    When my off switch on my 2013 Edge died last week, I called the dealership. Not counting the price of the part, they wanted $310 just for the labor! I wanted to see how complicated the job would be and found this video. Other than my Edge having T10 screws and not T8, the video was perfect for me. I am not a mechanical person, but I was still able to do the job in just 20 minutes after watching this once! Standard WP489 from RockAuto $56 and 20 minutes versus $310 in just labor? Thank you for this video!!!

    Thanks for this video! I changed my wife's wiper switch just 5 minutes ago after watching this video. We have a 2013 model but did not find that I had to remove the first 2 screws on the first plastic part, the three under the column were all accessible and I was able open up for surgery by just removing these 3.

    Thank you for taking the time to do this Video, Will order the part and I'll get to work.. Every time it rained I had to turn the wipers on, then it would stop raining and ruin the wiper blades because of the friction. Even if i turned of the car for days when I turned the car back on it would start up again.

    Thanks for your video. I watched it intensely. On my 2011 Ford Edge SLE =- removing the 2 - 10mm screws that hold on the lower dashboard panel on were NOT necessary to remove. Just the 3 screws holding on the lower panel on the steering column and then 2 - #10 Torx screws holding on the switch. Easy work for a DIY. Just an FYI.

    We have a 2012 Ford edge SEL and I’m about to drive it into a wall! From the door ajar bullshit that Ford refuses to put a recall on! To now the windshield wipers that won’t shut off! We’ve already replaced the turbo about six years ago! And we have had to replace two of the blend door actuator‘s. Absolutely sick of this giant piece of crap! We have had this car since 2015 and this may be the last year we own it.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 makes me really sad too, because we absolutely loved it when we first got it but it is turning into a giant money pit! My husband‘s truck is 21 years old and doesn’t have anywhere near the problems this newer piece of crap has!!! All this technology is nothing but a huge headache and is really starting to hurt the wallet! Thank you for putting up videos like this so it doesn’t hurt near as bad. But it seems like it’s something new every month.😞

      @@FreeAutoMechanic the old one is still not turning off. But is completely functional as far as wiper speed front and back and fluid wash. The new one worked for the first try but then nothing. Thought wire issue or something but all looked good then plugging old one back in and getting operation from it I’m guessing something fried the new one right off.

    I have a 2013 ford edge and my wipers won't go off. I just watch your video . My problem is trying to find out if I have rain sense wipers or the other one. How can I find out? Thank You So Much !!!

    • @FreeAutoMechanic
      @FreeAutoMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most rain-sensing wipers use a sensor that’s mounted behind the windshield. It sends out a beam of infrared light that, when water droplets are on the windshield, is reflected back at different angles.
      This tells the system to activate the wipers, as well as adjust wiper speed and frequency based on the intensity of the precipitation combined with the vehicle’s speed.
      That being said, If the wipers come on automatic I am certain you have rain sensing. If you have to turn them on, no rain sensing. Hope this helps.
