  • The term "Minecraft Victorian Building" gets used a lot in the Minecraft building world however the majority of the time it isn't being used to describe an actual Victorian building. If you search up "Minecraft Victorian House" you will be greeted with a whole list of Second Empire homes with technically aren't Victorian and don't even come from the country that the term refers to. In this Minecraft Building Styles guide you'll learn more about the real Victorian Era Houses and buildings
    Therefore, In this video I will be take you on a historical walk up a custom built street that will showcase the evolution of the British architectural styles from the start of the Georgian period (1715 - 1837) right the way through the Victorian era (1837 - 1901) and the into the beginning of the 20th century with the Edwardian period.
    I hope to make this into a series that can take each one of the substyles in this video (Early Georgian, Georgian, Regency, Early Victorian, Italianate, Gothic Revival, Second Empire, Late Victorian, Edwardian and Edwardian Baroque) and create a "How to build" video/showcase ideas and best practices for these styles.

    This has really opened up my eyes to the Victorian building style. It looks so much better than Medieval housing, mostly because of these buildings being able to pack next to one another and the spectrum of details is just inspiring. But I do think that the Medieval housing we do in Minecraft has more of a fantasy base. Real Medieval houses don't often look that great, unless you were living in the best of the best

    • @WBCBuilds
      @WBCBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe you are correct, so that is why I’ve embarked on this mission to help spread the word about Victorian buildings and how they can still look equally as good in the game. Real life medieval buildings come in all different shapes and sizes, just think about churches and cathedrals. But yes the fantastical nature of the Minecraft medieval builds leaves a lot to be desired

    Thank you for this review of architectural styles over a 200 year period. I learned a lot. I was drawn to your channel by your Victorian builds. I'm originally from a small mill town in New England (Rockville, Connecticut), where textile mill owners - the monied class - built beautiful Victorian houses with grand porches and towers, along with rambling Georgian mansions that later became Rockville's hospital and library. Your builds are inspiring, and the history lesson is the cherry on top.

    This is amazing, exactly the sort of thing I subscribed for. Nice touch with the timeline in the background, very effective. I will be sharing this with several friends, and we'll be taking a lot of inspiration from this. My wife and her friends do Regency costuming as a hobby, and we recently (before everything got shut down...) took a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia, and saw lots of architecture like this. One of my favorite things about visiting the east coast of the US (though I much prefer to live in the western Rocky Mountains, haha). Very fun to go in era-appropriate costume to see historic builds like this, and thanks as always for the excellent and concise history lesson and art showcase! It might be cool to have multiple videos of this style with links to in-depth history lessons and build tutorials for each step along the way.

    I recently stumbled apon your channel, and I am as glad as I could possibly be. Your production quality is flawless, sound is amazing, cuts are professional (not like most of the minecraft youtubers' screaming just to get little kids' attention). Very informational, it seems like You are experienced in historical building styles. Lots of interesting facts and tips, keep the great work up! I will definietly share your channel. Gained several subs!

      Thank you! This was a very nice comment to wake up to! I strive to make each new video has high on the production value scale as I possibly can, audio is king in this business and I spend a lot of time making sure I sound nice and clear. I hope you stick around and enjoy my future content as much

    I actually live in a house not too dissimilar to the one at 10:18, it just doesn’t have the bay windows and is semi-detached with the “sister house” next door; also my cousin/best friend lives in a large Victorian house too, they still have the buttons to call the servants and the notification box thing in the dining room. It’s really interesting, I do love this era especially when it comes to knowing more about the history of the place I live

      Also, my house use to be a surgery at some point in time, I’m pretty sure it was in the very early 20th century

    This is amazing! First (and nearly only)result when I looked for Victorian house. I want to try and tackle a new style for me and your tutorials are very well done. Would you ever go across the "pond" again and tackle the painted ladies in San Francisco? That is what I am going to do next, with a clock tower/rail station to greet you to my town. Again great job!

    • @WBCBuilds
      @WBCBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow that’s amazing to hear that it’s popping up in the search results. As much as I love second empire houses my passion lies with British architecture and I’m trying my hardest to give people a bit more of an insight into that era of buildings. I will do some American towns in the future but don’t have anything planned just yet! I wish you luck with your town and welcome you to join our discord (link in description)

    Yo @WBCBuilds i really feel like you can expand on this concept. I dont think many people have tried making historical architectural styles through Minecraft while also teaching and explaining about that particular time period. I for instance thought it was really interesting that window tax existed in the Georgian time period and for you to also incorporate that fact into your builds. It's simple, but elegant. Keep it up
