ordered my FX6 on launch day. and yes, i'm reading the manual while i'm waiting for it to arrive. massive amount of information i'm picking up already. the plan is to make sure i'm getting the absolute most out of this after not looking at a manual for the last 5 cameras and not necessarily getting the most out of them. last time i read the manual was on a plane to central China with a c100 i had picked up the day before.. ;-)
@@flickcine absolutely. i'm excited to play and excited to work with it. i appreciate your initial comment was around being able to grab a camera and go, and completely respect that. i'm coming from a place of having the luxury of time to read before it's delivered, and a plan to extract every gram of performance out of this camera. great video as always.
Great video Felicia! Nice clear, concise advice with practical examples. Definitely found myself in this situation the first time I used an Ursa Mini on a last minute job. Your channel is excellent, and I see it's growing! All the best. :)
@1:10, but if you have the time, read the manual! No harm to do it. You'll never know what small detail you'll overlook if you never read it, especially if it is a totally new brand you've got no experience with.
First thing after getting a new camera is just to stare at it for a while. And after that, when it comes to settings, just walk through every setting and think about what it does. As simple as that

Hi Felicity! I've never owned lights before and I wanna buy some Lights, preferably bi-color LEDs since I'm a 1 man band and Id rather not use gels (unless u think I should use gels anyway). Any tips on what to get? Or what to look for? Or I should just stop tunneling on bi-color LEDs? I do a lot of event but I want to get into interviews and film. P.s. i love your videos! They're a real gem for someone who didnt go to film school
Heya! Glad you're enjoying the content ☺️ It's hard to say what to get because it really depends on your budget and personal needs. As a starter, basic kit I would recommend getting three lights. One big light with a soft box to use as a key for your interviews, one 1ft LED panel (bicolour, full colour, whatever) and one smaller pocket sized light to use as a kicker or hairlight. Those three types of lights are useful for more than just interviews but are a good basic kit for different situations. They goal is to have a set of lights that is versatile to change according to what you are shooting. Brands wise, personally my kit is made up of Nanlite and Lupo. After I came across your channel I am rethinking joining an expensive cinematography class. I bought a bmpcc 4k recently.
