I've noticed a few trucks of this design have a feature I am perplexed by. What was the reason for mounting the exhaust in the front under the driver rather than facing rearwards like many more modern trucks?
@@phantomrose1999 This is interesting. With what we know now about exhaust fumes, why it's NOT allowed is pretty obvious. I still think it's an interesting feature not ever seen on American trucks.
@@bobw7018 mine is a 68 model and does have a exhaust outlet high up behind the cab. But the original 58 designs had the exhaust outlet after the 2nd mufflers. I quite like these twin red mufflers and will restore them.

One theory is to increase power. The two mufflers in front dumped the exhaust out the side of the cab, after the 2nd muffler. Not allowed these days

Nope. Hoping to fit the reconditioned injection pump over the Xmas holidays and at least get it running.
