On this remembrance Day I wish to thank my son and past and present soldiers
Well, that was something special. You didn't need "man Behind Thew Scenes or DP OR any of their MILLION DOLLAR equipment. Just the old rescued "from the dead" Ford and a 20 ton hydraulic jack.
Great Job Captain Kleeman.
You know what? I think everyone deserves a backhoe in their life. She's so versatile!
the best thing about being a pessimist is you are always happy. If it works, you are happy, if it doesn't, you can say 'I told you so' and that always makes us happy. Win Win.
DP’s video today mentions being determined. That’s certainly evident in your video today too.
Your reasoning of “because I want to” is all the reason you need. The fact that we’ll all watch is the bonus.
You're a man of indefatigable correct thinking. "Because I want to !" should be good enough for anybody
Exactly!
“Because I want to” really thrives when there is one more thing…. an internal voice which is essentially saying “you can do it too unless you quit before you even try”. I call this voice a calm confidence which is rooted in Philippians 4:13
You need to put that on a shirt
Building a rock bridge because you want to sounds like a good reason to me. There’s more than enough raw material under foot to get it done. All ahead forward Captain. 🐶
In a hundred years someone will observe, 'this is obviously manmade '. Great project.
Thanks
Two answers to the question regarding “ why are you doing that?” 1) “because I want to” 2) “because I can” and if your want to is strong enough, the I can part then happens. I really like this series of videos young man, you are a man after my heart, love it! Thanks for the update, just enjoying the biscuits out of it.😮😊
good morning i hope everyone has a great day
Morning!
My dad had us do that work with levers A-frames and chains with blocks and tackle. I would’ve sold my soul for that backhoe. 😁
Lol
300 million years ago a few billion little sea creatures gave their lives so The Captain could make this great video. I salute them.
Mike, very nice idea on the rock bridge. Remember, the laws of physics using pulleys. The more back and forth, the easier it will be on pulling that heavy rock. I can see one big tree behind, can't see the other way, but I'm sure you could use a double pulley to help pull that rock up the hill. I was also thinking you would use the jack to reposition the rocks below! Looking forward to the finished product. BTW, we could all see you were going to get stuck before you did! 😃😃
Fantastisch Good work kleeman you the best friend Top thans te video 🚚🎧✔️🍂👍🌞☕🚜🧤👣
Cap’n… your next T-shirt needs to have your logo on the front and “BECAUSE I WANT TO!” Stacked on a pile of boulders printed on the back!
I want one just so that I can brag to my buddies!!!
Keep on keeping in bud… you’re making me smile!
Would make a great shirt!
I watched you build your log bridge and judging how that came out...well Mike I have every confidence you are going to make a spectacular rock bridge as well. Hard work and determination built the world and you have no lack of either.
Now that bridge is a neat idea! Your ability to figure stuff out, and making do with what you have to get a job done, (and the ability to "re-think" after something doesn't work) is the main reason I've always watched your channel. Take care!
Thanks dan
Every penny spent on the backhoe is money well spent Mike 👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
Work like an Egyptian!
Really enjoying this “Because I Want To” series 😂. Keep em coming!
😂
You do good work, screw what others think.
I always have 😂😂
Nice of Mike to help out, concrete work is never easy on your own. Like how its coming together, those supports were definitely a brilliant idea. Nice of the concrete driver to stay that long as well. 👍
Determination and ingenuity go a long ways, keep it up Mike!!
No hydraulic hoses were harmed during this episode of because i can. Thanks for all the great videos. Stay safe
"That's still a part of the earth" - lol
Rock art that will last forever how can you go wrong.
Make a low water bridge for the water to flow across over it.😊
Oh my! Stay tuned boys and girls.
At 16:45 I thought she is going over Captain, but no, you saved it!!
Amazing how some rocks are still connected to the planet. Makes them heavy-er! You're doing great, " because you want to"! Carry on.
Thanks!
I still say, use the church stone to build each approach and use timbers for the decking. Use those stones to build rocky outcroppings. I am afraid when big rains come, this will get washed out every time.
I appreciate your thick scan. I was critical as someone who had a lot of profanity their father dead or does on TH-cam. I stand by what I said. However I understand him defending his father totally. I just get parts of it Now. You go dude. Love your channel young man
There is no one on TH-cam that I would rather share a beer with. The beer in uk might be a bit warm for you but I am sure we can make it work.
