  • Fallen in Morocco in 2011, the Tissint meteorite has since then been thoroughly studied by scientists. A new study, published 1st December 2014 in Meteoritics and Planetary Sciences, shows that the meteorite contains organic carbon of biogenic origin, and that this carbon infiltrated the Tissint rock on Mars, before an asteroid shock sent it towards the Earth. The voice of Hillary Sanctuary (EPFL) explains what happend in this short cartoon.

Thinking in terms of Occam's razor, I have to wonder, "why was a first impact on mars necessary to fracture tissint?" Could it not have cracked sufficiently as the result of more common forces?"

This is a fantastic video! It explains in simple terms what happened. I especially like the cat.

Very interesting, I hope there will be further evidence like this in the future.

0:42 technically all carbon except CO and CO2 is organic

and this is more convincing because of what? you think it is more convincing? I think there has been life on mars, but this hardly seems proof or more convincing then theories that say otherwise because someone finds those more convincing.
