  • Konya is known as the most conservative town in Turkey. But can we really feel the difference as travelers and should we act differently?
    I this travel vlog we will be discovering this cool and historic Turkish city.
    We visit our first mosque, try some new foods and have a walking tour around Konya.
    We have been in Turkey for almost two months now, living the van life.
    Our journey here is documented in a travel vlog format.
    New videos out every Monday and Thursday evening.

      Hahh, Jason.
      Hosently at first we wanted to name the video "Konya-the place where everything is free" but decided it might sound wierd, but the city was really welcoming and both museums and also theatrical acts were free of charge. Some of them will be seen on the second part of our Konya adventure on Thursday.

    Konya is the capital of the Selçuklu Empire. There is so much history and culture. I suggest you to visit the sille. There is the Aya Eleni Church there. You can also see houses carved into the mountains like Cappadocia. There is a dam and picnic areas at the top of the sille. very authentic place. You should definitely go and tour. you won't regret.Don't forget to eat Etliekmek in Konya

      But every holy building has a special feeling to it. A feeling of peace.

    The name of the cheese you eat is moldy cheese. White cheese is placed in the overalls made from the goat's skin, without leaving any gaps. It stays in overalls for months in cold and dark warehouses and molds itself that way. It is a very healthy cheese. It has penicillin properties. You are very lucky to be able to taste that cheese.

    Thanks to his intrigues, Mevlana had Ahi Evran, the founder and leader of Akhism (and I think a much bigger and more important Turkish thinker than Mevlana), killed by the Mongols.
    The Ahis gave great struggles against the Mongolian invasion.
    - While Mevlana preached laziness and slavery, Ahi Evran produced a philosophy that advocated freedom and participatory management, and even for his own time, the equality of men and women, and included women in administration, art and profession. (He even established and continued the Bacilar Division (even in the military field) in Anatolia, which was already in the Turkish-Turkmen tradition.) and brought his philosophical thoughts to life. In other words, he is also a practitioner and a man of action. What Rumi wrote in front of him is like a fantasy novel that is just a fantasy. Mevlana does not have much respect for women. Mevlana makes a living on the money of others, cultivates an art of his own, other than writing poems and fairy tales.
    Ahi Evren has a Handicraft and Profession that is important for his time. He is an organizer and a tradesman. Like Mevlana, he does not make a living with the donations of others (in my opinion, begging or whatever you call it) or what he gains from the leadership of the Sect.

    Please don't use random ethnic music in your videos, i'm hearing a lot of Indian melodies which have nothing to do with Turkish music or culture. They cannot be a substitute to authenthic Turkish music.
    Like 1:45, you're visiting a mosque, not a hindu temple.
    Imagine me filming Stockholm with African ethnic music in the background, how strange would that look like to you?

    • @WildVikingTravels
      @WildVikingTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I would love to see a Stockholm video with some African music.
      As a movie maker I use the the work of different talented musicians to help create a feeling and an atmosphere to the whole video. I do not mind where the music is from as long as it helps to deliver my message.
      If you look at my videos you will see that I use a lot of American western music to add speed and caching feeling to different shots as well as other national music elements from example Ireland to illustrate nature and greenery.
      So it is sad if the choice of music does not exactly resonate with you, but it is my handwriting as a movie maker.

    • @95bekirable
      @95bekirable 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WildVikingTravels Let me guess, all these talented musicians are Westerners who are not trained in Easten melodies in any way, and only try to sound as exotic as possible.
      And no, you would not want want to watch a movie of Stockholm with background music completely out of touch with the swedish and western culture, that would be very painful to watch as it would completely butcher the spirit of stockholm.
      I'm only advising that you should try to explore the musical scenery of the countries you're visiting.
      For Turkish, you may start by listening to the music of Ömer Faruk Tekbilek
      Example: th-cam.com/video/7_gzggT0l8M/w-d-xo.html

    Mevlana was not Persian but he chose Persian as the language to write his poems and literary work. His famous message to his followers was: "Come, come, whoever; whatever you are. Come again infidel, idolator or fire-worshiper come again.
    Our monastery is not a place of despair, Even if you have violated your oaths a hundred times, come again." His philosophy is the love of God should unite people, not to divide people by religion. That gave him a universal persona and liked by everyone who read his work. Unfortunately for Turks, they read his work by translation and it becomes hard to understand. Persians are much more adore him and revere more because they read him in their language.

    I did not know that Estonian and Finnish are in similar language group from the grammar perspective. Turkish is in the same group in Finnish. Hungarian, Korean, and Japanese. Finns, Hungarians (Huns from Mid-Asia), and Turks are very distant relatives from the Asian roots. Their languages are the Ural-Altaic languages and much more different than the Indo-European languages. I noticed that you are pronouncing Turkish words in ease. You picked up Turkish a quite a bit in 3 months. Have you seen any affinity between Turkish and Estonian in grammatical rules. I am not suggesting that these two sounds similar but the way that how similiar the sentence structure is.

      Saçmalamışsın. Ural-Altay dil ailesi diye bir şey yok. Hatta Altay dil ailesi diye de bir şey yok. İyi araştırmanı tavsiye ederim zira kendinizi küçük duruma düşürüyorun.