Very cool indeed Capt. Can't wait to see the 555 take her maiden voyage across it. Won't lie, I grew up in a stone pit and watching you wrestle with the big pieces makes me nervous. It's not a lack of faith in you trust me, I've just seen a few close calls when the stone gets a mind of its own. As always keep up the great work, be safe out there, and thanks for bringing us along 😁👍
I’m so glad we got that 555 and fixed it up because I think the 755 would’ve really struggled with this project
Looks like the 555 needs another 250 lbs.on it's nose to counter balance that backhoe.😊
I was literally on the edge of my seat through most of this video. It had better action and drama than at least the last few Marvel movies. 👍
Appreciate the feedback
Big rocks are fun to work with if you have the right tools and equipment. "Because I want to". Good words to live by.
💪
Adapted and persistent determination
Flipping that rock slab over was a gentle landing. Good job.
Thanks!
Good morning. That rounded and smooth river rock was perhaps dropped by the Egyptians on their way to Wyandotte Cave. Where all the "mummies" were found.
When it comes to building material (Cheap is GOOD....FREE is better)
Yup
Keep at it. The light bulb will come on, and it will be a perfect solution. 😊😅
This is like watching a master chef cutting sashimi with a swiss army knife
I'm thoroughly enjoying your projects, especially this one. You have the best "can do" attitude doing things the majority of people would think were crazy. Human ingenuity is amazing. I look forward to your next video.
Thank you so much!
With your talent on an excavator, I think your trade up series should end with an 8 ton mini excavator with a blade. Maintaining your 3 properties with trails and future unknown plans in the woods. Great ingenuity, Mike.
Now it's time for everybody's favorite game... "Guess the Weak Spot".
Which will break first; the tree, the chain, the rebar, the backhoe, or the rock (now weakened by a hole drilled through it) ??
I don't think anybody had high hopes for that poor little tree.
Completely engrossed with this project.
Good! Lol
It just amazed me that you've gotten done what you have so far with the rocks and the 555. I do admire your attitude on these great projects! Wish I were there.
Really admire your tenacity in the face of adversity, when it's done which I have no doubt it will your crossing will look really nice. 👍
Maybe you could make a little natural rock , concrete, and rebar foundation on each side creek crossing before you set the flat rocks in place with 555 . Stay safe buddy
You are one amazing guy. You never quit I admire your tenacity. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.
💪
Nothing softens the blow of being woken up at 4am like a new problem-solving video. (Bell tower is still my favorite Captain Kleeman One Man Show!) Thanks for sharing your adventures and thoughts with us!
Bell tower was a heck of an adventure!
Helping all I can from long distance! I would love to see what you would build if you had your own excavator. Until then this will do just fine!
I know a lot people are not in favour of daylight saving time but dude you’re back on standard time it’s just the shorter and shorter days as we approach the winter solstice!
No, it's the fact that it's now darker an hour earlier in the day instead of the morning. That means I have less time to get stuff done.
@@CaptainKleeman I am with you there. Getting off work at 5:00 and it is dark means no opportunity to accomplish anything requiring daylight. Should just make DST the standard time and no longer change time. There is no evidence it makes us any more energy efficient, the farmers don't want/need it (myth), and it appears to have more downsides than good (depression, motivation). We can't change the number of daylight hours available as that is determined by the Earth orbit and axis tilt, but I will take the Sun rising/setting an hour later for the win.
@@CaptainKleeman So you then you want to keep daylight saving time all year round not just March thru November!
It is insane what you are doing with the 555, moving rocks that big. Stay safe!
Bush engineering at its best
This is how bridge fords were built on the Yorkshire moors in the UK for hundreds of years. Some still survive and are now capped in concrete pad but the basic fabric remains underneath. In dry weather it's a bridge, but in wet weather it's a ford.
You are certainly a relentless man! You should write a book, hold my beer, and watch this a story about a man and his 555😂 great video keep it going!
Lol thanks
Captain Mike could have been an engineer on the Egyptian pyramids. Patience on this project. It will be a beautiful and permanent creation when done.
Oh Mike you made my day, laughed and laughed. Could almost see what was going to happen. Especially when you
hooked yourself to that little tree. But I'm amazed at what you can do with the old 555.
Excellent challenge! Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I don't know why this made me think of Fred & Barny!
Lol
nice start to the rock bridge neet idea with the rebar to move it around never seen that before. thats why I come to watch learning is good. see ya on the next one. cheers captain.
Recommend jacks and levers to get the elevation then stack rock underneath to brace it.
