Sweet Old Lady Slipped On Slimy Steps (Oddly Satisfying Pressure Washing)

  • This was free work, so I only get paid if you watch & like the video! Free cleanup to keep an older neighbor safe. Only water was used in the cleaning as bleach can mix poorly with many types of wood (this was probably southern pressure treated pine). We also covered before hand that my work would ruin the staining someone had done long ago and leave a splotchy finish, but as they had plans to paint it later on, it was not a concern.
The steps got this bad as they get lots of moisture and very little sun, leading to dank, slippery surfaces that could easily cause someone to slip.
The homeowner's daughter contacted me via Facebook and I was happy to help out in exchange for making a video. Helpful deed for them that saves money (their pressure washer was broken) and gives me the chance to make some money if I tell a good story. If you were entertained, please make sure to leave a like and comment as this helps me out tremendously and is part of how I support my family.
Q: You left streaks in the wood.
A: I know, I just talked about that. My main goal was safety, not looks, and they were OK with that. Add the fact they are painting the wood after everything dries and it doesn't even matter.
    Q: Did you use chemicals?
    A: Only water.
Q: What pressure washer did you use?
A: ECHO PW4200 with white 40 degree nozzle. The yellow tip would have damaged the wood too much.
Q: You didn't do a great job on the flagstone
A: You are right, I purposely avoided the edges of the stones. Again, my main goal was safety, so if 90% of the surface was cleaned, that is all that matters. Cleaning everything would have meant blasting all the dirt in between them away and creating a muddy mess the homeowner would have needed to fix. Also, since I was displacing all the dirt that helped make it a flat, level, surface, I would also have been creating uneven surfaces that would not have been safe.
Q: You are dumb and bald.
A: The dumb I can't help, but the bald if from dealing with all your comments.
Q: Horrible example of pressure washing wood. You should never start or stop on the board, as it causes discoloration.
A: I ALREADY SAID THEY WERE PAINTING OVER IT, IT DOESN'T MATTER! Who are you, the pressure washing police?
Q: You should have pressure washed all the concrete blocking.
A: The goal of this visit was safety, not doing all the pressure washing for the whole house. I wanted to make the steps more visible, especially for using them in low light scenarios. All I cared about cleaning is where someone would likely step.

You did a great job. Can anything be used on those wooden stairs to keep them from having so much mildew?

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@mgbsecteacher I am sure there are some sprays, but all I really use in pressure washing is bleach, and bleach can react bad to some woods (as far as how they take/absorb it) so I didn't use anything.

People don't seem to realize a lot of slips/falls happen around the house and the older you get, the less bouncier you are. Glad the homeowner got this simple yet important pressure washing done! Awesome you posted an offer to help folks out and as a byproduct, people get to see the reasons why it's essential to keep areas cleared and un-slippy (for lack of a better word).

So I've only used this pressure washer one time. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP The one time I used it, it worked great. I recently had new siding installed but kept the old gutters and small areas surrounding my house that weren't replaced so they looked horrible and dirty because of the new siding. I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. Also, I purchased a used one to save money and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I want to get more use out of it so I think I'll be washing the cars and update this comment as time goes on.

That's a great gesture for this family. Stairway safety is paramount with the elderly and the disabled. I know you mentioned that they plan to paint the stairs. Once they do that, may I suggest putting skateboard grip tape on the steps? If you're unfamiliar, it's material that you stick to the step and has a very grippy, almost sandpaper like surface. I'm disabled and have this on my steps. It really helps keep the user stable as the use the stairs. Keep up the great content and thank you for the pro bono work you do. 👍👍

Good job although I have a couple of tips for you! When cleaning wood try to go from one side to the other in one motion (as you did on some of it!), will stop all those lines in the wood. Also I’d advise getting a turbo nozzle for the stone, save you time and will do a better job! Also I would’ve finished off that small section of wall to really make it look great, not just the centre section. See you put bleach or sodium hypochlorite on the back of the truck, would defo spray some of that down after just to help kill off the algae and brighten it up even more, just make sure you rinse it off after 15 mins. Hope you don’t take this the wrong way, just wanted to advise from one professional to another 😉👍🏻

For people who love to watch ASMR videos, this would definitely qualify as a good one! What I cannot understand though, was that out of 320,514 views, only 8.4K hit the "Like" button? That's only 2.62% of viewers - What was there *not* to like about this video? The BEFORE and AFTER transformation was awesome - and besides doing this so you can post more video / make more money off of your TH-cam channel, it was an especially honorable way of helping seniors out. 👊
Subscribed and rang that bell! - Looking forward to seeing future content.

I will if I can get more folks in the community to take me up on it. I think some think it is a scam.

Nice job! I used to pressure wash professionally for a few years. One trick I learned that worked for me with wooden decks is a little counter intuitive. You will notice when it dries you can see every stroke made with the wand if you go with the length of the board. However, I learned that if you go perpendicular to the length of the board, then you will not have those stroke marks in the wood when it dries. It will look clean without the lines from where you stopped and started each pass with the wand. Anyways, good luck and great job.
