@@MrMomo182 just done 900 km trip in Romania two up ,gearing was perfect. The bike was spot on going up hills and mountains. This is the gearing it should have come from the factory with.
That why I fitted that nylon chain guide,it just holds the chain up that little bit and keeps it off the Kickstarter shaft and the part of the frame under the chain. It seems to be working very well.
Another really useful video, thank you 🙂 I have the exact same 19 tooth sprocket that I'm going to fit on my 2021 Classic 500, but I'm going to wait until it's time to replace the chain and sprockets at around 10 or 12 thousand km. How many km would you normally recommend to change the chain and sprockets at?
The main problem is the poor quality stock chain. If you change it sooner than later you should get away with not changing the rear sprocket. It looks like it's designed to fit a traction engine and of very good quality. Plus a rear sprocket is about £70 GBP to replace. If your rear sprocket is in good condition as they don't seem to wear replace the chain with a DID chain and fit your 19T front sprocket. Make sure you change the oil pump O ring as you will be removing the complete right hand engine casing. It is not worth the risk of not changing it or your engine could be running on low oil pressure if it leaks.
Can you tell me what size chain I'll need for my 2021 RE C500??? Everytime I look it up on google I get advertising but no answer... It was suggested that I buy a 530 X chain, but that's heavy duty even for a big sports bike.. Would a 530 be too heavy my bike?
The bike is going to be better than its came from the factory, lovely bike 🙂🇬🇧👍🏍
Thanks Kenneth. It seems never ending at the moment
Absolutely it will.
Nice job Ian. Looking forward to the next installment.
Thanks
Really looking forward to knowing how you go with that sprocket on hills before I consider putting one on. Cheers!
Will let you know

But that's a tight thing with the kickstarter shaft, keep in mind the chain also lengthens a bit!

I've got a new chain and sprockets ready to be fitted.. I'm up to 21,500km on my original chain...
What's the 19T sprocket like on the road? How is cruising at highway speed compared to the stock 17T?
I will be doing a review on it when the bike is finished and back on the road.
Smart work, Ian! Looks Fresh.