Rounded off river rock is all we see in south east Michigan
I hope you can get that big stone moved to where you want it, without too much problems 👍👍😎😎🙏🙏🍮🍮
The question is never WHY......the true question is WHY NOT
Exactly!
Why! Because I want too. I love it. You're the Man. I see others love your videos too.
Thank you sir!
Great start Lets getter done. I'm sure it will come together like the wooden bridge job. See you on the next one. 🤠
Thanks 👍
If you haven't finished moving the stones could you lay a couple of smallish logs down like railroad tracks. Then just slide them up hill, easy.
Sorry I haven't been around, I can walk and get around again 😁👍so I'll be able to watch more often.
That's going to make an awesome bridge.
Good to see ya again!
Lol . Mike good day sir. Lol that 555 sure is a beast! And you can move that big rock. Just need to do it in short bursts Mike ! Lift the side you want it to go and place a tree under that side and use it as a helper to get it to go that way!
Michael I have to admit . You are a glutton for punishment. Being a retired firefighter myself I understand and am not putting you down at all. I am wishing you the best and my prayers are with you for success. And thanks for the comic relief.
Good start to a very cool bridge when completed. I know you will get them big rocks up the hill. Everyone has ideas on how to do it. Including me lol. But watching how you do it makes the video that much better. Thanks 👍👍👍
I live in Michigan and I am not a fan of this time change either. Why can't we just stay ahead? We need more sunlight in the afternoon than in the morning. I realize some of the states towards the west have a problem with the sunrise You guys can just stay behind. They can fix the time zones.
Rock on Buddy!
💪
Captain you’ll find a way to get it done, no doubt! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Kleeman is building a boat and big stone box in the woods. Methinks it's a bit Hitchcock or cult horror B Movie. We may even overstep YT community guidelines in the coming months and years :)
Comment: Go Klieeman Go !
Love what you're doing to your new property. Please be careful! Thanks for sharing!! 😊
Thanks!
go get it Cap. 👈👺👺👀👀👍
I love rocks! Keep it up! Rock structures are a thing of beauty! Love the content! Thanks, Mike! Lee
Thanks!
Rock On Capt!
If building a rock bridge was easy, everyone would do it. I agree with another commenter, get the big rocks where you want them. Then lift a side, build your support wall, lift the other side and keep going back and forth till you get it to the height you want. Little more time investment, but less likely to break something.
Big hopes and a Ford can move mountains or rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep watching and even though your pin flip worked,,, waiting to see when you start using ' blocks and slide ramps'.
Very interested in seeing finished product Mike, very cool, peace…
Some of those rocks area might big. You should square off the excess to lighten them up by drilling a series of holes and using wedges to split them. Be easier to place them if you have good edges. Give yourself a headstart with a diamond wheel on a small grinder to score a nice straight line about 1/2'' deep.
Why does this remind me of the Slate Rock and Gravel Company quarry, perhaps you need to rename the admiral to Wilma? 😊
Don't get me wrong I truly admire the work you are doing on all your projects it's great to see the way you overcome the challenges you encounter.
DYI dad sent me!!!
Great video entertainment!!
Welcome to the channel!
Just gotta trust the process 😂😂 look forward to seeing how this project progresses mike 👍👍👍
You and me both!
So I have seen a a few channels where they make a tripod out of logs. And hook a chain host to it! I think that would work in this case !
YTMND! 👍💪
Mike - you look so happy and content in the thumbnail, or is it devilish and plotting? 😈
People who say 2wd backhoes ain't worth nothing obviously don't got any grit to make things happen.
Agree lol
Hi, (I am not a welder, just a guy who owns one ) I am not a ROCK & ROLLER just a guy who tried it. 👍🐝🌞
You thought it through, tried and tested your theory..... most of it worked 💪💪💪
Typical you picked the boulder that is still attached to earth, eh 🤣🤣
No doubt by now you will have recovered the one you left us dangling with and have the bridge deck complete 😁 but we will find out on Monday after it is settled into place 😉
555 didn't quite get stuck, just decided not to go any further 😂
Get the big rock where you want it then use hydraulic Jack's to lift it up. Build your support walls under it and lower it down. Can also help move it by lifting it with the Jack's and dropping it on stands or vertical 2x4. Pull sideways to tip them over to wiggle it around.
Don’t forget not only Is he building a bridge is also building a channel. So much respect for a fire fighter and educator. I was one of those educator one time
Captain Kleeman, it started out a lil rocky, but hope it finds a solid base.😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😊
