Running them with backup power is easy, and you don't require much energy. A simple backup battery, like one you use for camping, can run a furnace for hours. Depending on it's size and feature set.
What utter BS! In practice, the average air conditioner goes for years with no regular maintenance. What is a heat pump? An air conditioner that is used both in the winter and the summer. I'm giving up after 4:45.
@@richdobbs6595 👍. That is correct. It simply replaces the need for a furnace. Either your electric bill is going up,or your gas bill in winter. You can't get something for nothing. And all "new" technology is not the most effective and efficient.
This video is total BS from edge to edge. Not one word of it is true. 1. The $25k price is double to triple what you you would pay in NC. 2. Gas heat doesn't work without electricity either. 3. Heat pumps don't need maintenance twice a year, but probably should be checked out every five years. 4. Heat pump electrical connections don't need to be tightened twice a year. They are the same as every other thing in your house. Do you have those tightened twice a year? 5. Heat pumps don't leak refrigerant unless some thing is broken. 6. Heat pumps don't have a bunch of parts that wear out. They have one compressor and two fans. 7. Heat pumps had problems below 40 degrees in 1970. Modern heat pumps work down to 0F. You should not let Monkey Wrench Plumbers near your house.
So you decided to create a clickbait video! Good for you! Too bad most of what you say is silly or wrong! 1. Yes, they cost more. DUH! An obvious fact the instant you shop for one. Since you would recover the extra cost in ONE year, that seems a very bogus "disadvantage". 2. NO, installation is NOT a bigger deal, and telling people that is just BS!!!!! 3. NO, they do not need maintenance twice a year...except when someone like you wants to be able to sell those unneeded services. I live in Florida, where *everyone* buys a heat pump. And pretty much no one I have ever heard of, including A/C techs, says to service it twice a year. In fact, most homeowners rarely service their units unless there is an issue! As long as you do a good job with your filters, they almost NEVER need servicing! 4. Most modern units have NO issue with delivering heat in fairly cold weather. At 0 degrees, many/most still have a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of over 1.7 and since the alternative for most climates is to have "emergency heat strips" for heating, which have a COP of 1, they still are cheaper to run than the heat strips! Is a furnace better? Yes, but then you really *do* have a much higher cost!
Gas furnaces don't run either if there is a power outage.

I entered a competition recently in which first prize was a heat pump and second prize was 2 heat pumps.
@@purge98 hahahahaha 😂. Good one. 👍

This. This video is shit.
Very good video. Very fair and informative without any brand or product endorsements.
Except for the general concept that you really need expensive HVAC services!
