The way I come back to this, years later, having graduated high school and college, and am somehow violently shoved back into my Language Arts class with every lyric still memorized, is genuinely an amazing feeling, well done sir. I will now proceed to have this stuck in my head for weeks
I absolutely love this song, I first found it on the Warped Tour Album and now I know all the lyrics, my edgar allen poe action figure and I watch it all the time, Im showing this to my English class at the end of the years :)
Ohhhhh shit. Clicked on this in the suggestion sidebar because I thought I recognized your name, as soon as I saw you... a friend of mine that's no longer around used to listen to you all the time... massive wave of emotion...
My friend loves Ska and introduced me to "This Gigantic Robot Kills" the song not the album but it was through that song I discovered one of the coolest albums I've ever heard and then one of the coolest artists I ever got the pleasure to hear. Thank you for the music "True Playah For Real"
This just made my life - a song about poetry, Poe, The Raven, put to Pachelbel (close enough) with intelligent lyrics (most of them) that most won't get and fewer appreciate, and put to Pachelbel (close enough) no less. Effing brilliant!
This is the album that got me hooked on you my English teacher played the one about his cousin and from there I was hooked that was when I was a senior 7 years ago.
I loved Poe back in the day. My favorite poet. Then I found Operation Ivy and Run DMC. Thanks Lars, you bring it all together. I'd love to see some 2016 tour dates in the Bay though.
This guys really talented I play this song as my motivation song before I take a test for my english class also it would be real cool that one day you could hear nerdcore music on the radio just to have a more diverse selection in music
+MC Lars Hey I understand you got a busy schedule is there anyway you can give me advice as a musician also I'm looking for venues to preform in California if you know any good ones let me know please
But it goes back to fast to remember. To really learn it I'd need it in writing. Great stuff, though. Probably would be a boon to high school English teachers, though the skull kissing scene and some other stuff might get them in trouble. OK, college poetry class, then.
I could have used this song back 2002 when I was struggling to understand Iambic Pentameter in my Sophomore English class in high school lol. Dope rhyme, MC Lars!
AYE, I used to vibe out to this while I was heading to work. That Vans Warped Tour 2014 CD was my whole summer that year! You have a time stamp in my soul dewD!
I hear "this gigantic robot kills" and I think it might be a good ska band... I listen to "hipster girl" and then this song and I'm like, what the hell?
I have a shirt with a big rapping bird comic on it and MC LARS and on the back it says “Who’s That Rapping?” . I had no idea who it was and also could not find any other shirts with the same art on it online, which intrigued me. So I traced it down to this. Awesome!
Edgar, and his younger sister Rosalie both suffered from headaches. Their father David Poe - by some historical accounts - suffered from mental illness. Poe self-treated chronic and crushing headaches with laudnum and alcohol. He didn't die drunk, but scientists in the medical profession believe he suffered from encephalitis, or water on the brain. Rabies was mentioned, looks like encephalitis, but would not have caused him some of the symptoms that were documented. He was brilliant.
if you really feel that way, send it to your former teacher so they can include it in the curriculum. i'm sure they'd at least consider it. my old english teacher also used a couple youtube vids to illustrate points back in the day.
Actually Poe was locally famous among his community. After he published 'The Raven' kids would fallow him in the street and flap thier arms like wings. :)
I kept seeing this video on the side bar and never had a chance to peep it, man this definitely made a good song better! I love when videos enhance an already awesome song! good job!! border than "board"
"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" NOW you've got it! Unstressed, stressed... five times flow IAMBIC. Stressed, UNstressed! Watch me flip the dynamic like, "Once upon a midnight dreary...as I start, I'm like cuttin it clearly!" Trochaic.. octameter! Rythm might damage.. The cadence SO quick! (But I think your ear can manage) MYSTERIOUS! Sci-fi rhymes getting hotter... DRUNK in the club, watch me holla at ya daughter... BALTIMORE RAVENS- That's my TEAM! "Original Hipster"; Well... It might SEEM!
I saw you live on Nov 11th in Kansas City. I hadn't really heard any of your stuff before, was there for Chris, but you're fucking awesome! This shit's great :D
Haha, you performed this song live at my high school in Royersford, Pennsylvania around October, 2015. Give or take a little. The lesson you gave was pretty interesting.
HA! When'd you start using the term "lit hop"? I remember telling you that's how I described your music to people! And thanks for the B'more love in this song... -Insane Ian
Actually "The Raven" was so popular during his life time that he was often stopped in the streets and asked to recite the piece, also he was a rather well known literary critic. He may have been hypersensitive to alcohol but personal accounts from his life vary on that. As for his death the circumstances were a bit more mysterious, especially since he was found in a gutter wearing someone else's clothes.

