I was at the dentist this morning getting shots for a filling and feelin kinda scared, then this song popped into my head and started playing in my mind and I became just so relaxed and happy and positive and the best. This was the easiest experience I've ever had at the dentist. This song helped me more than the Novocain and Valium for my anxiety and pain. Thank you mc Chris you are my hero.
@K2 FU It fully depends on if the starwars Kinect game has the same lyrics as MC Chris's parody. If not, there is no case. It definitely doesnt sound that way from what I heard... While at the same time Jason Derulo cannot sue, under the fact that the song is a parody and is directly meant to be a joke. Adding your own merits to a song will make it technically different, and very hard to push a case against. Look at weird Al, He will get permission from some artists in good faith but will generally parody what ever song he wants. Long story short... Suing is petty and a waste of time and resources.
The Kessel Run was one of the most heavily-used routes in the Galactic Empire Han Solo claimed that his Millennium Falcon "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". A parsec was a unit of distance, not time. Solo was not referring directly to his ship's speed when he made this claim. Instead, he was referring to the shorter route he was able to travel by skirting the nearby Maw black hole cluster, thus making the run in under the standard distance.
Actually, the original script notes stated "(obviously lying)" after the line. It was supposed to be a BS made up line that was purposely incorrect. Of course, thanks to the Solo movie, your statement is now the cannon explanation.
@@genequist3859 This dude made this comment TEN YEARS AGO...so I guess someone came up with it before the movie, and they put it in the film? I didn't realize that they legit stole it from another source and made it cannon. I know Disney has stolen a lot of cool shit from the Expanded Universe, and put it in the new films, but I never realized that the entire scene with the hyperspace monsters and Maw and all that shit was straight up ripped off from another source. Super ironic to me that Disney got rid of ALL THE EXPANDED UNIVERSE when they clearly have no problem ripping it off. Damn, dude wrote this TEN YEARS AGO, way before the Solo film came out, absolutely crazy to me...
OMG! I've been singing a similar chorus to this for years without knowing that this song even existed! I feel kinda like a hipster about it but it's overshaded by how stoked I am that someone made this come to life.
Me and my friends hear this and were like "Hey we should make a Han Solo version of this song" (Being the Star Wars Nerds we are) And look what we have? This sir, deserves a gold plaque, a million internetz, and a gift certificate to Chick-Fil-A!
I got bored just now and actually went and listened to the original version. I would not wish that shit on my most bitter enemy. He rhymed tonight, with right, with alright (and oh with, well, oh about 50 times). Genius! mc chris version is so much better. Same for his parodies of Katy Perry and whoever sings that goddamn song about calling me maybe.
@Callirgos1 "the kessel run" runs close to a black hole cluster, the faster your ship can go the closer you can get to the black holes, thus the less distance you travel since the run is curved around the black holes.
I hate using interweb jargon unnecessarily, but FTW. Very creative and wonderfully cut with the music. Any haters...yeah, anyone could have put it together, but did you? I liked it a lot and I appreciate the effort. Keep up the entertainment, people who know the difference between stealing and re-purposing!
@andrewrockzyou Yea I was brought to understand that the Kessel run didn't really have a "standard route", so much as a general route. And the better the pilot, the closer to the black hole cluster he could fly, thereby making a straighter line and shorter run.
@EmoMcnerdface the only confusing part i can see in my post is maybe the parsecs part? basically its through a cluster of asteroids. but he cuts through a denser area which is a shorter distance (12 parsecs) as opposed to the safer longer route most smugglers take (18 or so parsecs)
The Kessel Run was an 18-parsec route used by smugglers to move glitterstim spice from Kessel to an area south of the Si'Klaata Cluster without getting caught by the Imperial ships that were guarding the movement of spice from Kessel's mines.
MC Chris made this as a parody of Jason Derulo's "Ridin' Solo" and Kinect stole it. Kept the chorus in, changed the lyrics a bit then claimed it was theirs
@Red7StandingBy & @ianofhimself the actual quote is " It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.” .. this sounds like they are talking about time.. whether or not a parsec is a length of distance, in the actual use, they are referring to time.
Wow. Nice video. The song was bad ass enough on its own. I made the kessel run in 13 parsecs. My fed navy comet didn't have a tech 2 micro warp drive on it. Damn you solo!
i was totally singing han solo in my car weeks ago.... damn i should have jumped on this first! but i could never do it the justice that mc chris did...
A parsec is a unit of distance, and that's what Han meant. He closed the distance of the Kessel run to 11.5 parsecs by maneuvering dangerously close to black holes and using their gravity and their natural distortion of the fabric of space/time
@andrewrockzyou "the speed that I ride is light can't deny" Is actually "is light, I can't be denied". And there are various ones like that throughout it. Not to mention the grammatical errors.
@w3rdwitha3 well originally it was a joke, the point of the scene in the film was that solo was exaggerating, and had no idea what a parsec was. Much later on though the comics, which are canon, established that he did in fact make the kessel run in 12 parsecs. However let me point out the ship, like many others in star wars, does light speed, so "is it fast?" is a pretty absurd question.
@SuperWii64 i would agree, a lot of fledgling stars try to make their name with autotune. MC Chris however was well established before autotune was invented, muchless popular
Some of ya'll know nothing about business and publicity...many business models say ANY form of publicity is good publicity....good or bad (with exceptions, of course). This is obviously a publicity stunt....kudos to MC Chris for bein smarter than harder. Totally Gangsta MC Rapper move
12 years is insane. this song is still fire!
Just realized how much I love this song, wish MC would make more songs like this, his Bounty Hunter stuff and this are my favorite.
Qu'est-ce qu'il est beau...
Et en plus j'adore cette chanson !!!

Bro, this and Hoodie Ninja were the first videos I ever watched on TH-cam
Kinect star wars copied this guy music.... MC Chris should sue.
K2 FU nah Mc Chris would be safe, it’s a parody which is safe under fair use
@K2 FU It fully depends on if the starwars Kinect game has the same lyrics as MC Chris's parody. If not, there is no case. It definitely doesnt sound that way from what I heard... R.I.P to my favorite star wars character han solo. I can relate to him in so many ways

Did this song inspire the Solo song from the Xbox Kinect dance challenge, or was it backwards?
MC Chris made this as a parody of Jason Derulo's "Ridin' Solo" and Kinect stole it. Kept the chorus in, changed the lyrics a bit then claimed it was theirs

Thank you for clearing that up iv been wondering about that myself. makes sense
@CharBroiled04 I think the 2nd part is "The speed I ride is light"
@yinjara His newest album, Race Wars, doesn't have any autotune at all. Although i don't mind the autotune when it's him.
I love this man
bout time there's an mc song about han!!
The "make out with your sister" line. Hilarious.

lol This was awesome! Han Solo was always badass!
AWESOMNESS!!!
That was....BRILLIANT :D I loved it!!!
mc awesome IDOLLLLLLL!
I think the chorus is actually "I'm off to Mos Eisley, Wookie by my side, the speed of light is mine, I can't be denied".
But I could be wrong.
Wow. Nice video. The song was bad ass enough on its own. I made the kessel run in 13 parsecs. My fed navy comet didn't have a tech 2 micro warp drive on it. Damn you solo!
MC Chris: best rapper alive? Well, that's debatable, but short answer: Yes.
My new fav that was already my fav.
If you put this vid together with the music then grats man, you were featured on TBT Excellent job man!
