Very well explained - how does it work the other way round tho? What should a product designer who does not have a background in graphic design do to improve their UI skills?
Thank you! One of the best and cheapest way to learn UI, is by recreating apps in Figma. Take a screenshot and recreate the UI as accurately as possible. This will help you gain a deeper understanding of both UI design and Figma. Also, another recommendation is to nerd out on design systems like Google Material Design 3 to grasp the underlying principles of UI design decisions. ☀️
That's totally fine if you want to do that. You'll likely still need to learn some UX to get there, in particular usability principles. Just know that there are fewer UI jobs. And they'll likely be far more competitive because there's less of them.