That is awesome!! I am honored and I appreciate that!!
I remember this song being on my Warped Tour CD, one of the songs I'd never skip. That entire sentence made me feel so me feel so old.
That's what's up! Thank you!!
I seem to have accidentally memorized nearly all the words to this.
I regret nothing.
My wife showed this to her 8th grade English class and they loved it!
Thanks man!!
Been a huge fan of MC Lars for years! I feel he should've gotren way more recognition

Haha me too!
Now, thanks to Lars, I understand how rap functions
So awesome! The hip hop raven puppet is awesome and cracked me up!
A raven, gently rapping at my door
Yea, I see what you did.
Dude!! That was awesome. My mom designed that Raven puppet for the Folkmanis company back in the day so this was a double pleasure.
Maybe he wasn't famous, but he was probably really popular among friends.
Ohhhhh shit. Clicked on this in the suggestion sidebar because I thought I recognized your name, as soon as I saw you... a friend of mine that's no longer around used to listen to you all the time... massive wave of emotion...

Lars is so rad. 100 percent original every time. The definition of "doing you."
So much respect. Loving the video.
This just made my life - a song about poetry, Poe, The Raven, put to Pachelbel (close enough) with intelligent lyrics (most of them) that most won't get and fewer appreciate, and put to Pachelbel (close enough) no less. Effing brilliant!
He went hard on that tetrameter!!!
This is the album that got me hooked on you my English teacher played the one about his cousin and from there I was hooked that was when I was a senior 7 years ago.
I am honored! Thank you, your teacher sounds pretty awesome.
I didn't know this song had a music video. I'm so glad I found this.

I learned a lot of these terms in my reading poetry class. This song makes me so happy.
True art and knowledge
I had my AP Lit teacher from last year show this to her seniors this year. :-)
This needs way, WAY more views.
Dude. 8,000 subscribers definitely isn't enough for music like this. Awesome is an understatement! ^^
I love this so much. Too much.
This track is giving me multiple nerdgasms.
Always nice to know someone else uses the term nerdgasm
this is so so so good! Thank you:)
Who says it's not fun to learn?! Thanks Lars!
Where was this song when I was taking AP Lit???
if you really feel that way, send it to your former teacher so they can include it in the curriculum. i'm sure they'd at least consider it. my old english teacher also used a couple youtube vids to illustrate points back in the day.
This video is unworthy of the brilliance that is this song. It's a shame, too.

pingu bingu same
I need your teacher to explain this to me.
Same

Same and I go to a Catholic school...
Never gave much thought to why some sentence sound 'right'. Now you have schooled me.

I sincerely appreciate an amazing individual such as yourself which makes me look like a slack-jawed lumberjack in comparison to diction.
Wonderful violin

Mc Lars is so awesome he cares about his fans and talks to them!
Love it!!
Cool and very creative mixture:-)
Haha, I love this :D Nice job ^^

this shit legit helped me learn stresses lol
I appreciate that!! :)
Did YT do the graphics @1:32?
There are no ways that this song is not amazing, especially to include and explain iambic tetrameters! Gotta love a literary rap lesson!
For the longest time I though it was "Edgar Allen Poe yo"
