I prefer this type/thickness than the 100lb linen you mentioned.
I have a question! I wanted to add postcards to my list of items and I'm having a difficult time finding a good option for the paper. I want one that is glossy on one side, paper-like on the back, and big enough so I can print 4 4x6 postcards on one sheet, so 8x12 at least, and is thick enough to not curl.
this one might be a good fit: www.thepapermillstore.com/futura-white-card-stock-18-x-12-in-120-lb-cover-gloss-c-2s-200-per-package.html. you can order a sample to be sure since this site sells in bulk.
I bought some items including printer(when I finally found it) from your $500 video. I got the Canon TS9520 and it's been great, given me much better prints for my cards than I was able to. It's exciting to watch this video and see where I can aim to get to when I'm ready to upgrade though :)
I believe the maker can cut board like for puzzles but I'm not exactly sure how you'd do it. You can't print+cut within the cricut program for a very large(it's actually not even the size of a piece of paper) to do that. You might be able to print and then set it up to cut separately but it would take some learning. I have had a heck of a time so far on my simple items haha
I just discovered your videos today- excited to watch more because the ones I've seen already have been so helpful! I'm curious if you have any thoughts about this printer or if it's worth it to go with the image PROGRAF Pro-300? I've been doing some research and the folks at B & H recommended as a good mid-range option: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1602503-REG/canon_4280c002_pixma_pro_200.html
yup i recommend the pixma pro 200 if you are going mid-tier. will be fine for greeting cards. amazon link here: amzn.to/2LMdaCw . i would only go for the 300 if you need to use archival (long lasting) inks and need gallery grade art prints. the 200 was just released less than a year ago so should be future proof and there has been positive feedback on using it on thick cardstock.
I absolutely Love this channel. You guys are amazingly generous sharing your experience, researching time and know how. Thank you so much!

Any suggestions on sources for elegant boxes to package multiple cards?
I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention the rollo label printer! Loved the video

Hi! Your videos are amazing. Do you recommend using cardstock to print art prints over photo paper? My art is digital, if that makes a difference!
