  • Hello! Welcome, this video shows the chipping processes for Gloss Sea Blue Navy aircraft using Mission Models Blue, and ATOM Yellow.
Why have I chosen to try this?
I saw Rinaldi Studio Press showing this in a video for his technique guide and wanted to try this myself, because I trust Mr Rinaldi and I liked what I saw.
It is far more efficient than using Chipping Fluid and lacquers, and the finish is far superior IMHO.
What I saw in Mr Rinaldi's work was grounded in the references of FAA Corsair IVs sailing with the British Pacific Fleet. I also wanted to try this out on a Korean war USMC F4U-4B soon.
    A few things to note:
MMP is a little picky, so I keep it seperate from all other paints/brands of thinners. I had a new airbrush when I started using MMP, so I just use Mission with this airbrush.
Make sure you ground yourself in the appropriate reference photos to ensure you don't deviate from what you see... If your goal is realism.
Plan what you will do and make it as less complicated as possible. I think the mask over the varnished decals is already pushing it, an unnecessary varnish with a coat of MMP to nullify the deletion of all MMP benefits that could've been avoided by using masks.

Really liked how you showed the reference pics throughout. That was a great idea.

Thanks, I think it is a great touch, not many others do it, and it helps with seeing what is going on 👍

    Nice!😊
I've used Tamiya for so long I never had much reason change but have been expanding with mission models paints.
