Pretty crazy how Jihoon was able to build his fanbase so quickly. He wasn't on a previous survival show or from a big company like Somi and Sejeong, but he was able to stand out with his dance skills, charisma, stage presence and good personality. He has no controversial past, he's not greedy for screentime or self-conceded even tho he's been #1 for 3 weeks and he works hard behind the scenes. he may not get much screentime on broadcast but his stage presence is no joke. he knows how to play with the camera on stage
i've seen every individual video of the recent eyecontact uploads and i'm still not over this one, it affected me the most. jihoon from the very start has been questioned whether he deserves first place, but really - think about it. he didn't even join broduce until kwon hyeob convinced him to, he's so talented and i think kwon hyeob knew that. yes, his popularity skyrocketed after the wink, but you can't say he's untalented and unworthy of being in the top 11 just because mnet would rather prefer to show his wink than his actual hard work. his vocal isn't the best, but his dancing and stage presence is so big that it kinda makes up for it. he has never had any controversy and just worked hard without the need to dramaticize himself. he knows when to set things straight, for example when he was being serious in the boy in luv team. he also is very humble, going up against eunki against a dance battle and admitting in an interview that himself has a lot to improve on compared to eunki. he's just so pure and hardworking and i love him w OW

yes, PD101 is all about popularity, we can't change that. it's how you appeal to the netizens and how entertaining you are. talents are only second to those. even so, jihoon is not all about looks but can sing, dance, hell he can even beatbox. mnet does him so dirty that he's given little to no screentime and editing off his 'time to shine' moments that's why a lot of people are saying he's untalented. he DESERVES being the 1st rank for how many weeks, and ranking 1st in visual. He's so hardworking and humble, you can't see him crying for attention or creating drama... There's a huge chance he'll debut but I don't want people bashing him and saying he's undeserving. yea, those screentime of jihoon being cute mostly just maintains his fanbase. casual viewers who weren't already swoon by his looks before won't suddenly be a fan. This gives the false mindset that Jihoon only got popular for his visuals and he's talentless. The animosity against Jihoon will keep growing if mnet continues only showing how cute or handsome jihoon is. Yeah I actually found myself disliking Jihoon at first b/c his wink was getting him popularity instead of his talents, and other talented good looking trainee's were getting overlooked b/c Koreans were obsessed with a wink.. of all things. But I had to go back and watch some of his past performances to remind myself not to be a hater lolol He's still not my favorite but he definitely deserves a spot in the top 11^^
kwells1111 same here. Since he barely showed up in the first 3 episodes there was no way I could find out what's so special about him that he ranks 1 three weeks in a row. But then I watched all of his pre-p101 videos and I can see that he really has charm. And after this fancam I can see that he has phenomenal stage presence, his expression along with Hyungsub's is the best in this team imo. I still don't really like him but I respect him now and I have no problem of seeing him ranking that high.
Many people said that he was so lucky because of his wink, they thought that was why he become popular and said that he doesn't deserve the 1st rank. But nobody knows that he made his lucky by himself, he was winking through the performance for many times and hoping that the camera would catch him, and the cam really recorded his wink. That's why he becomes famous and get the 1st place for many weeks, he just created for himself a chance to get attractions by his own. Winking consecutively in the performance was not easy, who could do that except him? That's the reason why I really like him and support him ❤️❤️

Other people saying that Jihoon is only popular because of his 'wink" or "visual" and it's true that he became popular when PICK ME PERFORMANCE DROPPED but it has no difference to daniel,samuel and other trainees when we saw them for the first time.
Jihoon - being recognized by his wink
Daniel - being recognized by his pink hair
Samuel -being recognized by his relationship to Seventeen and debuted as 1PUNCH
take note, that time..we have no enough idea about their talent and skill so we only recognized them by their physical appearance and relationship to current idols today but the reason why Jihoon beat daniel and samuel or other trainees in popularity at Korea is because it's natural that Jihoon's wink really have a "strong impact" to koreans..if koreans didn't talk too much about Jihoon about his wink..i guessed he has no international fans today but since all things happened first in korea and intl fans basis are koreans update and infos that's why EVERYONE knows that he is popular because of wink w/o trying to give him a chance to show his real talent. If you guys didn't know, Jihoon is only in rank "B" compared to Daniel and Samuel who are in rank "A" so if we will watch the PICK ME PERFORMANCE again, it's clear that you can only see Jihoon for about 1-3 secs in every appearance but he only appeared for 3-4 times only..Kahi said that "each of them needs to do everything to catch the viewers hearts and attention because not all of them are lucky to have a long screen time when the recording started" Kahi clearly explained that in front of camera, they need to show their best facial expression because facial expression and stage presence is very important..not only about talent...but since Jihoon already knows that he gonna have less screen time because he is rank B, that's why he tried to "wink" when camera suddenly focus on him at the end and fortunately, he actually gained attention just because of wink and i can say that koreans actually like it and it has a big appeal to them..everyone can do that but the question is..are they all same have strong impact with koreans when they wink just like Jihoon?
All of us recognized our faves because of their physical appearance at first but when the real competition started, we all know now their talent and skill that's why we already managed to have biases. Well, we have different reasons why we stan our faves but don't blame Jihoon for being #1 because he deserved that. Yeah, others are more talented than him..let's say Ong,Daniel and Samuel but personally i didn't feel any "idol vibe" to them just like what i feel everytime i watching Jihoon..i'm a type of fan who didn't make the talent as a big deal as long as that idol has enough talent and skill because i'm criticizing an idol as a WHOLE not only talent..i mean talent+personality+stage presence but personality and stage presence are the one who will identified them MORE as an idol because "talent' is understood so don't need to question it and it's natural and inborn(can improved)..so the idol qualities that u need to established is stage presence and personality..stage presence needs practice and personality is natural but no one knows about their real personality in front of camera and behind the camera but of course we are all relying to what are they showing in front of camera that's why i liked Jihoon.
Please stop hating Jihoon just because of the belief that he is getting popular because of his wink or visual, he is TALENTED and he doesn't need to be the most talented one because "being idol is not all about talent" i can named many current groups today who are very popular because of their "IDOL QUALITIES" that can captured viewers attention in a good way even they're not that totally talented but their songs are catchy.
